"I needed a complete basement remodel, which also included electrical wiring. When I presented my ideas to Qualified Remodlers, the owner, Joe listened and asked questions to get an understanding of exactly what I wanted. Joe presented a better plan and a way for me to stay within my budget. This company has an excellent crew who work fast and produce outstanding work. Due to the outstanding job that they were doing with the basement, I also hired Qualified Remodlers to paint the siding and all other exterior trim of my house. I am pleased with this work also. The basement remodel is beyond my greatest expectations, and I look forward to hiring Qualified Remodelers for future projects."

"DVR was the best remodel work I have ever had. Did my upstairs, main floor and basement. The work was detailed and precise. Including new fireplace. Outside work included my pier, decks, stairs and paving work. They stand behind all their work as they responded quickly to any concerns I had. Price was by far the best I found. Lastly, they are good people too. That is what I liked the best."

"The work was done very professionally and timely and to my complete satisfaction.  The finished product is absolutely beautiful.  At conception, they came up with ideas that would make the room better for my elderly mother which I appreciated.  Also, along the way with constructon, if I wanted to change something, they always were agreeable and would do what I was requesting.  They finished the addition in the time frame promised.   Attention to detail was incredible.   There was no punch list at the end.   It was just perfect.   I would definitely use them again, in fact I have.   During this last major rain storm, there was water coming in around my chimney.  I called Edvin.  He came out at night with a worker to get up in my attic and determine where the water was coming from.   They determined the problem and corrected it within a few days.   My basement also flooded during this period.  They were there on the spot the next day removing my carpeting, cutting out the drywall at the base so no mold would grow and installing a sub-pump.   I love this company, and would highly recommend them.

Small jobs welcome

"They had wonderful customer service and they were very personable. They completed everything in a timely fashion and made sure to get my input throughout the drywall install and finishing. I needed one of the basement walls waterproofed before they could finish installing the drywall and they were very accommodating. I am very happy with my finished basement."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Walkout basements are not generally included in a home’s square footage, although they may be if they meet certain conditions that depend on local regulations. A finished walkout basement used as a living space may be counted toward square footage in some locations as long as all codes for livable space are met.

Kitchens and bathrooms are typically the most expensive rooms to renovate. The high cost is due to several factors, including expensive appliances like ranges, hoods, and refrigerators, as well as costly fixtures. The 'bones' of the room, such as electrical and plumbing, are also expensive to move or replace. Because of the vast amount of prep work, finishing, and specialized labor involved in a relatively small footprint, these projects can cost double or more than a living space remodel. Even when trying to renovate on a budget, kitchens and bathrooms will likely carry a hefty price tag.

Although it’s not required, air ventilation in a finished basement can help improve the air quality, prevent moisture and mold issues, keep musty odors away, and also maintain the air quality throughout the rest of your home. Proper ventilation will help maintain the value of your investment in finishing your basement. Try basement ventilation methods like installing vents or a dehumidifier for best results.

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement.

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. Be sure to avoid painting multiple coats onto any wires, as that traps heat and poses fire risks.

In many homes, an unfinished basement is an ideal place for an in-ground pool. The concrete floors, protection against water damage, and access to the ground below your home make this a large contender. Speak with a local basement remodeling contractor to ensure your space is right for the large construction.
