"I contacted Colonial on 10/10/13 and the next morning Steve called and came right away in the heavy downpours.  Steve provided Superior service and identified our needs immediately to secure our front door especially with having two small kids.
Steve is great example of professional and courtesy service and represents Colonial Locksmith very well.  Colonial Locksmith should be very proud having someone like Steve represent their company in the community.
I would highly recommend anyone in the area that needs a locksmith that will do the job fast and right the first time with a backed guarantee, you can't go wrong.
Many thanks

"We were impressed by Mr. Bunting's professionalism and knowledge as he explained to us how water had been leaking around the door and caused rotting of the wood of the floor. He extensively inspected the interior and exterior of our home.  He patiently answered all of our questions and provided many options for different products and techniques for the repairs.  He provided a detailed written estimate showing the cost for each area of repair.  Mr. Bunting was very courteous and polite, and we look forward to having him complete the work in the near future."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Keyless locks are often considered safer since they’re protected by passcodes instead of a physical key, making it harder to be picked. However, they are not infallible. And like all electronic devices, outdated models are more prone to problems and safety concerns. If you’ve experienced multiple lockouts in the past year, or your lock is responding slower than usual after you key in the passcode, it might be time to upgrade to a newer one. Even if your lock is working fine, you should still change your access code at least twice a year.

First thing first: Make sure you’re using the right key. If it’s the correct key for your lock, there are a few reasons why it may not be working, like the key is worn out or the lock is jammed. Try lubricating the lock and pushing the door closed to ensure the mechanisms work correctly. If you’re still locked out, call in for help.

Most jobs take 30 minutes to 2 hours, but high-security systems or multiple lock installations may require additional time.

A keypad deadbolt, a lock requiring a code entered on a keypad entry, can be a convenient option for families with children coming in and out and needing access to the home. It can also offer an easy solution if you rent your home out, since you can easily change the code as needed. So, depending on your home entry’s needs, a keypad deadbolt may be worth the extra expense.

Aside from the labor costs, several other factors can impact the cost of hiring a locksmith. If you can avoid services during off-hours, you can save on fees often charged for urgent requests. Consider additional factors such as:

  • Type of services required

  • Emergency call fees

  • Home and lock location

  • Number of locks to repair or install

  • Peak hours

  • Type of locks
