"VKB far exceeded out expectations for our new kitchen design and installation; as well as, the resurfacing and stain/varnish to my existing floors and stairs. My wife and I are very pleased with the final outcome. Money was well spent. Base on our experience, I would not hesitate to recommend their services again. Jack and Suzanne McClinton."

"We had work done previously and Gary's team saw where there were gaps allowing water to get into the home.  If they hadn't identified the problems, we could have been looking at significant damage, I called on the morning of the job, asked for extra trim to be painted.  They went to home depot to pick up the paint (no cost besides receipt for paint).  They not only did what was in the contract, but while up on the roof, painted extra trim around a hard to reach window.   Keeping a home in repair may cost $, but I truly feel that we have found a company that will give us an honest estimate of what needs to be done and a very fair price.  Thank you not only to Gary Sr, but also t o Angie's list for helping us find such a great company.

'We are extremely happy with the remodeling job Dave and his crew did for us. We interviewed 3 companies and felt Dave was the most professional. He gave us a very detailed contract of work to be done broken down by room and detailed cost for each room. He and his men were always here on time. If something came up, they called and that was seldom. His crew and subcontractors were pleasant to work with, came up with ideas that improved the project, they worked steadily the whole time they were here, and cleaned up before they left each day.

This was a big project. It took 4 months. They gutted our kitchen and family room. They installed Kraftmaid cabinetry complete with crown molding, granite counters, tile floors, new lighting, a ceiling fan, a 9 foot island and, my favorite, a walk-in pantry. It is beautiful and very functional! We have had multiple sets of family and friends to visit. They can't believe the wonderful change in the space.

Dave also gutted our master bath, knocked out one wall and add another. His crew built us a beautiful shower with multiple shower heads and a bench. They put in a toilet room, gave us 2 sinks instead of one and lots of storage. We love the heated floors they installed.

Jamie, who works with Dave, went with me to the tile store multiple times to choose tile for the baths and kitchen. He helped me figure out what decorative touches I wanted in the bath, gave ideas about how the tile floor could be laid, and ideas for the kitchen backsplash. It was really helpful when there are so many decisions to make in a short time.

They also gutted our hall bath putting in all new fixtures and tile floor and tile walls in the tub and shower area. Our boys were amazed at their new space. The powder room downstairs was updated as well with a new toilet and pedestal sink.

We had a small deck off our master bedroom that was unsafe. They replace it. It will be great to use come spring. They replace all of our inside doors with solid core doors and replace the trim with a nicer one.

They got rid of the carpet on our staircase and put down oak treads to match our hardwood floors. No one would know they weren't originally there. They did a great job matching the stain.

They replace our tile floor that runs through the downstairs from the front door, into the family room, the kitchen, the sunroom, laundry room, to the back door with a larger tile. There was a small glitch with the tile but Dave was the first to notice it and brought it to our attention. He took care of it to our satisfaction.

There were no surprises. Any change I wanted to make Dave let me know ahead of time the cost and prepared a change order so I knew what to expect. Dave was easy to work with. He is a perfectionist and expect his people to live up to his standards and they do.

Whenever I wasn't happy with how something looked or changed my mind about how I wanted something done, Dave and his people were right on it and worked until I was satisfied. You can't ask for more. This team worked everyday with the exception of 2  or 3 days for 4 months. We love our new home!

We are very glad we picked Dave Rutch's Precision Remodeling Inc.. We have recommended them to our friends who are considering remodeling and will use them again when we are ready to do more work on our house..

"We were doing a complete gut/remodel job on our kitchen and adding a bathroom where there was a covered back porch. My husband and I were interested in doing portions of the work ourselves, and the John Ruth company was more than willing to coordinate with us on this. We did the demo down to the studs, and they came in and took out the load bearing walls, adding support beams (with a structural engineers plan) and then proceeded to frame in the back porch. At every step of the way, when Will and Mike anticipated a problem that we would encounter when working on our part of it, they explained it to us, and were more than helpful and accommodating. In terms of plumbing, every old pipe in the house was replaced, they roughed in the bathroom according to our plans, and installed the shower pan. They also serviced our old heater and made some tweaks to the system, very knowledgeable about older homes and hot water/steam heat systems. We can't say enough good things about this company - everyone LOVES our kitchen and we loved having the guys here working. Totally trusted them to come and go with house open. They were clean and respectful, and always cleaned up at end of day. Seriously, you want this company to do work for you!"

"The job required some additional plumbing work which was included at no additional cost.  The tile work is beautiful, and includes some unique detail that I would never have considered.  He installed new shower doors to replace the old shower curtain which added to the overall appearance of the room.  The materials used were first rate and construction techniques high quality.  Overall, we were very pleased with the finished product and believe we received high value for the price.  Walter is easy to deal with, dependable and reliable.  He made every effort to ensure we were happy with the finished product.  I plan to call him again for my next home renovation project.

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

There are a few ways to check whether your tub is fiberglass or acrylic. If your tub is a color other than white, then your tub is likely acrylic (as fiberglass tubs are usually white). Check to see if there is discoloration on the bottom of the tub, because if it’s yellowed, then you can be fairly sure it’s fiberglass.

Also, fiberglass tubs have thinner edges and are cool to the touch. Acrylic, on the other hand, is either room temperature or warm to the touch.

The process involves cleaning the surface, applying bonding agents or new veneers, and finishing with a protective top coat or polish.

Refinishing a bathtub is worth it if your tub has minor damage or is a color that you don't like. The cost of replacing a bathtub is more expensive than simply refinishing one, averaging around $5,300. It's more cost-effective to refinish your tub if you can, but it also gives you the look of a new bathtub without having to replace the whole thing.

When buying caulk, look for ones labeled for tub and tile. These have either acrylic latex or silicone compounds. This allows the caulk to stick to smooth surfaces and prevent mildew from forming.

If your Corian® countertop begins to appear dull or dirty, or you notice scratches on the surface, you can return it to its original finish while maintaining its look. To do this, repair any scratches with a repair compound and sand the surface after it dries.

Then, use an orbital sander with either a 100-, 30-, or 15-micron disc and finish with a hand pad (like Scotch-Brite™ 7447 or 7448) or lamb’s wool bonnet and automotive cutting compound for a matte, semi-gloss, or gloss-finish, respectively.
