My 1952 house was not equipped with a vent, nor proper traps for either the washing machine or sink. There were sewer gases backing up on occasion, into the sink area, which is of course unpleasant.

Robert installed the traps, then came back to add the vent to the outside of the house. He did not have to go through the attic and roof. The end result looks like it was built with the house, and blends in well with the exterior.

"Bill Martins Flood Crew is excellent. In December, just before Christmas, my finished rec room flooded when my sump pump failed--soaked carpet, cardboard boxes, books, furniture with sewer water. I thought I would not find anybody this time of year to help me. But I called Bill Martins from Flood Crew, and he came out right away. He looked at the basement and gave me an analysis of my damage on the spot. He was wonderful. He took care of getting detailed estimates to my insurance company and then made arrangements for me with all the needed specialists. First, I wouldn't have known where to start, and second I wouldn't have had a clue whom to call. I needed crews to remove the carpet, cut out drywall all around to dry it out, check for mold, test for asbestos, and then remove everything. And, of course, fixing the sump pump, installing flooring, putting everything back, and lots of details in between. All of this obviously can't be completed in a week or even a month. My work was not the only project that busy contractors had. My situation was far more complicated than I thought it would be. Ultimately, it took four months, which I thought was very reasonable. "There was something that was in the drain so that when water was going in one direction it would be fine but if there there was something down the disposal it would flip it and the it would have a clog and they cleared that. They were straight forward, they got the job done proficiently and professionally."

"I asked them to pull up carpets. They don't move furniture - but they didn't tell me that ahead of time. He did do an hour's work when he came initially - he hung a curtain - and left. The owner was supposed to call me back and didn't. I called Angie's List, who contacted the company. The company called and said that they found a handyman who would move the furniture. I had to wait 2 weeks and they finally came out. The handyman pulled up the carpet and piled it up in the living room. When I asked him about the disposal of the carpet (which I had specified when I bought the deal) he said that he didn't do carpet disposal. I asked him how much he would charge to dispose of the carpet, he then said "$100." So, I had to pay an additional $100 for disposal. Then I asked him to pull up the nail strips and he wanted to charge me another $100 for an hour of work -- even though it'd only take him 20 minutes at the most. Both men were nice and worked the entire time they were at my house, but it was just a disappointing situation overall and I didn't like being charged an extra $100 for the removal -- even though I had specified that in the deal ahead of time."
