"I wanted flower bed on side of house removed, weed barrier put down and covered with stone. Beds in front of house to be cleaned out and bushes removed. Weed barrier put down and covered with mulch so I can put large pots on top. I wanted flowers without weeding. Donta understood what I wanted. He and his team did a wonderful job!!!! He came and priced it one day and started the next day. Two days of HARD work and job completed. They removed a 14 foot truck full of weeds, bushes, roots and unwanted plants. The work was done so quickly and neatly. Donta and his team were so nice and friendly. I will definitely recommend to all my friends."

"Instead of just lighting the driveway he designed the lighting plan, picking particular trees to light to illuminate an aesthetic path up to the house.  The result is wonderful!  The lights on the walkway to the and deck are carefully positioned and the entire effect is wonderful.  I plan to have him back to do lights in the backyard as well.

"Things went exceptionally well when Chad of King’s Electric came to install lights in my home. I appreciated the time he took to discuss different options, to explain what he was doing in understandable words, and the quality of his work. I would definitely choose him for all of my electrical needs!"

"We had some issues with arrival time and communication that were frustrating. He had someone call out which I understand can throw the day off but we were juggling work hours to be there and killed several hours waiting for arrival and communication (both the initial time and then the new updated time).
Once they got there they were professional and installed two lights very quickly and with good quality.  They went above and beyond to hang one light at the right height given the out of the box parts didn't support the proper height.
We had prepaid for 2 hours and they finished both jobs in 20 minutes (so 40 people minutes!).  I was kicking myself I hadn't had more things planned for them to do but never expected they would be so fast.

"The paint job was excellent all around. Angelo provided a quote on the spot that was the most competitive.  Angelo was the only bidder that would also replace some rotted trim on my chimney at a reasonable cost (one bidder wouldn't do it, the other wanted over $1000 more).  Angelo's crew were extremely professional and punctual.  The attention to detail was first rate.  The light carpentry was satisfactory.  An I recommend Pintail for whole house painting without reservation.

"The electrical outlets on one side of the room were not working.  James had done all the wiring in our building, so I called him to help me troubleshoot.  He gave me advice which did work well and the outlets were back working properly right away.  It was just an issue with the circuit breaker."

"Excellent from the beginning through the entire job. Owner spent several hours discussing colors and offered recommendations. Kimberly has a knack for being able to help narrow the selection process with her suggestions. She spent time above and beyond any other contractor I have used and the colors turned out beautiful beyond my expectations. I would highly recommend her for any painting job and I give her an A+ for professionalism."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Cold weather can cause older incandescent Christmas lights to fail by causing cracks in the finish or the glass itself. Modern LED lights are affected in the opposite way and perform even better as the temperature drops.

The majority of potential burglars are amateurs looking to make a quick buck after breaking and entering. By installing motion-sensor lights, alarm systems, and security cameras, throughout the home, there’s a good chance you will deter crime on your property.

Between seasons, inspect cords for damage, replace burnt-out bulbs, and clean lighting fixtures to prevent dirt buildup. Proper storage in cool, dry conditions will extend the lights' lifespan and minimize repairs or replacements when redeployed.

Yes, outdoor lights and receptacles should be on a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for safety. The outdoors is considered a wet location where GFCI protection is generally required. A GFCI enhances safety by automatically tripping and shutting off the circuit if it detects an imbalance, which protects against electrocution and reduces the risk of an electrical fire. While it is the safest approach for all outdoor electrical components, specific requirements can vary depending on the type of light (e.g., pool lights), its location, and local electrical codes. For guidance tailored to your specific situation, it's best to consult a professional electrician.

The five common types of landscape lighting are up-lighting, down-lighting, spotlights, built-in lighting, and pathway lighting.

  • Up-lighting casts light upwards from the ground, mostly for aesthetic purposes.

  • Down-lighting directs light onto the ground, lighting pathways, or outdoor space.

  • Spotlights cast direct, focused lighting in any direction.

  • Built-in lighting integrates lighting into an outdoor feature.

  • Pathway lighting illuminates walkways, increasing safety.
