"Coastal Bath did a great job installing our new shower. They completed it in one day, they made sure the area was clean before the left. From begin with the salesman to the workers, they were professional and very polite. I would recommend Coastal Bath to anyone looking to replace their shower."

"Dealing with Westshore has been professional and pleasant. We had a bathtub to walk in shower conversion done. There was a manufacturer defect in the first shower. Westshore promptly rescheduled a re/do completed beautifully by Nico and Clay. We were surprised at the high cost of this type of project but pleased with our dealings with everyone at Westshore and we are happy with our shower."

Customers say: Quick response

"Polite, thorough, knowledgeable, timely, and skilled. Good qualities to have in a plumber when water is suddenly coming through your kitchen ceiling. They also went the extra mile to find me a drywaller who wouldn't rip me off. That was awesome."

"R.A Barker did a great job with the work we needed done around our house. We had multiple jobs that we needed complete. We needed the exterior doors of our house replaced, a bay window replaced, and new attic steps put in. With all of the jobs there were some fixes that needed to be done from original installation. R. A. Barker handle all of that and fixed the issues left from previous work. He was professional, knowledgeable, and thorough. I would definitely recommend R.A. Barker to anyone looking to have work done."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.

The water supply lines run underneath the bathtub. These two pipes deliver cold and hot water to the bathtub—the cold water comes from the main water supply, and the hot water comes from the water heater. The pipes are made from copper, cream-colored plastic CPVC, or red and blue PEX tubing.

Installing a walk-in bathtub can be worth it if it improves the user's safety and independence. However, because walk-in tubs require a large investment, not every homeowner has the means or desire to install one. As an alternative, some homeowners prefer to install a walk-in shower and transfer bench instead. Walk-in showers cost between $1,150 and $8,000, making them far more budget-friendly in comparison.

Yes, you can remove a bathtub yourself if you have previous DIY experience and basic plumbing knowledge. You should have at least one other person help you if you approach this project as a DIY. However, hiring a plumber or bathroom remodeling pro can prevent accidental damage from demolition or water leakage.

Acrylic bathtubs can last up to 30 years without major issues if they receive the right care and maintenance. They can last even longer but might scratch or stain as they age. The expected longevity is a major factor when investing in a new tub. Cast-iron tubs are the longest-lasting option.
