Beginning my career in the tree service industry while growing up in New Zealand in addition to playing rugby at a high level has shaped my business ethic. My small business has been family owned and operated for thirty years, which attests to my dedication and love for the tree service industry. I am a professional, dependable, and dedicated owner and operator, and I am teaching my son these qualities so that he can take over the business one day. I pride myself in treating your property with the highest quality of care, as if it were my own, as our reputation in the community means everything to us. We belong to the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and have relevant insurance and follow all applicable industry standards ANSI (A300) (Z133). Give me a call for a free estimate! We look forward to meeting you and servicing your property.

"I cannot praise Tony and his team enough. He came by the same day I called to take a look at the wooded area behind the house and identified nine trees that needed to come down because they were either dead or diseased (half dead and looking like if they came down they’d hit the house). None were a surprise as they were the reason we called for a quote to take them down to begin with. He sent a quote right away that we felt was extremely reasonable for everything he proposed should be done (included trimming a couple other trees). Once we got HOA approval we got on his schedule pretty quickly. They did an excellent job, setting aside the logs my husband wanted and shredding the rest to create the mulch that he would then put around the new trees. He selected, sourced, transported, and installed all the trees the HOA required to replace the ones that came out. They kept the area clean and the whole backyard now looks amazing. I couldn’t be happier!"

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

Yes, but lightweight furniture may be unstable due to the loose, shifting nature of pea gravel. Heavier furniture with wide legs or a sturdy base works best since it distributes weight more evenly and prevents sinking. To improve stability, you can compact the gravel more in seating areas or place furniture on top of a stabilizing mat or paver stones.

Topsoil provides plants with essential nutrients, water, and air for healthy root growth. It offers a rich ecosystem of microorganisms that improve soil quality and structure. For existing lawns, ¼ inch of topdressing can enhance root growth and support new seed. For gardens, two inches of topsoil can promote strong growth and crops.

Mid to late spring is the best time of year to mulch. If you do it too early in the spring, the mulch could slow down the warming process of the soil and affect how well plants grow. By mid to late spring the temperatures are usually steadying, making it an ideal time to spread mulch.

First, dig a hole that’s the same depth as the root ball and wide enough for the roots to spread out fully. Before placing the tree in the hole, pour water in to help get rid of any air pockets in the soil.

When filling the hole back in, opt for a 1:1 ratio of organic compost with the soil left over from the ground. Do not use potting soil, fertilizer, or chemicals of any kind, as these can stress out and kill your newly planted tree.

Many ways to landscape a steep slope on a budget exist. Avoiding expensive retaining wall construction is the first step. Consider creating a rocky slope with boulders or large stones, or think about planting perennials that return every year with a single investment. Transplanting small trees from elsewhere on your property is also possible and can help to stabilize steep slopes without purchasing new ones.
