"I give my highest recommendation to Concrete Solutions. They did exactly what they said they would do and at a reasonable price. They worked neatly and efficiently. The crew was very respectful of my property and abided by Covid-19 safety protocals. If you need basement water-proofing, this company can do the job."

Small jobs welcome

"Terry did a great job repairing our concrete paver walkway. He gave us a fair price and came on short notice. He and a helper showed up on time, finished the work on time, and cleaned up the work area. The quality of his work is top notch. Heâ s a real craftsman Iâ d highly recommend to anyone."

"We had a pretty big project, removing an old camp roof and building a new roof rotated 90 degrees, and adding a loft area. We were very happy with Andrew and his crew. They really go the extra mile to make sure everything is done right - they don't cut corners and take pride in their work. They installed new windows in the front and even used Windex to wipe off their finger smudges! Price was very good, and they're good, honest guys to work with. Very pleased!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Repairing existing structures is almost always the more practical choice for masonry work in Augusta. Many local homes feature historic brick, making full replacements complicated due to the difficulty of sourcing matching materials. Simple maintenance like repointing mortar joints or fixing early spalling prevents extensive damage. Full replacements also trigger modern ME building code upgrades, which adds unnecessary complexity. Address minor damage early to preserve your original brickwork.

Helpful?

You have several excellent eco-friendly options for masonry work in Augusta. Reclaimed brick and stone are widely available from historic demolitions, offering a sustainable building material. You can also utilize thermal mass designs to absorb and release heat, improving your home's energy efficiency. Additionally, traditional lime-based mortars are experiencing a revival across ME because they reduce moisture damage and extend the lifespan of older structures naturally.

Helpful?

Focus on protecting your home from water damage while waiting for a professional. Cover cracked areas with a waterproof tarp to block rain and snowmelt. Clear away any vines or moss growing in the mortar, and improve drainage by redirecting downspouts away from the foundation. Avoid applying sealers to historic Augusta brickwork, as this traps moisture inside. Always hire a licensed professional for structural masonry work or chimney repairs in ME.

Helpful?

Poor moisture management is the leading cause of damage to masonry work in Augusta. Using harsh road salts on walkways penetrates porous brick and accelerates severe freeze-thaw damage. Directing downspouts toward your foundation or planting shrubs directly against walls traps harmful moisture. Avoid using high-pressure washers on older ME homes, as this strips the protective outer layer of the brick. Keep weep holes clear to ensure proper drainage.

Helpful?

Yes, the prime season for masonry work is May through October. Mortar requires temperatures above 40 degrees to cure properly, making winter projects in Augusta impossible. The deep frost lines in ME also cause ground movement that disrupts fresh foundations. Schedule your projects between late spring and early fall to ensure proper curing and avoid freezing temperatures. Local professionals book up quickly in the spring to fix winter damage.
