Kurt and his crew were very professional and pleasant throughout the entire project.  When it came time to make a final choice on plants, Kurt met with us at a local nursery and guided us through the selection process.  His knowledge of each plant?s growth habit and good/bad points was extremely helpful.  The installation processes went very smoothly and we are thoroughly pleased with how the plants and lighting enhance the appearance of the house.  We give Kurt our highest recommendation.

"When we moved into our new house we had a number of remodeling projects. Josh added on a laundry room in our kitchen and built a large walk-in storage area with shelving. He also installed more efficient lighting fixtures in the living room and storage closet. We have had many compliments on the work from friends who come into our house. Josh was trustworthy, honest, easy to communicate with about the work and punctual in completing work on time. Josh is a creative, skillful and very capable craftsman."

"There was a delay in setting up the appointment and I had to call back.
Once appointment was made, she came without a full crew due to some personnel issues.
I telework from home and was in a phone conference whenshe asked for my help in lifting the lawn mower onto her truck; the mower was just in case she had room.
She took the lawn mower but left (without notifying me) a piece of furniture (side table).  I would have preferred she take the furniture and left the lawn mower, which still had value when repaired.

"I contacted them via phone and left a message describing the job I wanted done . They phoned me a couple of days later and asked about the size of the tree and the location so they would know
what tools were needed. They said that sometimes they need to use the truck to pull the roots up. I gave them a description of the tree and its location and they quoted me a price of $210 over the phone. I sent them a picture via my iphone of the tree and the road in front of my house. They reviewed the picture and said they could do the job. I really appreciated discussing the job with them on the phone as another company I called did not. They said they could do it the next day in the late morning and I told them to come on out! They arrived at my house around 10 am and they were able to make quick work of the job. They  first cut the tree down with a chain saw and then dug the roots out with a pick axe and did not have to use the truck. They didn't damage any of the surrounding plants in my flower  bed. They also dumped some topsoil I had bought into the hole left by the roots. They took all debris with them and cleaned up my sidewalk afterward. They were very friendly and efficient. They did a great job!

"
We are very pleased with the new entrance!  Kargman's was easy to work with, efficient, reliable, punctual and professional.  The guys who performed the work did a beautiful job from larger scale down to details.  They also offered suggestions when we were unsure exactly how to do something (e.g. they recommended extending the tile flooring up onto the step where the original door stood).  Every day the work area was cleaned up and trash removed. They also brought or went to get all the supplies/equipment they needed for the job.  In the beginning, Jim consulted with us to figure out how we should do this (we do not have experience with construction).  Happy customer!"

"They were not the cheapest but we were most impressed with their supplies of siding samples and their knowledge in being able to explain the different types of siding. We feel we got our value and we can honestly say we don't have one single complaint. Very responsive with me. The workers were also very great at cleaning up everyday even though they knew they were coming back the next day."

Greenhouses and Nurseries questions, answered by experts

Eco-friendly materials include sustainably-sourced woods, recycled metals, low-VOC paints, and non-toxic sealants, which reduce environmental impact. Using these in repairs promotes sustainability and can improve indoor air quality and overall building health.

Adding burnt charcoal to your garden beds and plant pots can yield several benefits, but there are risks involved, too. Charcoal, particularly biochar, can enhance soil structure, improve water drainage, and increase nutrient retention. When activated, charcoal provides key nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. However, burnt charcoal, especially from briquettes, can inadvertently alter soil's pH levels and become hazardous to plants. Overall, there are better and less risky soil amendments available, such as vermiculite, perlite, or wood chips.

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

Minor fixes like patching leaks or repainting are DIY-friendly, but structural repairs require professional expertise.

The quickest way you can protect plants and trees from frost is to cover them with garden blankets or frost cloths. Also, bringing potted plants or trees indoors is much simpler than trying to cover and protect them outdoors. Remember to anchor blankets with something such as sandbags, fabric pins, or rocks if the forecast calls for strong winds to keep them from blowing away and exposing your trees and plants.
