"Pyramid was recommended to us by a friend who has done a lot of remodeling and has priced granite in many locations in the area. She was right--after shopping around for a granite or quartz countertop for our guest bathroom remodel, Pyramid Granite had the best selection AND best price. We were looking for something that would coordinate with existing tile in the bathroom and it was easy to find several choices at Pyramid. They were very professional, helped us make a decision, came out to measure and delivered the product ON TIME. We ultimately settled on granite and our countertop is gorgeous--we will definitely be coming back when we remodel our primary bathroom! Ask for Temon--he is great!"

"We had a great experience with Granite Works. We contracted our countertop work on July 28th. We feel very fortunate to have met Art. He is very professional and not a high pressure sales person.  He was more of a designer and he took us out to the slab yard helping us find slabs that matched our kitchen design and equally important budget.. We were able to use their sample cabinet materials and coordinate them with the slabs, colors, movement and patterns.  He advised us on the best cuts, edgings, care, etc. Once we selected the granite within a few minutes, Art presented us with an estimate on the spot.  We placed a 50% deposit and the next day the office assistance called us to schedule our on site template. The template process was easy and thorough. It is very helpful if you take your kitchen photos with you and your detailed measurements.  That way your estimate is accurate and Art can help you with balancing movement, appropriate area for seams, if any.  Granite works provided the granite, onsite measurements, sink options, bull nose edging and included all cut outs, plus an Angie's List discount. Our price was $2500 less than a company in  the Mt. Airy. Within a week we had a template completed, in two weeks the fabrication of 2 slabs, and the installation of occurred on  August 9th. In 1 day! We elected to forego their 4" backsplash option and we designed and installed our own. Art's design consultation was very helpful.  After we finished 1/2 the backsplash we sent Art a thank you email with a photo.  He was so surprised and we were surprised and happy 1) he remembered us, and 2) he liked our natural stone tile work.  We recommend Granite Works for quality, professionalism and price.  Good luck and thanks Angie's List. Art and Granite Works Rocks!!"

"I was combining bright white cabinets on the perimeter of my kitchen with a walnut peninsula.  That required either getting a single granite that would work with both or two granites that would work with the different woods and each other.  I had searched on my own a couple of times and was leaning toward a particular granite.   Nick was able to talk me out of a bad decision.  He then very patiently evaluated dozens of granites with me, pointing out potential problems with some, narrowing down to others.  His expertise with stone helped me to choose beautiful slabs that work perfectly in my kitchen.  I then purchased the slabs and they were delivered to his shop.
His process (customer buys slab, Nick's crew fabricates the countertop) yields left-over stone in his shop.  From this, he chose a perfect stone for my laundry room.  He measured, then his crew installed a week later.
For the kitchen, he was able to install less than a week after measuring.  That is amazingly fast turnaround for granite fabrication.  The granites were fabricated perfectly and look gorgeous.  Very professional crew.
Overall, it was a terrific experience.  Stonework is as much art as craft.  Nick has great taste and is willing to share that with his customers to help them make great choices.

"We were thinking to remodel our old house  hallway bathroom as it started leaking from a broken tile. As we were searching who we should hire, we came across the name of Atlantis Tile Kitchen and Bath. After making some research about Atlantis we decided to call and ask for an estimate.  Someone at Atlantis answered our call very politely and gave us a date to stop by. Finally, the day came and the estimator arrived right on time. After introducing himself we found out that the estimator was the owner of Atlantis.
Mr. Gulsen was a real gentlemen. He has answered all our questions and took all the measurements and pictures carefully as he needed. Within  couple of days he returned us with an estimate and rough design. Mean time, we have had two more estimates from other companies. comparing apple to apple we decided to go with Atlantis.
My wife and I Visited Atlantis's very  beautiful show room in sterling to finalize the design and to select the materials we would use for our bathroom. Everyone who helped us were very kind and extremely helpful. All the process went the way we would be happy. We put our deposit with an extreme confident.
The day finally came to start the work. The owner Mr. Gulsen was in charge of everything from beginning to make sure all is right. We were so impressed with all the effort they have made to make sure all is in professionalism way. They removed all of theold  tiles bathtub vanity etc. make it short, it was very very impressive from A to Z. Since they took my trust, I made another agreement with Mr. Gulsen if they could replace our old kitchen's laminate countertop to a granite countertop. Result, they have done a real fantastic job on both of our projects with a very affordable PRICE.
We were so happy that we went with Atlantis. We would highly recommend everyone  these guys. Now we are thinking if we should remodel our Old Masterbath too. For sure we would go with them again..
Thank you  Atlantis. God Bless you all.
Respectfully
David Yu Lee

"I've had the pleasure of working with Architecture Stones on several home renovation projects, and was very impressed by the professional, reliable, and reasonably priced services. I came across the company online and was hesitant at first. I've done my comparison shopping for granite at Home Depot and other granite outlets, but AS surprised me and came out on top. Marina
is not your typical salesperson she is a TOP NOTCH designer - she really cares about her customers and offers them the best value and design for their money. There was no pressure or deception: Marina was very straight-forward about cost, and what would look best in my place. My granite counter-tops look fantastic and I did not have to drop a small fortune! No sacrifice in quality
or cost is a win all-around.

"This company was great.  They did what they said and did it well.  They were respectful and protected our wood floors and cleaned up after they were through.  It was a VERY cold day and tough to do the finishing cuts outside in 10 degree weather.
Our granite is beautiful.  One of the owners worked with us.  He helped make corrections to some areas where the original granite wasn't done aesthetically well.  He made suggestions of changing the shape to our island bar that has been very beneficial to us and allows more dining and serving area.  He even helped me recycle some of the old kitchen granite they removed and put it in my laundry room (replacing an old Formica counter top).    Would definitely use them again!"

Granite Restoration questions, answered by experts

The frequency for sealing granite countertops depends on several factors, including the type of sealant used, the color of the granite, and how heavily the countertops are used. As a general guideline, resealing is often recommended every 12 to 18 months, but some sources suggest it could be as often as every few months or at least once a year.

The type of sealant is a major factor: water-based sealants may need reapplication every six months to a year, while more durable solvent-based sealants can last for five to 10 years. Additionally, factors like heavy kitchen traffic, frequent use of acidic cleaners, and lighter granite colors may require more frequent sealing to prevent staining.

To determine if your countertops need resealing, you can perform a simple water test. Place a few drops of water or a wet paper towel on an inconspicuous area of the granite. After 10 to 15 minutes, check the spot. If the water has beaded up, the seal is still intact. If the water has been absorbed and darkened the stone, it's time to apply a new coat of sealant. You can choose to seal the granite yourself or hire a professional to ensure it's done correctly.

Acid can seriously damage granite countertops and lead to etching and erosion. This is why cleaning with vinegar isn’t recommended. Other acidic items that you should keep away from your granite countertops include:

  • Citrus

  • Acetone nail polish remover

  • Tomatoes

  • Ammonia

In addition, always steer clear of using bleach on or around your granite as it will degrade the countertop’s sealant quickly.

In many cases, it’s worth it to restore stone. Stone restoration generally costs less than replacing the stone entirely, helping to save on the cost of your project while still giving your home’s stone a polished appearance. However, if your stone is very cracked or crumbling to the point of compromising the structural integrity of your home, you may want to consider replacing it. Stone flooring costs range from $6 to $20 per square foot on average.

Stone restoration and polishing enhance the beauty and longevity of stone surfaces by repairing damage and restoring their original shine and functionality.

In most cases, chipped or cracked granite can be salvaged, but it depends on the size and scope of the damage. For example, a pro can smooth out small chips on the edge with polish pads or an angle grinder, but a crack that runs through the stone's surface has little-to-no chance of being fixed easily.
