Mr. David Titus and his AKC team did an excellent job. All expectations were met and the price was fair. The team was polite, answered any questions i had, worked with my schedule, were timely everyday, and finished the project early. Also the team cleaned up all work spaces everyday which was a nice touch. Recommend Dave and his team for all your Kitchen/Bathroom remodel/repair needs. Will hire again for the next project. v/r Steve & Sandra Greeley -Tall Timbers MD

Very well. Advanced Kitchen Concepts recently came out to replace a toilet and upgrade a bathroom light sconce. They always arrive on time, get the jobs done on schedule and within the estimate. Dave Titus is an excellent craftsman and clearly enjoys what he does (nice person too). We called them back because Advanced Kitchen Concepts had done such a great job completely remodeling our kitchen and master bathroom (we have a 1968 ranch house). Dave had also shown me photos of some high-end kitchens that he had remodeled. For our older house, he had some great suggestions and even brought along tile and cabinet samples. Our kitchen looks great and it is compatible with the rest of our home. The kitchen is very modern, but it’s not like one is walking into a “new house”. It transitions nicely into the dining room. Same with the bathroom. Dave has many contacts for appliances, lighting, etc. and was willing to share them with us (and I am not talking Home Depot or Lowes here). I highly recommend including Advanced Kitchen Concepts in your list of contractors from whom you will ask for estimates. Kindest Regards, John & Laura Jelks, Chesapeake Beach, MD

We are so pleased with the work that Dave Titus of Advanced Kitchen Concepts did. From start to finish he was courteous, and excellent in this craftsmanship. He offered us ideas that we hadn't thought of before. His price was competitive or better than other estimates we received. His schedule is busy because he is so good but it was well worth the wait!

Our house is 45 years old. Typical St. Mary's county single floor ranch-style. We raised 3 kids in this house and have lived in it for 27 years. The two bathrooms reached the point where another coat of paint or a new washer in the plumbing would sustain us for another year. Both baths were simply worn out and tired looking - it was time for a total remodel.
We contacted several local contractors and accepted their offers but we never "connected" with them and for the amount of money we were willing to spend - we wanted to know the contractor & us were on the same page with a shared vision.
We had used Angie's List when we replaced our home's windows and were more than pleased with the selected contractor.
We turned to Angie's List again and found Dave Titus of Advanced Kitchen Concepts..
Dave showed up right on time for the appraisal appointment. We showed him our current bathrooms and what our visions were for remodeling. Dave immediately jumped in and gave us his professional insights to our ideas and offered a few we hadn't even thought of. By the end of the appointment we knew had found our contractor and signed the paperwork / handed Dave a check.
I wanted to save some money by demo'ing the bathrooms myself. Dave insisted he wanted to do the demo himself and it wouldn't save that much money to be worth my effort. Glad i listened. As Dave took both rooms apart he learned what was behind the sheetrock and how the house was assembled in 1969. It gave him insight into how to correctly compensate for some decisions made 45 years ago.
In all matters on the rebuild you deal directly with Dave. Construction, plumbing, electrical - you dealt with Dave and no subcontractor (ever). Dave took total responsibility for the job and the one-on-one relationship we developed really helped when the unexpected occurred (and it did) and we had to make on the spot decisions.
Don't know which end of a hammer to pick up? No problem - Dave has every aspect of you remodeling under his care and control. As the customer your biggest part of the job is to pick wall color; cabinet stain; & fixture finish.
Every day upon arrival - drop cloths were put down to protect our floors along their main pathway of work.
Every day Dave & his crew stopped work  a bit early and cleaned up the debris from the day, put away their tools, and when they were done the work site looked ready for a military inspection.
We shopped at Home Depot & Lowes for our tile choices for the floor & tub enclosures, the towel racks, etc.
Dave smiled, shook his head 'no', and took us to tile & fixture showrooms where the quality was several notches up from what we were looking at. Our new baths will last another 45-50 years due to the materials Dave uses by default.
By agreement we did the main hallway first and when that was accepted by us - the master bath was tackled. Each bath was covered by its own contract. At no time was a porta-potty needed due to open plumbing or exposed wiring. Dave made sure we were able to live in our house every step of the way.
One thing i want everyone to know - Dave has respect for the building materials.
What do you mean? There were several times work would start at 9am and they were packing up to leave at noon.
By the look on our faces Dave had to explain he could go no further till the spackling was absolutely 100% dry before sanding/painting or the installed tiles had to 100% set in place before grouting and the grout itself needed to cure 24 hours before anyone entered the room again. These small but important attention to details ensured no hidden micro-cracks were created and long-term service-life was built-in. Dave took the time needed to do things right - he was in no rush to finish our rooms so he could move on to the next customer.
As for the workmanship - I wish we could include photos. The walls are seamlessly smooth. Close examination will not reveal where the boards of sheetrock meet. or where screws penetrated - an absolute great job of spackling & finishing.
Paint is flawless - no sloppy edges or sagging because the second coat was applied too early,
All sight lines are straight.  The eye sees  the relationship between the sink vanity, the wall cabinets & mirrors, the towel racks, and the light fixtures. There is no visual slope to one side or the other nor anything mounted off-center.
It's a shame when the best rooms in your house are now the baths. The rest of the house started showing its age in comparison. Our quick fix was to ask Dave if he had time to replace our false mahogany veneer doors. After all these years they had more holes in them from posters, mirrors, sibling fights - they were simply sad.
We went with prehung white six panel Masonite doors as the replacement. Once the job was started we wanted to apologize to Dave for getting him involved. After 45 years were wasn't a plumb door opening in our house. Each and every door had to be
custom-fitted and fiddled with. No pop-in & pop-out job here - these doors fought us every inch of the way. But when it was all said and done what a difference the new doors made throughout the house!
Would we hire Dave & AKC again? You bet! We're even planning our next remodel job as i type this.
The total time for both baths to be done plus the doors - we had Dave in our house for nine weeks (that's two months) and in all that time the wife felt safe being alone in the house with them Always on their best behavior and courteous to a fault.             He'd be welcome over anytime after these remodelings for a backyard BBQ.
Hopefully this gives you a feel for dealing with AKC yourself. A six-star rated company in our view.

We bought a foreclosure and the bathroom was a disaster. I thought the only that would fix it was a bulldozer and stick of dynamite. Dave gave us some great ideas and helped us pick out materials. He explained how the project would go and gave a great feeling of confidence. The project  took a few days longer because of the holidays, but it was no big deal. He showed on the Monday before Thanksgiving and the demo work was done in a day. He laid out blankets to take care of our floors and he cleaned up every day. Tools were in their boxes, extension cords wrapped up, blankets folded. That in itself was professional. We are very happy with the job Dave and his team did for us and we are happy to recommend him to friends and family. We are looking forward to remodeling our kitchen next year and Dave is the only person we'll be calling.

The process went well.  Mr. Titus was very responsive and met with me shortly after an inquiry.  He came out to my house to review what I needed done and was willing to work with me to allow me to self-perform some of the items in the interest of keeping my cost down (this was a repair/remodel that was unexpected due to a leak).  I liked his thoughts but informed him I would was still interested in soliciting others.  He had no issues with this and seemed to take a genuine understanding of our position.  Over the next week, we exchanged emails and ultimately calls tweaking scope and price.  Ultimately I pulled the trigger, signed the contract and he started work two days later I believe.
He completed the work he quoted and even took on the task of completely removing the subfloor that suprisingly had nearly an inch of concrete mudmat.  This was unknown to both of us and he didn't ask for a dime.  This impressed me.  I am a very fair person in these situations and this was a grey area in my opinion.  I will speak more of that in a bit.
He said the work would take 3-4 days and it did.  The first day he worked, I came home and was immediately impressed that he had laid down blankets/matting through my house to not damage or dirty anything in his path.  It seemed any time he made any debris or dust, he was on it before it had a chance to hit the floor.  The room was blocked off and not in use, but just the same, each night he left, it was spotless and organized.  This speaks to his professionalism.
Another highlight for me was his willingness to engage with me and my family.  I am big in staying out of the way but sometimes my schedule only allowed for a few minutes of face to face interaction.  He was willing to explain everything and give me a complete and honest update.  Just as important, I have two little kids (3 and 18 mos) running around during the day and a 6 yo that is home around 4.  Mr. Titus likely fielded 100 questions an hour on average from the group (anyone with little kids understands).  He smiled and interacted with them like it was no issue at all.  As much as my wife and I tried to coral the kids and keep them out of his way - sometimes that is tough to do.  He took it in stride and so did his helpers (when he used them).
Ultimately, the work got done on time and at the price his quoted.  As noted above, he even went above and beyond (subfloor, some touch up/detail work, bought an extension for the toilet flange due to the subfloor depth) and didnt ask for a dime.  The bathroom was left in the exact same manner as we discussed it.
There were really no issues at all.  In fact, due to all of the above (his cleanliness, professionalism, interaction with my family, etc) and the fact that he faced some obstacles that likely caused him time, I willingly paid a few more bucks than we agreed to.  He never asked for a dime above his quote but I knew some issues were a gray area at best and cost him time.  And given all the possitive things I noted above, he had earned it.
One clarification to note about my scoring.  I gave a "B" for the following reason:  I view and A as indicating a tremendous value.  IE - you received a fantastic product for a fantastic price.  Using such a benchmark, I gave a B due to my feeling that I got a fair value.  I believe I got what I paid for and AKC did exactly what we discussed for a reasonable price.  Their price was inline with other quotes (reasonable) and the product was as advertised.  This is a possitive to me.  I think I was charged a reasonable price for the work requsted and they provided what was detailed.
I would definately recommend AKC and Mr. Titus for future work.

I had an entire new shower installed.  It is a two person shower and is fully tiled and has a regular shower head, rain head from the ceiling and a hand held.  The old shower had a glass enclosure so Dave built new walls in place of the glass so I now have a beautiful door-free shower.  Dave and his crew were reliable, neat and friendly.  There were only three of them.  No subcontractors, so no strange people coming and going.  Also, I am a clean freak and truly appreciated that they cleaned (even my stairs) each day when they were finished.  I will use them next time I need a remodel!!

Dave handled all aspects other than cutting and installation of the countertop, though he arranged that as well and was there to ensure it was installed perfectly, as it was.  He worked on my renovation every day until it was complete (weekends excepted of course) and was not trying to do other jobs at the same time, which I really liked!  He always took the time to explain what he was doing and answered all our questions.  When we wanted specific items or styles of materials, he took care of it without flinching and didn't haggle over any price differences.  His goal from beginning to end was to make sure we were happy.  And we were! Thanks Dave!

Dave (the owner) was always here, he never sent employees alone. He was always here when he said he would be. They covered the floor from my front door all the way up the stairs and into the master bedroom with drop clothes so to avoid tracking in dirt or dust. They cleaned up and vacuumed daily.

Dave is a nice friendly happy guy and seemed very experienced, competent and professional. This was my first time using Angie's list, as I had just the opposite experience several years ago when i attempted to remodel the same shower.

It's been a couple of months now and we are very pleased with the look and quality of our new shower from Dave's company.

Advanced Kitchen Concepts did a fantastic job remodeling our 1980’s bathroom.  They put in a new shower, toilet, sink, cabinets, lighting, vent fan, and tile on the floor and walls. The bathroom had to be taken down to the studs, with a layer of old remodeling taken out as well.  Our goal was a functional, easy to clean bathroom that looked beautiful.  Dave Titus and crew did just that. They were on time, on schedule, on budget, and cleaned up after every day of work (inside and outside).  AKC did the carpentry, plumbing, electrical, tile, and painting work.
Remodeling  started with a new shower pan, replacing dry wall with cement sheet rock and putting up tile in the shower and bathroom floor. The room wall is tiled half way up. The sink counter has silestone that matches the kitchen counter, and the cabinets are a medium maple wood.  Dave’s knowledge of materials was tremendously helpful in picking attractive and easy to clean shower pan and shower tiles. For lighting and fixtures, he suggested we pick out the fixtures and sent us to stores with good selections.
A tough addition was adding a pocket door to connect the bathroom to my wife’s home office. AKC picked the door and made it look like it belonged. Overall, we are very pleased and would recommend AKC for bathrooms or kitchens because of their craftsmanship, reliability, knowledge of materials, and experience.

Advanced Kitchen Concepts did a great job from start to finish, updating our 1960’s kitchen to a useful and beautiful kitchen. Dave Titus and crew were swift and clean with the demolition, taking our kitchen down to the walls and even studs where a space hog of a pantry closet was removed. The crew cleaned up (even mopped) after every day of work. We were left with working appliances right up to the point of swapping out appliances and new plumbing. Dave’s experience really showed with his ability to design a functional kitchen (from a summer kitchen), and in his knowledge of materials. When he came for the sales call, he had samples for stone counters, cabinets, tile, etc. When we were frustrated trying to pick out four appliances in Annapolis, he sent us to a store that got us what we wanted. Same for the lighting and fixtures.  Dave does it all, having plumbing and electrical licenses, and good wood working skills. We had been concerned about continuity with other companies who had a different crew (subcontractor) for each phase of work.
Sure, there was a delay on the start (cabinets hadn’t arrived), but we were warned about it days in advance. Sure, there were problems with trying to bring a 1960’s kitchen up to date and up to code, but Dave and crew worked through them, giving us options from which to choose. Our kitchen was finished 3 days ahead the projected completion date, and for the price that was quoted. We are now hiring AKC to remodel our bathroom.

I had informed Advanced Kitchens that I was only looking for a partial kitchen redesign; i.e., one that included only counter space, not cabinets, etc.  He began just talking about what could be done, not putting anything to paper.  I informed him that I had paid for a 3-d design on paper. That's when he informed me that Angie got the money, not his company, which surprised me.  He then went beyond the counter design and took existing counter measurements in order to provide an estimate for installing granite tops.  I was pleased with the information about quartz vs. granite - pros and cons.  I cannot rate the company on the product yet because I won't get it until about 2 weeks from Aug.27.    He was, however, very knowledgeable and professional during the measuring and sketching phase.
I'm still surprised that Angie got the "Big Deal" money for this, not the company!!  Angie is really raking in the bucks!!

everything went well.  Not sure how long this sort of things take but got antsy after weeks of waiting for the sketches to arrive.

I did question Dan regarding the length of time it took to deliver drawings and he had unexpected issues to arise

then we played a game or two of phone tag but Dans sketches were everything we had discussed.  He did an excellent job.  When we are ready to make this kind of commitment we will consider Advanced Kitchen Concepts.

I am quite pleased with the way that Angie's list is set up to include the follow up.  I will continue to take advantage of the special pricings for some time to come.

Thank you

David Titus visited with us a few days after initial contact.  He was very professional, friendly and informative.  He looked over the two other bathrooms in our house which we remodeled ourselves within the past 2 years to get a good idea of what we wanted in a
bathroom.  He provided an estimate on the day he visited, and gave us a fairly good idea of what he had in mind for us.  We have a wedding in the family soon with lots of out-of-town guests coming in, so we wanted the job done fairly quickly.  Mr. Titus came by the next day to show us some tile (floor and bath) suggestions which we chose from.  What we really liked about his company is that it maintains its own warehouse of quality products so there was virtually no lead time required for ordering and waiting for the tub, cabinet, tiles, mirror, fan lighting, etc.  He did all of the work himself, but did have one helper assist with gutting the bathroom and another young helper for 3 days who helped out with cutting tiles.  He's a workhorse who gets started early in the morning, doesn't take time off to go to lunch, and puts in a full day of productive work.  Our walls aren't exactly square, but Mr. Titus did a great job compensating, including recommending and installing crown molding.  Although he originally planned to put in tile soap and shampoo holders, but was honest with us about the possibility of them breaking off down the road because the off-square walls and we decided to just hang a nice holder off the showerhead.  We're very happy with the finished product and the time in which  it was completed.  Although it will probably be a few years before we're ready to remodel our kitchen, we definitely plan on giving David Titus a call when we do.

Advanced Kitchen Concepts provided detailed estimates for each bathroom which also served as a contract.  Dave Titus, owner of Advanced Kitchen Concepts, gave specific start dates and showed up on time.  Dave and his expert workers were here every day of the project without fail.  We didn't have to wait for subcontractors as Advanced Kitchen Concepts performs all aspects of the remodel, plumbing, electrical, tiling, painting/trimming and finishing.  They gutted each bathroom, removed all debris and kept the mess and inconvenience to an extreme minimum.  They cleaned up every evening.  Each bathroom was completed before they started the next.  We had ceramic tile installed in two of the bathrooms and couldn't be more pleased with the final product.  Their attention to detail is exceptional.  I had no problems with Dave and company during the job and I'm 100% pleased with the finished project.  I have worked with contractors before that were terrible to deal with, were unreliable and we weren't happy when the job was done.  I believe Dave provides an unusual level of expertise and has great pride in doing the best job possible.  This isn't easy to find in the home improvement business.  Believe me, I know.  I have other project in mind for the future and will definitely call Dave when we're ready.

Dave and crew were always professional and showed up when they said they would.  The job was completed on time and the crew cleaned up after each day's effort.  They did there best to keep the drywall dust to a minum which made my wife happy.  Dave worked hard to keep the costs down while using quality materials.  I am planning on using Dave to finish the basement job I had started years prior.  I highly recommend Dave Titus & Advanced Kitchen Concepts to anyone contemplating a remodeling job!!  Thanks Dave!

During this whole process, we continued to live in our home while the work was being done.  David accomodated us so well that we were able to have meals, shower and live here quite comfortably.  He was so respectful of our needs.  The job could not have gone any smoother.  One expects to have difficulties when remodeling, but everything was planned out so well.  We encountered no headaches or foul ups.  The work was completed to our great satisfaction and still looks brand new to this day.  His suggestions for cabinets, countertops, lighting and plumbing fixtures and flooring (both tile and carpet for upstairs) was spot on.  He took the time to ask questions as to our likes and dislikes which led him to make his suggestions.  I would and have recommended David to my friends and will continue to do so.
