"It went well. I was pleased with the services that they provided and the plan that they came up with. I had no trouble submitting it to the city in order to obtain a permit. They were easy to work with, even coming out on Saturday or Sunday, or the evenings - whatever worked with my schedule. They are really friendly, helpful and easy to get along with. It was a great experience and I plan to go to them for some additional work that I am planning on doing."

"This project was completed in a totally professional manner.  The team arrived early, had the proper tools to complete the task, and no time was wasted in getting started.  In fact, crew made several recommendations on how to reduce costs and still made a stronger structure.  The team was pleasant. professional, and kept busy throughout the build.  At the completion of the project, all loose materials, spare parts, sawdust, etc. was cleaned and the area was cleaner when they departed than when they arrived.  Completely professional experience.  I plan to have them complete other projects as the need arises."

"I hired Abarcas Solutions to remodel my fixer upper. Prior to moving in, they painted the interior of my home, made repairs, and made it move in ready. Within the first year, I rehired Abarcas to remodel my bathrooms, my kitchen, ALL of my lighting, you name it, Abarcas made it happen. My home looks like a million bucks. I’ve referred Abarcas to many friends/co-workers. And I look forward to hiring Abarcas for any future contracting. Please reach out if you’d like to see photos."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

A freestanding brick wall that's only one brick thick can usually stand six to eight feet high. If you need a higher wall, it should be at least two bricks thick for adequate stability, and it might require a footing to support the added weight. Additionally, some areas have regulations and codes dictating how high a brick wall can be, so check with local code enforcers to ensure your proposed wall complies with any regulations.

Foundation cracks that are 1/8 inch wide or less, aren’t uneven across the gap, and don’t continue widening over time are usually just normal settling cracks and don’t suggest structural issues. Horizontal cracks and stair-step cracks on foundation walls, any cracks that continue widening, are wider than 1/8 inch, or where one side juts out beyond the other, are often indicative of structural damage.

The 10 10 rule describes the formula most contractors use to determine how much to charge for a job. Allowing for 10% overhead above the total projected cost to do the work and 10% profit sets a contractor up for success, even if there are delays or other problems on the project. This formula isn’t a hard-and-fast rule, but it is a ballpark figure to begin with when estimating your expenses on a job.

Structural engineers are necessary for projects involving alterations to load-bearing structures, foundation work, and compliance with safety standards. This includes home expansions, retaining walls, and significant repairs that impact a property's integrity.

Costs depend on material choices, labor, and the extent of structural modifications.
