"I wanted to move my piano into climate-controlled storage while I was having new flooring installed in my home, so I found Johnson’s Piano Moving based on their excellent online reviews. Ted from Johnson’s worked with me to have my piano moved into their climate-controlled storage for a week during the installation. My house has a side entrance which made the move pretty challenging, but the excellent crews who moved the piano out and back in were very creative in accommodating the challenge with the front door and they took great care not to damage my railings on the stoop. I highly recommend Johnson’s Piano Moving!"

"Red Carpet Moving did an amazing job moving a baby grand piano for me. I bought a piano and needed to move it on very short notice. Milos worked hard to accommodate my schedule, discussed backup plans if the weather was bad on the day of the move, and was very communicative and kind. He and his team were very professional and got my piano to me without a scratch. They even got it all the way up a flight of 18 stairs! 5 stars for these guys, they were great."

"The two movers, Shaw and Devon, were fast, efficient, careful, and thoroughly professional.  The move took a little more than the three hours I initially contracted for, but not because they were slow.  They worked hard and delivered my items in good condition.  If all of their movers are this good, this is a great company to hire for your move.

"Movers were fast and professional. They knew how to setup the piano and even pointed out several things to us. They provided pre-move damage pictures as well. They worked within a very tight time frame and on short notice. Would highly recommend them to anyone needing a piano moved."

"Our move happened this morning, and I had to write a review while our impressions were still fresh! This is the best moving company out there! We moved to Charlotte, North Carolina and couldn't be happier! Many times when people are moving they don't know where to start or what to do. From experience I am telling you, hire professional movers, ideally Zip Moving and Storage because you want your belongings to be packed the right way and transported without damage, and it actually costs less when doing it yourself! It was just an amazing experience for us, especially when true professionals and genuine human beings were apart of making it happen. We also hired them to do all of our packing, because we own a lot of fragile items that are a part of our family heirloom I would never forgive myself if we had something broken trying to do it ourselves. The entire move went smoothly, and we wanted to leave a review because the whole team deserved it!"

"Angie's List provided 3 movers. Blue Skies had the best price of the 3. After finally getting a move date from my son, I contacted Blue Skies. Even with it being a week out, it was no problem for them. They provided a 2-hour window that I was happy with. The crew called to advise when they were 25 minutes away. They arrived well within the 2 hour time-frame they gave me. They were very professional and were done in no time moving what I had. One was a very heavy leather sofa/bed. There were no issues, at all, on delivering the furniture. We were very pleased with their work and would use them again."

"

The team arrived early for our 1500 hrs appointment. They consulted with the person selling the piano to us to optimize the process to exit of the piano from the back of the house to the truck. My family and I arrived shortly after that and signed the final paperwork.

The team got to work and had the piano out of the house and in the truck within 10 minutes. It was moved to our house. Unpacking and moving it into our house and to our front room probably took 5 minutes. The speed and efficiency were amazing. We watched them and the care they took to ensure the safety of the piano was comforting to us. Good job, team!

"G&G Moving was simply outstanding!  They provided the kind of customer service that we expect, but don’t often receive. Every aspect of this process was handled in a timely manner, from the quote (the lowest price compared to three other companies), box delivery, and finally with Vernon and his team’s arrival on move day.  Our move required two trips, and the team handled it with efficiency, while maintaining the integrity of our furniture.  If we ever require moving services in the future, G&G will absolutely be our moving company of choice."

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

Yes, moving a piano often causes it to become out of tune, even if you're not moving the piano very far. One reason is that any temperature and humidity changes can affect a piano's tuning. Additionally, the bumps and jolts from a moving truck usually push a piano out of tune.

However, don't jump right to tuning it once the piano gets to your new home. Instead, it's best to wait at least two weeks for the instrument to acclimate to its new environment. After a couple weeks, you'll get an idea of what the piano will really sound like in its new home, at which point you can call a piano technician to get it properly tuned.

It can be tempting to want to help your movers as they pack or transport your belongings, but in general, most movers prefer their customers to stay out of the way. Rest assured that your movers are confident in their skills and the process will likely go faster without your help. If you see something concerning, let your movers know right away so they can adjust or remedy the issue.

No, homeowners insurance does not typically cover moving expenses. Homeowners insurance provides coverage and pay-outs if you experience damage to the home you currently live in. You’ll need to save separately for moving expenses like hiring movers, renting a tow truck, or shipping your belongings.

In most cases, you don’t need to order food for movers. They will schedule breaks to eat throughout the day. However, you can provide drinks and snacks in an easy-to-access location for the movers to grab throughout the day.

Yes, you can very carefully lay down a grandfather clock to move it, but it requires a bit of prep work. Remember, all of your clock's components and mechanisms are delicate, and shifting them can cause serious damage. Before laying it down, you will need to remove these pieces, plus the weights and the pendulum.
