"Project took only a small bit longer than projected but much of that was due to slow delivery of certain supplies due to the pandemic. We were very pleased with the timing. I do encourage all project managers to over-communicate with the home-owners. Our only frustration was not being fully included in daily schedules. We would definitely hire Dave Johnson Building/Remodeling again."

Customers say: True professional

"I didn’t realize how far my kitchen was from being efficient. After having my kitchen gutted and remodeled it’s much more enjoyable to cook and spend time with family now that there is space and functionality. It came out spectacular and the price was right!"

Small jobs welcome

"Kaydn has been very responsive as our renovation and repair needs evolve. We certainly aren’t done yet, but we will keep this company involved as we continue to work forward through some major renovations. We just started with them for essential repairs before embarking on the more ambitious projects. Kaydn has proven himself as very knowledgeable and capable. More to come."

"We needed to remodel our bathroom as our tub had a crack. Within a few minutes of contacting I had an appointment scheduled. The salesperson was knowledgeable and personable and met with us in the evening so we didnà ¢à  à  t lose any work time. The installation process was wonderful, everyone was professional, they covered the floors, so as not to track on them. We did have a couple of requests after installation and our installers came back a few days later to address our requests. We are thrilled with our new shower and we cannot wait to use it for years to come"

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

If you are fortunate enough to have a renovation budget of $100,000, your budget can take you pretty far. Considering the average cost to renovate a home in the U.S. is about half of that, it should be enough for several upgrades and aesthetic improvements. The actual cost will depend on factors like the size of the home, material choices, and whether you hire remodeling contractors or take a DIY approach.

There are a few things you can do to keep your bathroom remodel as affordable as possible in your mobile home:

  • Ask your contractor to replace caulk and grout rather than retiling

  • Ask your professional to refinish your tub/shower rather than replacing

  • Upgrade your sink fixtures rather than replacing the sink

  • Upgrade cabinet hardware and ask your remodeler to refinish the cabinets

  • Avoid changing the layout of your bathroom

Renovating just before a move is worth it in cases of severe damage or decay—or if you're actually just making home improvements to flip and sell a property. If your home is in otherwise good condition, don't burden yourself with additional tasks when you're already busy packing. And if something needs to be fixed, try to plan to do it at least a few months before your big move.

Common shower pan sizes are 30-by-30 inches and 42-by-32 inches, or you might want a contemporary, clean-lined 60-by-42-inch walk-in. When selecting the size and location of your custom shower, consider the other bathroom fittings, whether the shower door can open easily, and whether you’ll have to alter plumbing.

The number of shower niches you need (or want) depends on the size of the shower and how many bathroom products you plan on storing. If you keep it simple with just soap and shampoo, the one shower niche will probably do the trick. But if you’re adding scrubs and soaks, you may need to think about installing two or more.
