"Simplified Green Homes did a firewall insulation installation in the ceiling of our garage. They were quick to respond to my initial request. They sent an estimate promptly. Getting the work day scheduled took a bit of back and forth but once we established a date they were here and got the job done. Everyone we dealt with was polite and professional. I would definitely recommend this company ."

Small jobs welcome

"We were referred to AJ Pro Green by a colleague so we had them come out for a free estimate. They showed up on time and were very professional. They insulated our basement during our remodel and we couldnâ t be happier. The job was done quickly, was within our budget, and communication was fantastic. We would highly recommended!"

"Did the work on schedule and when it ended up costing less, he sent me a check for the difference. As I was not able to be there or see the work, he assured me he'd be available if I had questions in the future. Thank You Corey"

"I found Todd through searches on Facebook and Angi, and after getting 3 estimates, chose him to take on a challenging renovation in my 100+ year old home. His estimate wasn't the lowest, but I just had a feeling he would be a good fit. Things didn't always go easily, but Todd got through them and did a stellar job. I couldn't be happier with his work and highly recommend him."

"Job started a day later than scheduled due to their equipment being down. Job was originally scheduled for 5-7 days. Job actually took 2 weeks and salesman called into the third week saying the job was done. We have never had mold remediation done before and was selling our house. The explanation of how the job would go was vague at best. This is not a process we are familiar with having never been through it before. In the estimate there was a blanket statement of “any construction materials removed will not be replaced” (once again we were never explained anything about this process in regards to things being removed). Upon the job being completed the buyer noticed there was no mention of insulation replacement. We were 2 days from closing and had to hire someone to replace the insulation. The handyman hired to replace the insulation noticed other items had been removed by octagon. We were not left a list of items removed from the residence. I was just told by Matt Brown that “that’s why I gave you a referral of a weatherization company” for 8300$ one would think you might get a verbal explanation of items needing replacement or at least an itemized list. Hope we don’t need to go through this again because as Octagon will not be contacted again."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Applying plaster to a wall will usually cost between $2 and $10 per square foot for both the material and labor. The cost will vary based on the quality of the plaster you’re using and whether or not prep work is required before the work begins. Wall prep can add up to about 10% to your total costs. Plastering exterior walls can be more expensive in many cases because they are taller and require scaffolding and safety equipment.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

It’s less costly to drywall a fireplace than shiplapping it since material costs are higher for shiplap. However, if you’re DIYing the project, shiplap is less expensive since you won’t have to pay for labor. With drywall, getting a smooth finish is difficult unless you’re a pro. Shiplap is ideal for an accent wall or unique space, such as around a fireplace, since it adds texture and gives off a cozy vibe.

Whether you need drywall anchors depends on your specific project, particularly where you are hanging an item. Drywall anchors are not necessary if you can drive a screw directly into a wooden stud behind the wall, as the stud provides sufficient support. However, since studs are not present everywhere in a wall, you will need to use drywall anchors if you are hanging an object in a location without a stud. For very lightweight items, picture hanging strips can also be a suitable alternative.

Small patches can be DIY, but professionals handle large-scale repairs with seamless results.
