"I was extremely pleased with the work done by Mr. Davis, who was responsible for reinstalling a dishwasher that a local plumbing company had incorrectly installed. He quickly identified the problem and, like a seasoned professional, resolved it to my complete satisfaction for a reasonable fee."

"I hired this company as the previous company scheduled to install my garbage disposal were a no-show. I called this company at 4:30pm. James arrived an hour later. By 6pm, he completed the job. A plumber is pricey but the quality of the work is top notch. I'd be elated to hire this company again."

"Two gentlemen showed up- ON TIME and both had masks on and were very polite. Per my request, they texted when they were close so I could get my large dog settled. They took out the old garbage disposal and installed new one. The space under my sink is very tight, so it was not an easy job! They completed the job- did not leave any trash behind. Very clean and very respectful."

"Once we got past a miscommunication is scheduling and a timing conflict issue all the work was done professionaly and expertly. We are very pleased with the arrangement of all the equipment and how it was placed actually looks better and neater than it did prior to having the new systems installed alongside the existing water softener. Everything works great and the water is so nice now that it is a pleasure using it. The difference was immediate. Installer was very thoughtful for placement of all equipment so that it wouldn't take up unnessary usable space. We are very pleased with all the work done and hope to have the systems serviced by this company for many years to come."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

Replacing a garbage disposal costs anywhere from $150 to $950, but the average cost is somewhere around $550. There are two types of garbage disposal units, and continuous feed disposals tend to cost more than batch feed disposals. Going for an aluminum garbage disposal is also significantly cheaper than choosing a stainless steel garbage disposal. You'll also need to factor in the horsepower of the motor, labor, and the removal and disposal of your old unit.

The main issue with garbage disposals is clogging. This can mean a clogging of the pipes that expel the food along with water, or a clogging of the mechanical parts themselves. The problem lies in the solution because you can’t easily see clogs if they’re inside the system, and reaching in to dislodge stuck items is a risky proposal. Call a pro and ask what they would do, but if you can’t see the clog easily, and running the unit won’t free it, you need to let a professional handle the fix.

To prevent drain clogs, perform regular maintenance and cleaning. Avoid disposing of substances like grease or coffee grounds down the sink. Additionally, installing and routinely using drain strainers can help catch debris and prevent blockages from forming.

Never put glass in the garbage disposal. It can damage your disposal or eject shards of glass out of the disposal and cause injury. If you get broken glass in your garbage disposal, turn it off and cut the power from the breaker, use a tool like pliers or tongs to remove the glass, and use a wet-dry vacuum to remove the remaining glass pieces. If you can’t access the disposal safely, call a garbage disposal repair pro.

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Disconnect the main drain line and P-trap, and then disconnect the dishwasher drain line if you have one connected. You can then unscrew your garbage disposal using a disposal wrench. Just make sure you disconnect the electrical lines before removing your appliance.
