They arrived and performed all the work that was contracted. They were professional, friendly and hard working. They demolished the bathroom downstairs and got to work! They installed a french drain for the perimeter of the basement, including 2 new sump pumps and adequate discharge away from the house. I waited for the first rain storm - lo and behold there was water on the floor. I called them and they came out immediately and tested the system, and all was fine. It turns out that water had leaked through an unsecured window. I am now coming up on 2 years after the work was completed and everything is wonderful. We have had several intense rainstorms (including hurricane-level rain) and my basement is dry. I couldn't be more pleased. After years of dreading the rain because of the mess it would cause, I say bring it on! My basement remains dry. I would give this company the highest rating for their professionalism of all staff encountered and quality of work performed. I was so apprehensive about this project - unsure and didn't know whom to trust. These guys came through in all respects. Highly recommend! The industry is still maturing as the technology is changing rapidly and the federal and state incentives have not stabilized. It still takes about 7 or 8 years to recoup ones investment if you purchase the system outright. However, there is much satisfaction in being able to generate most of your electricity and seeing a large decrease in your electricity bills. Before getting into the details of the installation, there are severals issues that one must be aware of when installing a PV system. The first is what type of PV technology am I getting. There are many solar panel manufacturers and the panels have different characteristics. Some are more efficient (>20%), while others perform better in low light environments. The second is the number and location of the panels. Am I trying to generate as much power as possible irrespective of the location of the panels without concerned for aesthetics, or do I want the panels to be as unobtrusive as possible, i.e., I don't want them to be seen from the street? Also, since the shapes of the panels are slightly different between manufacturers, the number and arrangement of panels may depend on the type of panel used. The third is who will be managing my Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs). Will it be the installer, a broker or me? The fourth and final issue is where will the technology and hence industry be in two, five or ten years time. The perovskite thin film technology is improving very quickly. Researchers in the field have recently announced efficiencies of 20% in the lab and some have forecast that this technology has the potential to reach 40% efficiency, which would easily cover all of my electricity usage. In addition perovskite solar panels are likely to be cheaper than the current silicon technology (possibly half the cost). So should I wait a few years to see what develops? After weighing the above issues, I decided to have a PV system installed now. I used Angie's List to select three installers and contacted each one for a home visit and quote. Each company sent someone to my house to discuss the PV system and to get my requirements, and afterward, I was sent a quote. The three quotes were within 10% of each other. I then spent a few weeks comparing each quote and decided on MSSI was based on issues one and three above. I decided to go with a panel that performed better under low light conditions over one that is more efficient. I also decided that I wanted to personally manage my SRECs, instead of having a broker manage them. Once I made my decision, I contacted MSSI and had Collette, the owner, draw up a contract. This was in late June (2014). She then scheduled to have the installation done a month later in late July. However, MSSI moved up the installation by one week starting on July 15. (I should note that the other two companies would not be able to do the installation until late September at the earliest. This means that I would not be able to take advantage of the peak generation period, i.e., the spring and summer months.) However, the new installation date meant that I would be out-of-town and my wife would have to handle any issues that arise. There were none. As a result, I arrive home to a well installed system. All that i needed to do was to wait to hear from BG&E that it was OK to connect my system to the mains, which occurred on July 31. After the installation, MSSI submitted the forms for the Maryland Residential Clean Energy Grant program ($1000) and set up my SREC account, which I have been managing myself. There have been no major issues since the installation. I have been in contact with MSSI several times since then and the MSSI staff have been prompt and courteous. I would like to point out one minor issue associated with a PV system, the inverter. The component that converts DC to AC power for the mains. The AC signal generated by the inverter can cause some old digital clocks to run fast. In my case it is the digital clock on the 25 year old wall-mounted microwave oven. This clock uses the 60 Hz AC signal from the mains to keep time. However, the inverter makes it appear that the mains frequency is higher, so the clock runs faster sometimes by 30 minutes per day. Just something to be aware of if you have old appliances. Initially we got estimates from him on a little bit of framing, electrical, and drywall, but I just did the first two myself and let him do the drywall. It was mostly hanging new drywall on walls, ceiling, a large bulkhead, and a new closet that I built, but there were also a few little repair spots as well as a result of hurricane Sandy damage.
He and another guy came out on schedule, worked fast and had a couple of very long days. They finished up about a day earlier than planned. Everything looked great, smooth walls, sharp corners.

The first project was smaller in scope and consisted of replacing our front door, rear patio slider, repairing some interior drywall work, and adding crown molding. This more recent project was much larger in terms of work and cost. For this project, we built an addition over our garage consisting of a master bedroom, master bath with custom shower and clawfoot tub, and custom walk-in closet. Precision Remodeling also replaced all of our home?s windows (15), siding, and the posts and rails for our front porch. While we were familiar and quite happy with Precision?s work, we did the due diligence of getting two other bids. Precision?s bid was the most accurate and fair (one was under bidding to get the job and the other required significant money for the design alone). We went with Precision and were exceptionally pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism of the crew and subcontractors. We have listed some of the Benefits and some of the Opportunity areas of working with Precision Remodeling below:
BENEFITS: 1. We are delighted with the end result?including the sturdy structure, incredible vaulted ceiling, the gorgeous tile and granite in the bath, the plumbing fixtures (clawfoot tub), plush carpet, and the custom shelves built for the walk-in closet. 2. Precision Remodeling has very high standards with regard to its employees in terms of knowledge and professionalism. For instance, the entire crew wears uniforms, removes their shoes (when possible) or covers them with booties upon entering the home, and cleans up their workspace at the end of each day. They take great pride in their professionalism and it shows. 3.David and his crew excel at communicating and responding to customers in a prompt manner. I know this may sound minor, but when you are spending a lot of money on a home remodel it makes a huge difference whether or not you can reach your contractor when you need him. 4. Precision has very close ties with its subcontractors and they provide amazing service and are incredibly responsive. 5.The exterior crews (led by Jeremy) are consummate professionals when it comes to meeting and exceeding building codes while making the outside of your home beautiful. They have many, many years of building experience and you can see it in their work. For example, they were not satisfied with the framing of our addition until everything was perfectly level and braced to meet standards that exceed those required by the state of Maryland. I have hurricane clips, which are not required in Maryland, on my addition because that is their standard. 6. The interior crews (led by Pat) truly excel at the fine touches that make any job (regardless of size or money spent on materials) look custom. For example, my wife loved the tiling work that was done in the bathroom but the color of just one particular tile bothered her. Without a moment?s hesitation, and despite the fact that it created re-work for them (especially so due to the installation of a heating mat), Pat and his crew removed the offending tile and replaced it with another.
OPPORTUNITY AREAS: 1.The start date and completion date for the project got pushed several weeks due to the sheer volume of business Precision is experiencing right now. They are a high-quality contractor and much in demand. This delay caused some changes to the schedule and a good amount of juggling for the family. 2.There were some design elements that probably should have been discussed before work began that required some fairly intensive on-the-spot trouble-shooting and redesign (bathroom layout, required egress, and the centering of the vaulted ceiling). 3. Some of the cost overruns could have been forecast into the original quote (e.g., additional carpeting for a closet that was moved, fire-rated drywall, etc.) or an alternate material chosen if the cost differential was caught in time (e.g., the tile chosen for the bathroom was not in budget but ordered). Having said that, decisions made by the homeowners (e.g., keeping the more expensive tile, vaulting the bedroom ceiling) affected the cost. Overall, the project went 12% over budget. Of that, 9% was homeowner-driven.
Overall, I highly recommend David Rutch?s Precision Remodeling and will definitely use their services in the future. The challenges and opportunity areas we encountered during this major remodel WOULD be found with any general contractor. The strengths that set Precision Remodeling apart, though, are the quality, customer service, and professionalism they bring to your project. These are qualities you find with Precision Remodeling that you WOULD NOT find with just any contractor.

This included a custom Mickey Mouse bedroom! Soon after came the 100 square foot shed built onsite! I was impressed, so I also had them build a deck out back. In 2008 I had both bathrooms remodeled for way less than I could have imagined. That same year we had bad storms that caused a tree branch to fall on the corner of the house, which they repaired ASAP, they were here the next day. In 2010, they installed all new windows and front and back doors--they brought an entire crew and had it done in one day. Then Hurricane Sandy caused an even bigger tree branch to fall on the house, again they treated it as an emergency and sent Joe the very next morning--early to beat the expected rain. Our house would have flooded that night in the storms had he not patched it that day. My most recent job with Zowd Homes was March of 2013 to power-wash the entire house and both front and back decks which was completed in 2 days. All in all, I am very satisfied with their work and recommend them to all family and friends. They have competitive pricing, and always complete exactly what I envisioned. I visited MDS's website http://www.marylanddeckandshed.com/ and was impressed with the under deck sheds and the under-decking water proofing system. I contact MDS via Angie's list and the company owner, Jim Sarazin, contacted me to schedule an estimate. Jim sent, Steve, an MDS representative, to provide an estimate. Steve was very knowledgeable and was willing to work with me to cut down costs. I also wanted Steve to include in the estimate the construction of a wooden box around the utilities section given that after hurricane Sandy and previous several caulking attempts water was coming in from that section. I was happy with the cost so proceeded to sign a project contract. During the construction, the crew was extremely professional and hard working. Sararzin, who I spoke with on several occasions came by when the work was completed to close the contract. He explained and made sure everything was done to my satisfaction. MDS could not garantee the underdecking system and the wood box to be waterproof. Only one gripe, the crew could have done a better job cleaning up after the work was complete. Nevertheless, I highly recommend MDS. She had planned to repaint but the spackling required was extensive so we decided to find someone to do it for us. Mr. Howard was one of several painters we contacted. His bid was competitive but we were swayed by the fact that he held out more hope for the deck than the others who thought it needed extensive repair if not replacing.
Just after we accepted his bid we were hit by hurricane Irene and had to tell him that we needed to first have our roof repaired (actually replaced) before he would be able to start, this also caused additional water damage in our ceiling. Due to continued bad weather, we were not able to schedule him to come until about a month after the roof replacement.
His crew were prompt and courteous and after every step made sure we were happy with their work and indicated that if we later had any problems they would be happy to address them. The work took a day or two longer than originally expected, but that was due to bad weather.
Everything looks great. The power-washing of the house was mainly to get rid of some algae on the north side but we were surprised at how much brighter all of the siding looked afterward. The painters tightened up much more of the deck boards than they had expected to but didn't complain--they only thought they would be painting. Even the deck rails (which were really the only things that showed some deterioration) look much better. I called several of the top siding people on Angie's List only to be told that they did not do repairs but would be glad to come out if I wanted all new siding! When I called Bowie, they were very professional, and in fact, called their sales person to come out that day (he was in the area with several other jobs). Their salesman Chris was a joy to work with - no excuses or promises - just honest, upfront answers about what could be done for the repair. (I have aluminum siding so it could be damaged during the removal and replacement process) Chris explained what they would need to do - take off our siding in the damaged area - wrap it with water proofing and reinstall the siding. I asked him to send me an estimate and to also give me an estimate on doing the roof (mine is 15 years old with 15 year shingles and starting to show wear) and a whole new siding job so we could look at all our options. There was never any pressure from him to sell me additional services.
The estimate was sent the next day by email and followed up with the delivery of a package outlining all three estimates and included all the specifics on products, etc. My husband and I decided to go with the siding repair (and hope for the best) and put a new roof on. The team that came out to do the siding repair did an excellent job. They got the siding off and on with no damage and wrapped the area in waterproofing to prevent future problems. They also showed us pictures of the area where the leak had come in. They were in and out quickly and left no mess.
The day the roof was to be done, I was concerned because we had rain due in the next day. But the guys were there at 7 am, had the old roof off, and the new roof on by 5:15. They put in a roof vent and even removed our two old skylights and installed two new ones for us. They laid out tarps to catch the garbage, moved my things out of the way, and cleaned everything up before they left. I couldn't even find a nail laying around. My neighbors were amazed on how fast they did the job and so were we. We are very pleased with the service and result and definately plan to use this company when we decide to do a full sididng job. Experience repairing all major brands of blinds and window treatments. This includes out of warranty products such as Hunter Douglas, etc. Consider repairing that broken blind, shade, or shutter, before replacing a whole room full, just to make them match. Repair is a fraction of the cost. 30 years of experience in the window treatment industry.
"Anthony is awesome! He performed the repairs in my home… easily and quickly! His fee was very reasonable (and a HUGE relief!). I will call him EVERY time I need blind repair or even have a question. I trust him to be fair and honest.
[The company that installed my window treatments and promised a LIFETIME WARRANTY on any needed repairs went out of business during the pandemic and I’ve been searching periodically for someone to perform simple repairs (cord replacement) on my blinds for years. I’d search for a while, get frustrated and then give up. Everyone either said they don’t repair products that they didn’t install themselves and I have to buy all new treatments in order to be covered under a warranty again (No way! I already been burned by that promise once…) or they insisted on removing my window treatments, taking at least a month to make the repairs and charging me almost as much as the cost of new treatments for the hassle and inconvenience.)"

FAQs for hurricane film service projects in Bel Air, MD
The average cost for window security film is around $7 per square foot or $42 per window. However, your total could range from $3 to $15 per square foot or $18 to $90 per window. The cost depends on the square footage of your window, the thickness and quality of the security film, the number of windows, and the type of windows.
Hurricane window film costs about $350 for a 75-foot roll, which can cover about 10 average-sized windows. This film can help prevent window shattering during extremely high winds, but it’s not impact-resistant like storm windows.
Your homeowners insurance provider may decrease your premium if you improve the security of your home with window security film. You can contact your insurer to determine whether there will be a change in cost after applying this addition. If there is a decrease in your homeowners insurance premium or deductible, it will likely only be available if your window film is installed by a professional window film installer.
Window security film won’t prevent break-ins or stop your window from shattering from impact during extreme weather like hurricanes or tornadoes. However, applying security film is relatively inexpensive, and it can make breaking into your home significantly harder—often hard enough to deter burglars entirely—and keep your window from shattering on your floor after impact. For these reasons, window security film is often a worthwhile investment that helps protect your property.
Window security film has a few key benefits that make it an enticing home improvement:
It’s much more affordable than shatterproof windows or hurricane windows.
It improves your home’s energy efficiency and can save money on heating and cooling bills.
It makes it harder to break into your home.
It helps prevent dangerous shattered glass after an impact.
You can tint it to provide additional protection from the sunlight.
Applying window security film yourself is possible, but we don’t recommend it. This task is simple in theory, but getting the product to sit on your windows evenly and without bubbles underneath is challenging for DIYers who lack the necessary experience and tools. You might save money on labor by applying it yourself, but you might also end up with a film that doesn’t look appealing, prompting you to start over and spend the money on a professional installation anyway. Plus, most window film manufacturers will void your warranty if you install the product yourself.
