We were and are still thrilled with the project completed by Archadeck. There was a slight problem with settling the first year, and TJ replaced more than needed on a schedule that fit with us. Our project consisted of bringing in material to level a slope, installing over 800sf of patio pavers, and replacing a multi-level deck with a privacy wall. I would highly recommend Archadeck.

We couldnâ t be happier with our experience working with Archadeck of Central Maine and their owner, TJ Langerak. From start to finish, their team demonstrated outstanding professionalism and attention to detail, transforming our vision into a beautiful, durable deck and stone patio. The entire process was seamless and stress-free. The project was completed on time, with exceptional craftsmanship and clear, consistent communication at every step. Any adjustments or items on the punch list were promptly addressed without issue, showcasing their commitment to customer satisfaction. The end result is a stunning outdoor living space that has exceeded our expectations in both quality and aesthetics. We wholeheartedly recommend Archadeck of Central Maine to anyone looking to elevate their home with a well-designed and expertly constructed outdoor project. Thank you, TJ and team, for making our dream outdoor space a reality!

We decided to build a massive double decker composite deck around our pool in the fall of 2022 in Winslow ME. This was a six-figure project and knew it could only be built by the best. TJ and his crew are the best in the business. From architectural design to final build. If you are looking to have a durable, aesthetically pleasing and top-tier deck built this is the company to hire. We would give them 100 stars if we could. We are currently building a new home and plan to go with Archadeck of Central Maine once again.

I highly recommend Archadeck of Central Maine. The carpenter, Garret, except for a few hours on the first carpentry day and the entire last day, worked on this by himself. He did a phenomenal job! On the last day he was joined by Preston and he did a great job as well. This project had some unique elements. First, was the slope of the ground. Second, was the design. The lower deck was designed to hold a hot tub (not shown here) to be accessed from the upper deck in the area between the two railings. One whole side of the upper deck remained without a railing as I wanted deck access to be at any point along the footpath. It'll be my task to backfill the gap between the deck surface and the footpath. Total number of days worked on this project was six (6). TJ and Jessi are easy to work with and the cost was very reasonable. We are THRILLED with the results!!

Went with archadeck because they had a good rating. This company subcontracts out work to builders without doing any research. You're better off finding a local builder yourself so you avoid the headache we had to deal with. This was approximately a 210sq ft deck we paid $31k) for (we were okay with paying extra because we thought they were reputable) The deck was installed with absolutely no water protection behind the ledger board. The ledger board was just placed against 40 year old siding and I can clearly see the rim joist of my house from outside. The owner TJ and his assistant Jesse both advised that it was done right they didn't see anything wrong with it. (had to call them out while just the framing was up, there was no oversight.) I had 4 contractors out to double check it, 1 being related and 3 are well known local builders. All of them stated that there was no water membrane behind the ledger, it would quickly rot out and to pause all work to get code enforcement out because there's no way it will pass. I notified TJ I wanted code enforcement to check it out before we proceeded due to major safety concerns (deck railing installed with no screws barely hanging on and they just covered it with the railing cover. See photo. And the ledger board being clearly placed over old siding with no water barrier) When code enforcement came out his first words were "this is wrong". TJ kept advising code enforcement that he just didn't see how it was wrong. Ultimately, code enforcement failed it due to there being no barrier to protect the ledger board or the house from wind driven rain, ice, etc(live on the coast) To fix it they had to cut the ledger board into 4 pieces peel it off the house, cut what should have been cut originally and then water barrier put in, old foam put back and put the deck back. The entire time, Jesse made sure that we knew he was very irritated to have to fix it. They also took out a 3 ft window and replaced it with a 6 ft sliding glass door on an exterior wall and weren't going to put in a header or any pan flashing (placed it right on the wood) . The header they put in (after me insisting they did) is blocked on 1 side (jack stud too short so instead of fixing they just added a little wood block) and it's floating on the other, jack stud also too short - not supporting header. When they drilled the holes for the helical posts(3) they drilled it a foot into my garage door path - and then had to cut more blacktop out to fix it. How this step is messed up is beyond me. Overall the issue comes from complete lack of oversight and they were either being dishonest about not seeing what was wrong, or they've installed a lot of decks without a water barrier. (leading reason for deck failures) Either way - terrible experience with this business.
Response from Archadeck of Central Maine
"We regret that your project didn?t result in a 5-star experience. We always strive to provide the highest quality service to our clients and build our structures above code. Your feedback helps us to improve, and we will use this to better serve our clients in the future. We take your feedback seriously and will use it as an opportunity to strengthen our communication and processes. Should you have further concerns, please don?t hesitate to reach out directly. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify these matters and remain committed to ensuring our clients are satisfied with the final product. We?d like to clarify a few points for those reading this review: Regarding the concern about the hiring of subcontractors: we vet all the builders we work with to ensure they meet our standards. While we occasionally work with new carpenters, we monitor their performance to maintain the quality our clients expect. The ledger board wasn?t installed against siding, as you can clearly see in the pictures provided in the review, it was installed over ½? foil faced insulation, which acts as the moisture barrier under the vinyl siding. Ledger flashing is installed above and over the top of the ledger board. We installed vinyl ledger flashing then adhered it to the moisture barrier on the house with Vycor self-adhered flashing, which is an application that product is intended for and forms a watertight seal against the foil faced insulation. The issue I could see was that the foil faced insulation on the house isn?t as effective of a moisture barrier as it could be because the seams aren?t taped. I said during one of our discussions that the siding should come off on the entire wall of the house so the seams can be taped. I then offered in writing to do that work at no extra cost. That work would have been more extensive than the fix the homeowner wanted and ultimately received. I didn?t double down on trying not to fix it, I doubled down on trying to make it as good as it could possibly be. At every stage of the project, we were committed to addressing concerns and ensuring the work met or exceeded code requirements. Any legitimate issues raised were resolved promptly, and we strive to uphold our long-standing reputation for integrity and high standards."
