A A Action Waterproofing was great from start to finish. We really needed a team with great knowledge and experience for the issues we were having in our basement. Rob and Paul Frederick were awesome and found a way for us to fit in all of the work that was needed within our budget. Thanks guys!

Straka Contracting LLC

Mr. Straka and his team were a pleasure to work with and will definitely be our go-to contractor for future work. Straka Contracting were very professional and spent time making sure they understood exactly what we were looking for in our new deck and suggested beneficial changes to help us achieve the functionality and look we wanted. During the demo of the old deck, a serious structural issue was found and the Straka team quickly and comprehensively explained the issue and worked quickly to fit the unexpected structural repair into their schedule as soon as they could to minimize the time the structural supports of the home were exposed to the elements. Straka Contracting took great care to obtain all of the necessary structural engineering plans and carefully planned a safe way to complete the dangerous repair that kept the team and occupants (including pets!) safe while the structural issues were fixed. They then worked quickly to finish the original deck rebuild and the finished products were very high quality work with great attention to aesthetic detail on the deck that provided small touches that elevated the look of the deck and matched the home’s trim and style. Their attention to detail was meticulous and the quality of work was outstanding. We will definitely be using Straka Contracting in the future for any additional large home projects

They did an outstanding job in our basement. Our customer experience was one of the best we have ever had. We had a small leak a year after the work and they came out the same day and determined with as a leaking water tank. We can't thank them enough how well we were treated. Will use them again and highly recommen

Aquaguard Waterproofing

WOW! What a difference it makes when you hire a REAL PROFESSIONAL. Five years ago when we hired another so-called "waterproofing company" to install an inside French Drain in our basement we thought we were saving money by their low price. Sadly, we soon discovered why their price had been so low. They actually had no actual waterproofing crews themselves but had sub-contracted the job people that I regret we let into our house. That sub-contracting crew had jack-hammered up our basement floor and actually damaged part of our foundation walls in the process. Although after the job was completed we didn't have any seepage again for almost 5 years - the damp musty smell never went away. When the basement started actually leaking again after heavy rains we called the original company who had given us a "Lifetime Warrenty" against seepage, only to discover that they had changed their name and would no longer guarantee the job they had contracted.to do on our home under their former name. What a rip-off! This time we were more careful. Instead of going with the cheapest price we chose the largest and oldest company in the area - Aquaguard Waterproofing of Beltsville, Maryland. The difference was apparent right from the beginning. When we called Aquaguard for a free estimate the call was taken by an actual human being - not an answering machine. They were very polite and professional and booked an appointment the very next day. The inspector arrived on time, spent about 15 minutes asking us questions about our home and previous experience with the other company. He then did a thorough inspection of our entire basement and even took us outside with him as he inspected the complete perimeter of our home. We all then sat around our dining room table while he explained and illustrated what had caused our basement problems in the first place and why the French Drain installed by the previous company had failed, as well as why it never had resolved the damp musty smell that had been emanating from stagnant water that had been festering inside the hollow cinder-blocks of our foundation for all these years. He also showed us reports from various health professionals confirming my suspicions that damp musty basements present certain health challenges to the occupants of such a home. What surprised us most however was that his inspection had revealed a series of stair-step cracks that were now expanding to horizontal cracks in the mortar joints between our cinder-block walls that - left unchecked - could have caused us serious structural issues in the future as the wall may bow inward with continued erosion. Our home was thankfully not yet at that stage. He explained that at some point the only solution to a water problem that has progressed to the point of having caused serious structural issues is an outside waterproofing system that involves excavation, back hoes , reparging and the like. He showed us that Aquaguard frequently does such work. However, at our stage the problem could still be effectively addressed using a water management system done largely from the inside of the basement that - although being a "compromise" with an excavation of the whole house, would still effectively resolve our issues at a much lower cost and less disruption of the property. He felt confident enough in this compromise solution to include with his proposal a lifetime guarantee against seepage that would also be transferable to the next owner - something that would be useful when it comes time for us to sell our home. His knowledge of our problem and the various options available to us far exceeded any other "inspector" who had ever come into our home to address the problem. Of course, remember we had been offered a "lifetime warranty" before by the previous company only to be disappointed. However, after learning from the website of the Maryland Department of Taxation and Assessments that unlike the previous company - Aquaguard has been in business under the same name for over 22 years we decided to this time go with the true professionals. That has turned out to be a very wise choice. The company worked with our schedule to arrange the job at a time that worked well for us. A soon as the crew arrived on the appointed day we knew we had made the RIGHT DECISION. The Aquaguard crew was older, much more experienced than the kids who the previous company had sub-contracted the French Drain job to five years ago. They worked with the efficiency of a well oiled machine. They began by moving our furniture to the center of the basement and covering it with tarps. One of the crew memebers even helped us unmount a television from the wall and carry it upstairs to prevent it from being damaged by the airborne concrete dust that would be created once they began the job in earnest. They pulled back the carpet and covered it with tarps. They even put up a curtain to keep the dust from coming upstairs. They didn't use the big air powered jack hammers the earlier crew had used to assault our foundation, but rather smaller, more precise electric tools that did't cause the kind of disruption and shaking of the house we had come to expect. They operated their tools and machinery with the familiarity and skill one attributes to that of a skilled surgeon performing his tasks with precise surgical instruments in an operating room. They removed the old out dated French Drain that had now become clogged with mud over the years and was no longer working. They repaired the structural undermining of our homes footer that had been caused by the French Drain encouraging water to wash out the ground from under the homes foundation. Once the old French Drain had been removed and the undermined footer reinforced with steel reinforced concrete, they installed a much shallower system next to the footer surrounded by lots of fresh gravel. Then they drilled what they called "weep holes" into the core of every cavity of every bottom cinder-block all the way around the perimeter of our basement. We were shocked to see the amount of smelly, stagnant water that came out. No wonder we have had suffering from asthma and respiratory problems with that nasty stuff sitting in our walls. They then fitted a special channeling system that they said had been designed by the Army Corps of Engineers to channel any future water that entered the wall to the sub-floor system and eventually the pumps so that no water could never again fester in the walls. The sub-floor system was sloped to two brand new sump pumps neatly installed into sealed containers below the floor with no open-pit or visible protruding pipe like old-fashioned pumps. They then replaced the concrete slab with some of the neatest and most beautiful cement work I have ever seen. In the finished part of our basement the water that had been stagnating inside our cinder-block walls had caused a discoloration on our drywall near the floor. However, when the Aquaguard foreman showed us that the other side of the drywall was much worse we were surprised at how much that fungus, mold or mildew had spread behind the drywall into the 2x4 lumber studs and our insulation. At our request he had his crew neatly cut the offending drywall, studs and insulation and haul them away with the other debris. They completed the job in record time and left our home neat and cleaner than we had expected after having so much serious construction work done. We were very happy with the job they had done and pleased we this time had hired the real experts. Then the day after our next heavy rain we got a call from Jane, the Aquaguard service manager, checking to make sure that the system was operating as designed under it's first real test. She asked us to walk around the entire basement with a flashlight to see if there were any damp spots so that if needed she could send a crew back out to make sure the job as 100% effective. We couldn't be more pleased with Aquaguard. It has been two months since they completed the job and our old smelly basement is a thing of the past. Even our respiratory symptoms seem to have subsided. I feel better just knowing that that old smelly stagnant water can't breed anywhere in the walls of my house any more. The house smells fresher all around and even seems cleaner than it was before we properly addressed the problem in the basement. In retrospect, the thousands of dollars we wasted five years ago with that other company in attempt to "save money" might have seemed "penny wise" at the time but it certainly turned out to be "pound foolish". We highly recommend going with the TRUE PROFESSIONALS the first time around. Once again we were given a LIFETIME WARRANTY - but this time it's from a 22 year old local company that we feel confident that be around to back it up

Very poor and unfair inspection. I have water coming into my house due to a contractor putting shorter gutters than what I originally had and the rain diverter is short too. I have water flowing into my house because there is nothing to take the water away. I never had any problems with my leaks in my house until this. The inspector, Robert Push, took pictures of other things other than the cause of the problem. When I pointed to him the evidence of what the cause of the issue showing the water marks streaming down from the roof in between the short gutter and short diverter, he ignored what I showed him and began to find other things to take photos of that had no relation or was even in the vicinity of the problem area to make his report look “professional”. He was hired by the contractor and was biased to what evidence I had. I even had video of that day and told him and he said nothing. The jargon in the report was constantly beating around the bush to what the problem was, saying that I should do a water test and then his conclusion was that it was wind driven rain that caused the problem. How can he make an analysis like that when he performed no tests and was at my house on a sunny day. The day I had the water come in there were no strong winds and I have video proving everything. If you are a contractor that wants to get away with some shady stuff, then these may be the people for you. But their inspection was very unprofessional, poor, and lacked integrity

PRECISION CARPENTRY & PLUMBING LLC

I had Precision build a 14 x24 addition on the back of of my house. The quality of the work was top notch and I would especially like to thank Kevin and Ricky for the attention to detail. I plan on using this company again for additional work and I have recommended them to friends. As far as pricing is concerned I won't say they were a bargain but they certainly were not the highest of the estimates I received. Furthermore, they provided a detailed estimate with itemized costs and they worked with me while I deleted some smaller items that I decided I would rather do myself (sweat equity-primarily painting). Finally, the work was completed in a timely fashion - no complaints about them disappearing for a week at a time. It may not seem important but when you have people working at your house for an extended period of time you want and enjoyable atmosphere, admittedly they are what my son would call "paid friends" but I enjoyed having these guys around, all of them were polite and friendly. Thanks! Updated 5/15/2021- Precision has now completed three contracts for me; the aforementioned addition, removing a wall between the living room and dining area and a small bathroom remodeling project. I continue to highly recommend this company and thanks again to the gentlemen (especially Ricky and Kevin again) who performed high quality work. In addition I would like to thank and recommend the owner's brother, Mike Dieterich, who did the plumbing work. I will point out that, like all contractors in the Greenville area, this company appears to be very busy so if the start and finish time is crucial to you I would advise you to clarify and specify that up front. I will say that Precision is pretty good about completing a job in a timely fashion once they start (they don't leave you hanging with a mess in your house which to me is the more crucial part of the timeline). Precision will and did subcontract out certain parts of any given job (in my case that would be the metal roof, electrical and floor tile) and I have been extremely happy with the subcontractors they selected. Thanks again

Everything was done professionally from the salesman, structural engineer and the team that performed the work. The work was started on the agreed time and the county inspection was on time. Once completed the team cleaned up and reseeded the yard leaving the yard as they found it. The team was respectful and very pleasant to deal with

This is one of the best companies of which I know, hands down. Jeff is very knowledgeable and willing to explain everything clearly, in great detail and willing to answer many questions. And perhaps most importantly, as far as I can tell, the content of his character is as good as it comes. He genuinely shows with his actions that doing a good job of helping people he doesn't even know seems to be more important to him than making a profit (which is not something I can say about nearly any other company that comes to mind). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I reached out to him a few months prior to writing this review, concerned about something in the structure of my house and stressed out. He responded promptly. Then, (still feeling stressed to a high degree), I followed up with one question and another and another - I don't know how many times. I honestly think most would have said something like "I'm sorry, but I can't continue responding to these forever." He said, "let's see if we can get this off your mind." and talked to me on the phone for a long time, answering many more questions I had, looking at pictures sent over email, and helping explain a good solution to something unrelated to the issue I began with. He asked me to send pictures when I was done (knowing that it would make me feel better if he looked at it afterwards, I believe). He never asked for any money, and when I asked if I could pay him, he said no. (I finally insisted. He put in a large amount of time, and I strongly believe he was owed more than he would let me give him.

"Brothers waterproofing did a wonderful job sealing our basement. Work entailed installing a french drain around the perimeter of our home and two sump pumps. Our estimate was clear and the price seemed reasonable given the extent of work required. Staff showed up on time, were polite and worked quickly. The owner also made it a point to visit the worksite and answer any questions we had. Of course the true testament to the workmanship is that we have not seen a drop of water in the basement since the job has been done.

"To Expert House Movers
We wanted to let you know just how pleased we are with the work you did on our house. Before we contacted you, we had several other contractors look at our home. We actually had hired another contractor, who took such a long time, never returned our calls, missed meetings, and took months to even get us our bid. And when that contractor did get us our bid, it was more than doubled our previously discussed budget!
That is when we called you, you came out immediately, was extremely professional, but more importantly, you had a personal interaction with both me and my wife throughout the entire process. You answered all our phone calls, all of our questions, and talked with us throughout the entire process. We felt extremely confident and assured through the entire lift. This house is our dream house and we are going to live in it until we die, and you knew how much it meant to us, and you took care of it as if it were your own.
As you know, my wife ended up in the hospital with some complications with her surgery while you were working on our home, and you took such great care of our house. You knew she was very disappointed that she could not be there, as she designed the foundation window placements and had a big part in the doors and steps. Your crew was so kind and so professional and meticulous, that they knew that two particular windows were very important to my wife. Your crew wanted to get them perfect and asked me some questions about them, that I could not answer. My wife was feeling better, but still in the hospital, and I called her on the phone, while your crew waited for me, as she and I discussed for several minutes the exact placement of the windows. Some minor changes had to be made and your crew could have easily just slapped the two windows in the new location, which was only slightly off of the original plan, and be done with it, but they stopped and pointed out where my wife originally wanted them and the new location difference and wanted to be sure that my wife understood the change, and wanted me to talk to my wife first. I was so very impressed that they made the adjustments on the spot that my wife suggested over the phone. I don’t think any other company would have gone through this much trouble to please their customers!
You also were very respectful of our property, neighbors, and your crew were always very willing to stop and explain the process of what was going to happen next. Not one time did we ever feel like we were in your way. Actually, it was the opposite, we felt like you and your crew were very excited to show us your equipment and how it worked and actually wanted us around so we could see how it all worked and so we could see for ourselves how everything was perfect - and it was!
We will always remember you and think of you so highly. Thank you for making the beginning our home building so easy and off to such a perfect start. There are so many things that can go wrong when redoing a home, and having it go off with such a perfect start gives us such great hope. You have certainly set bar very high for the other contractors that will be coming in for the other parts of the home! Your company and its crew should be very proud of its work. You do a job that is very difficult, complex and tedious, but you do it with care, expertise, and perfection. We actually miss you guys and wish you were around. You are like family to us. We only wish we could rate your service and staff A++ , if there were such a rating.
All our best and blessings,
Randy and Elizabeth
