"It went well. I was pleased with the services that they provided and the plan that they came up with. I had no trouble submitting it to the city in order to obtain a permit. They were easy to work with, even coming out on Saturday or Sunday, or the evenings - whatever worked with my schedule. They are really friendly, helpful and easy to get along with. It was a great experience and I plan to go to them for some additional work that I am planning on doing."

"This project was completed in a totally professional manner.  The team arrived early, had the proper tools to complete the task, and no time was wasted in getting started.  In fact, crew made several recommendations on how to reduce costs and still made a stronger structure.  The team was pleasant. professional, and kept busy throughout the build.  At the completion of the project, all loose materials, spare parts, sawdust, etc. was cleaned and the area was cleaner when they departed than when they arrived.  Completely professional experience.  I plan to have them complete other projects as the need arises."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Professionals in Leonardtown start by addressing urgent safety risks, such as unstable foundations or compromised beams. They then focus on meeting local building codes and protecting against coastal storms and high winds. Moisture management is a top priority due to the humid climate and soil conditions. Finally, they consider long-term needs like energy efficiency, future expansion, and ongoing foundation stability.

Helpful?

As homes in Leonardtown age, structural needs shift from initial settling and minor moisture adjustments to more significant foundation maintenance and system upgrades. After 20 years, additions or retrofits for energy efficiency become common. For homes over 30 years old, major repairs, accessibility improvements, and climate adaptation—especially for coastal storms—are often needed to keep the structure resilient and up to current standards.

Helpful?

Structural engineering in Leonardtown addresses foundation movement from clay soils, moisture intrusion in basements and crawl spaces, and damage from frequent coastal storms. It also resolves issues with outdated or inadequate foundations, improves flood resilience, and supports layout changes for better accessibility. These projects help ensure your home remains safe, functional, and durable in the face of local climate and soil challenges.

Helpful?

In Leonardtown, homes built before the 1970s often have unique challenges like undersized foundations or balloon framing, which complicate upgrades. If your house has a pier and beam or crawl space foundation, limited access can make repairs tricky. Watch for settlement cracks, uneven floors, or sticking doors—these signs often point to underlying issues with soil movement or moisture management in the region.

Helpful?

When planning structural engineering projects in Leonardtown, pay close attention to the area’s high humidity, salt air, and frequent coastal storms, which can accelerate material wear. The mix of sandy and clay soils affects drainage and foundation stability, so soil testing is wise. Check if your property sits in a flood zone or historic district, and always review local building code amendments for additional requirements.
