"Forget Len the Plumber. Use Eric Straus instead. He is efficient, professional, and reasonably priced. Due to a knee replacement, I needed a higher toilet and a grab bar. ASAP. I called Eric in the morning. Everything was done by late afternoon. He purchased the toilet for me and took the old one to the dump. He's friendly. You won't be disappointed in him. He's a gem."

"Orbit installed a Puronics water filtration system in my home over a month ago and all I can say is WOW! It is by far the best investment I have made for my family. I knew our county water was harsh and heavily chlorinated (I could smell and taste it), but I had no idea what a tremendous difference a Puronics system would make on everything in my home from bathing my kids, washing dishes, doing laundry and preventing water rings in my clean toilets. The alkaline drinking water is the cherry on top! This system has by far exceeded all of my expectations. Not only is this system the best in the industry, Orbit’s team, lead by Shelby, was exceptional, kind, and amazing to work with. I received wonderful customer service every step of the way. All of my questions were answered with factual information and data. Our installer, Travis, was very knowledgeable and further solidified working with Orbit was a great decision for my family. A high quality install was a must for me, especially with plumbing involved. The lifetime warranty Orbit provides stands alone in comparison to their competitors. While a Puronics system is more costly than the DIY system available from a local hardware store, it is worth every penny and will stay with my family for life. The quality is in a league of its own! I highly recommend!!!"

"This was the BEST experience we have ever had with a
contractor.  Based on Angie?s List
reviews, we chose Paul Bender, the Tile Artisan, to remodel our large master
bathroom.  We are very glad we did!
We were happy to get the team of Willy and Genaro to do the
work.  Willy, the lead installer, is a
true artisan.  His precision and
attention to detail are exceptional.  Willy?s
artistic flair and precision tiling made the bathroom look like a spa in an
upscale resort.  The 12 x 24 porcelain
floors, with very small grout lines, portray the appearance of a seamless
expanse of cerma marfil marble.  The
shower tile, laid in a diamond pattern, along with the listello and tiled
shower pan, bring a sense of tranquility to the room.
Our master bathroom is rather large, about 10? x 20?.  The work consisted of demolition down to the
studs; securing the subfloor, expanding the shower about 2 feet (including
moving the shower piping and drain); building a kneewall; tiling the entire
floor of the bathroom, a closet and water closet; building a tiled shower pan,
tiling the shower wall, installing new baseboards and reinstalling the toilet.
The work went very well.
Willy and Genaro are very focused and talented hard workers.  They are also very nice people.  They took very good care of our home
throughout the process.  The owner, Paul
Bender and Josh the project manager were extremely accessible and helpful.  They are very good problem solvers.  They have great ideas and always promptly
returned our phone calls whenever we had questions or were seeking advice.  Paul even included a complementary sealing of
our marble pencil tile and marble shelves.
The price was not the highest bid we received nor the
lowest.  But we believe we got
exceptional value for our money.
Based on our experience, we enthusiastically recommend (and
have recommended) The Tile Artisan for remodeling.

"Pros: It went well, and the overall quality is good - they offered alternative solutions other contractor estimates did not (to help lower the cost). They take pride in their work and are willing to go the extra mile for satisfaction, even after work completion. Cons: We put our deposit in and signed a contract a few months before the job, and it wasn't until a week or two before the job we found out the material was discontinued (after we already selected paint color and floor design from separate contractor) We were forced into their schedule, after noting certain restrictions we had with working midnight shift. (for items like inspections and lingering things after the "scheduled" work was complete)."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Adding another bathroom isn’t the most complicated project you can undertake, but it’s in the top 5%. Anything involving plumbing and electrical work should be handed off to a pro, and adding a half bath involves both. A contractor may charge $70 to $120 an hour for labor, but chances are they can work much faster and more accurately than a DIYer.

While a toilet dripping on the outside can be caused by condensation, a toilet that is constantly dripping on the inside is usually caused by a deteriorated flapper. This is one of the most common types of toilet leaks. As the flapper degrades, it won’t seal properly, and water will constantly leak into the toilet.

You should choose the type of toilet that meets your budget, fits properly in your space, and matches the rest of your decor. If you’ve never gone toilet shopping before, you might be surprised at how many options are available. Most homeowners choose a two-piece toilet, which is the industry standard, and a gravity flush system is the most common. However, dual-flush and low-flush toilets are becoming more prevalent as more people become conscious of water consumption.

According to the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), the distance between your trap and the vent should be no more than 6 feet. For your vent to work properly, it needs to feed into the drain line within 6 feet of trapways that connect to it. Using this formula, you should be able to determine whether you will need multiple vent lines.

The main causes for a leaky toilet flapper include wear and tear or a broken or incorrectly installed toilet flapper chain. If your toilet flapper is torn or deteriorated, it can’t provide a proper seal to keep water from running. Meanwhile, a chain that has come loose, was moved, or just wasn’t installed right can prevent your flapper from fully closing.
