"I called a handyman to repair a wall in my basement which was deteriorating. He found that the damage was due to termites.  I consulted Angie's list and found that Bugout was one of the highest rated pest control firms in my area.  I called Bugout and told them about my problem.  Troy came out immediately and inspected the damage while the wall was still open.  He suggested spot treatment of three possible entrance routes and the installation of a Sentricon perimeter system.  I thought his proposal made perfect sense, his price was quite reasonable given what other providers were charging for similar services, and he was extremely responsive in doing the work and taking care of the problem.
Given the previous reviews I expected quality service and a reasonable price.  That is exactly what I received.  I could not have been more pleased with the quality of their work and their attention to customer service.

"Adcocks trapping does great work; The price is a bit steep I think but I had no problem paying it for the quality of the work that was done. I had Adcocks trapping come out almost 2 years ago now to seal my house against mice; I live in a home from 1963 and there were plenty of spots, some that I were not even aware of, for mice to get in. Adcock sent out an engineer I would have to say, as he went around my entire property documenting what needed to be sealed and presented that report to me. I then had the option to pay or not, no pressure, which I thought was excellent. With the amount of information they gave me, I could have tried to do it myself which I really appreciated. I decided to pay for the work and they came right out and sealed up the house real good. Ever since then, I have had ZERO mice. They gave me a 5 year warranty on the work they did. If I ever have any more pest issues, they will be the first ones I call."

Customers say: Quick response

"Once again, Josh from DMV Wildlife and Pest Solutions is my hero. I unfortunately found a bat in my basement which was trapped in a glue trap. Josh came out, examined my whole house for other bats, and offered some easy suggestions for how to keep another bat from potentially getting in. Luckily this bat was on a solo mission, but this was the second time I have called Josh and he is the best in the business! Very honest, knowledgeable, and friendly. I would recommend him to anyone for pest and wildlife issues!"

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Carpenter ants don’t eat wood. It’s a common misconception because many kinds of termites eat wood as well as live inside it. Carpenter ants, however, are omnivores and only chew into wood to create pathways and nests, discarding the chewed wood as frass which is a major indicator of a carpenter ant problem. They prefer to eat smaller insects, sweet things like spilled honey, and sources of protein like pet food.

The cost of pest control services depends on various factors, but the average homeowner pays around $175, with a typical range of $100 to $500. Your final cost will be influenced by the type of pest, the size and severity of the infestation, and the number of treatments needed.

Service costs also vary by frequency:

  • One-time service: $300–$550

  • Initial visit for ongoing service: $150–$300

  • Monthly visits: $40–$70

  • Quarterly visits: $100–$300

  • Annual visits: $300–$550

For specific pest examples, getting rid of spiders typically costs between $100 and $300, whereas a termite infestation can cost from $230 to $2,500 or more, depending on the extent of the damage.

No. Carpenter ants range far when seeking out food, usually proteins or sugars. They may be attracted to dead pests near your house, or crumbs in the kitchen or pantry. That doesn’t necessarily mean you have an infestation, or that there is a nest nearby. However, it does mean that the ants have found a way to enter your home, so it’s time to be vigilant.

You can use commercial repellents to help deter rodents, but they often have mixed results. A better solution is preventing rodents from getting under your home in the first place. Using steel wool or foam sealer, plug all potential entry points like gaps and cracks in the foundation.

Also, consider installing hardware cloth or wire mesh over vents, utility openings, and any openings under the porch or foundation. Regular inspections and maintenance will aid in early detection and prevention, ensuring a rodent-free environment beneath your house.

Consumer-brand foggers or bug bombs are considered safe overall. Still, it's essential to read the instructions carefully as the vacating time varies depending on the type of bug bomb you use. Most of the time, it's advised that all humans and pets are out of the area for at least two to four hours after initiating the fogger process. It's also a good idea to vent the space by cracking open some windows for several hours after you're back inside.
