Customers say: Quick response

"Had a terrific experience with Accurate Insulation and would highly recommend them to others. They are a locally owned and run family business and were very responsive, fast, and did a thorough job at a reasonable cost. They even recommended a better solution than what I had asked for that resulted in a cost savings while getting a better R-value with sound resistance. I hired Accurate Insulation in August 2022. I left a voicemail upon my initial call and receive a call back from AJ at the end of his work day on another insulation job site. I sent him pictures and an explanation of the basement structure to be insulated (walls and ceiling). There were 2, sometimes 3, men working on the insulation. All were friendly and personable. I went with the dense cellulose recommendation that AJ proosed. The basement now feels buttoned up, the sound quality is much different (no echoes), the temp and air quality in the basement now feels healthier. I will definitely hire them again (need upstairs insulation) and would highly recommend them to others"

"This was our first time using Apollo Insulation and Geremy and Dennis did an excellent job removing our old (rodent droppings and urine) insulation. They disinfected and repaired any damage caused by the rodents. New insulation was blown in and we couldnâ t be happier. From the initial inspection and quote Geremy was on top of keeping us informed on what would be done to complete the job. Apollo Insulation cleaned up behind them inside and outside leaving our home with no mess. The price was very reasonable and we were very pleased and satisfied with the quality of the work. I highly recommend Apollo Insulation for any of your insulation needs. Very hardworking and professional service company. Bill and Anne G Wayne, Maine"

"Job started a day later than scheduled due to their equipment being down. Job was originally scheduled for 5-7 days. Job actually took 2 weeks and salesman called into the third week saying the job was done. We have never had mold remediation done before and was selling our house. The explanation of how the job would go was vague at best. This is not a process we are familiar with having never been through it before. In the estimate there was a blanket statement of “any construction materials removed will not be replaced” (once again we were never explained anything about this process in regards to things being removed). Upon the job being completed the buyer noticed there was no mention of insulation replacement. We were 2 days from closing and had to hire someone to replace the insulation. The handyman hired to replace the insulation noticed other items had been removed by octagon. We were not left a list of items removed from the residence. I was just told by Matt Brown that “that’s why I gave you a referral of a weatherization company” for 8300$ one would think you might get a verbal explanation of items needing replacement or at least an itemized list. Hope we don’t need to go through this again because as Octagon will not be contacted again."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Most drywall used for interior walls of homes is 1/2-inch thick. This size strikes a balance of being easy to handle and hang while being thick enough for the durability needed on interior wall applications.

To maintain plaster walls, inspect them regularly for cracks and seal them early. Clean the walls by dusting regularly or using a gentle, damp cloth. It's also important to avoid moisture exposure. Repainting as needed will help maintain the wall's appearance and longevity.

Drywalling a garage is a smart decision if you want to protect your garage from fires, moisture damage, and exterior noise. Most garages have flammable supplies that could result in serious damage in the off chance of an accident. Drywall is fire resistant, helping to prevent fires from spreading. Not to mention, drywall can improve the appearance of a dingy, old garage.

There are some instances when you can use extra drywall in your garden. Ideally, unused scraps of new drywall are best for amending soil without the concern of additional chemicals or mold. However, drywall with paint, mold, or potential asbestos requires specialized disposal by a professional and should be kept out of your garden.

If your home was built before the 1940s and was not remodeled in the past 50 or so years, you probably have plaster walls. Aside from assuming, there are some practical ways to tell if you have plaster walls, including the following: If you knock on the wall and it feels solid, not hollow, if you can’t insert a thumbtack easily, if there are cracks that look like spiderwebs, or if your home has curved, arched, or swirled walls, doorways, or window openings.

If you have an unfinished basement or attic, you could examine the backs of any finished walls to check, too.
