"Hinojosa and Serrano Construction provided exemplary quality work and professional communication. The quote was detailed and clearly identified the work that would be done and the pricing. We had a foundation crack that appeared to be above ground only. Luis advised that he allow his team to excavate down a little to assess the extent of the situation. As it turned out, the project was a little more involved than originally anticipated. Despite the additional work required, Luis honored our originally agreed-upon price and did not cut any corners. Integrity at the highest level in the contracting business for construction projects. Very impressed and will certainly recommend it to neighbors, friends, and family. The most important factor was our complete satisfaction. It is hard to identify reliable and trustworthy contractors these days. Rest assured, going with Hinojosa and Serrano Construction will take the stress away. The best phone call we made for the work we needed to be done. Will certainly use them for future projects."

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

While a high-speed circular saw will cut through metal, and even cut through multiple sheets at once, the fast-spinning saw blades create a lot of heat. This heat can damage paint and other protective coatings, leading to serious problems like rust over time. The cost to paint a metal roof again to avoid this damage is typically an additional $0.50 to $1 per square foot.

To maintain custom or fabricated metal structures and extend their lifespan and appearance, perform regular cleaning, apply rust prevention treatments, and use protective coatings.

Your typical household tools will not cut a metal pipe. To cut a metal pipe, you’d need more specialized tools like a pipe cutter or circular saw. Do not attempt to use these tools without taking proper safety precautions and wearing safety gear. It’s usually safer to let a pro cut a metal pipe, especially if you’re not confident in your skills with a heavy-duty saw.

There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:

  • Are you licensed and certified?

  • How long have you been in the welding business?

  • Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?

  • Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?

  • Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

  • How long do you expect my welding project to take?

  • What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?

The average cost for a welding project is about $300, with typical costs ranging from $125 to $490. However, prices can be as low as $125 for very small jobs or exceed $1,200 for large or complex projects. Welders typically charge an hourly rate between $65 and $150, depending on their experience, and many charge a minimum fee to cover overhead and travel expenses. The total cost is influenced by several factors, including labor, the cost of materials like metal rods and shielding gas, the type of metal being welded, the project's size and complexity, and your geographic location. For a precise quote, it's best to ask a local welder for an estimate based on your specific project.
