I contacted the owner Paul Bender in April for an estimate. He arrived promptly and after chatting about the project, he said he would have an estimate for me within a couple of days. I received the estimate the next day and the price was very fair. We then scheduled the work for June 1-2.

On Monday Paul, Dennis and Victor showed up promptly at the scheduled time. Paul discussed with them what needed to be done, then they got straight to work. They removed the existing tile, took down the microwave and moved the oven. Once that was done, they installed the new tile into the thinset. They then left for the day while the tile set up. 

The next morning when Dennis and Victor showed up (again, right on schedule), it was raining. They put down tarps on the hardwood so that they wouldn't damage it. I very much appreciated their thoughtfulness. They installed the grout and put back the microwave and oven. Once they were finished they did a thorough job of cleaning up all the debris, including wiping down my countertops.

I was very impressed with how smoothly everything went. I have to mention that I ordered the tile online, and when I opened one of the boxes, there were numerous tiles that were cracked. But due to the skill of Victor's cutting and Dennis' placement, they were able to use most of the cracked tiles.

The estimate and final cost of the labor was $1,500. The estimate included $150 for materials, but Paul only charged me for what Dennis and Victor used which was $50.

The backsplash looks incredible, and I will not hesitate to use Paul and his crew for future tile work.

"It went great! I didn't want to spend a lot of money. Their sales person( Mr. Williams), met me at the house and showed me several ways to keep the cost down. I had decided on granite counter tops for durability and maintenance but knew very little about the product. Mr. Williams took me to the show room that they use and answered all my questions about the different grades of granite offered. We found a color that blended well with my flooring. "George was very professional when we first dealt with him and did a satisfactory job.  However, when we wanted him to do smaller jobs, he did not respond or set up dates to come and then did not show up nor did he call.  His father, who is the actual owner of George's Painting, came to our house for an estimate to have 3 closet shelves installed (the metal mesh type) for hwich he wanted $650.00.  We thought that was entirely too much as the material cost less than $100.  We looked for someone else off of Angie's list and got an excellent person who only charged $200 which was more reasonable and on top of that did an excellent job.    In addition we are having numerous other things done at reasonable prices.  Had I waited a bit longer, I could have gotten my house painted much cheaper as well.  George is overpriced and does not respond when you call or will he make an appointment with you and then not keep it.  I am glad I found someone else who is capable of doing what we want, is professional, does excellent work and his price is more reasonable.    I have already had work done by this other company and we are very satisfied.

"We requested estimates from 2 companies, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and Surfside Plumbing.  Benjamin Franklin responded punctually and gave us a written estimate.  We wanted to check prices so we called Surfside.  It took a couple of calls, but my husband finally spoke with the owner of Surfside.  He said it wasn't necessary to come out and look at the job and he quoted an hourly rate and an estimate of 1 to 3 hours to complete the job.  His estimate was considerably lower than Benjamin Franklin.  We told him we'd buy the sink and faucets and call to schedule an appointment.  Within a week we had both.  We called to schedule. 

The owner answered our call after several tries to reach him and said he would call back when reached his office.  No return call.  After a few days we finally called and spoke to the owner.  He said he would be out the next day.  He came out and suggested that the sink we purchased would not work well with our silestone counter top.  I agreed and we decided to buy a better quality sink.  Within a week we had the new sink.   Again we tried to schedule an appointment.  It took about a week to finally connect with the owner.  Our sink was finally installed.  The men that were sent to do the work did a great job.  And we saved a couple hundred dollars on installation.  Even considering the problems with scheduling, I think the owner tries to accommodate customers too much, we are very happy with the work that was done.
