"Maureen and her staff were courteous, punctual, professional and thorough. One example of their thoroughness: cleaned grimmy kitchen cabinets to the point where they looked like they had been refinished! Great job!"

"I placed the order on 7-9-15 and they came early on 7-13-15 to pick up the items for disposal.  Carlene was courteous, professional and prompt setting up the date/time they would be at my house -- and they arrived about a half hour early.  I had an old dresser/chest in my basement which I couldn't get out by myself and they demolished and removed it.  They took some old damaged carpet and other items from my backyard.  When the truck space was filled, I was offered the rest of the truck space for a great deal or they would load it in my car for me to haul to the dump.  A really good experience and a really great price!

"Very professional and great attention to detail.  I was not home when the carpets were cleaned but my husband was and he told me the guy was thorough and hard working.  The carpets looked great.  I will use them again."

Closets questions, answered by experts

Clean regularly, avoid overloading shelves, and check hardware for wear to ensure longevity.

A "reach-in pantry" is a smaller, cabinet-style pantry that allows you to grab items by simply reaching inside. On the other hand, a "walk-in pantry" is like a closet or small room that offers a larger space that you can physically enter to get your food. Walk-in pantries allow for more customizable shelving. A reach-in pantry is usually around 5 feet wide by 2 feet deep, while a walk-in pantry is closer to 5 feet by 5 feet or larger.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Custom furniture can provide more efficient storage and maximize resources.

On average, building a custom or built-in closet costs around $2,100. However, the total price can range from as little as $500 for a simple DIY project to $6,000 or more for a large, high-end custom closet. Most projects typically fall between $1,500 and $5,000.

The final cost depends on several factors, including the closet's size, type, materials, and features. Here is a general cost breakdown by closet type:

  • Reach-in closet: $500 to $1,500

  • Walk-in closet: $750 to $5,000

  • Wardrobe: $2,000 to $6,000 or more

Choosing a prefabricated closet system is generally less expensive than a fully custom build. The scope of design and construction services will also significantly impact the price.
