"The 2 young men, Tim and Jarid arrived on time, correctly estimated the job to last 2 hours. They were extremely knowledgeable and professional. I anticipated a big mess, not so. They treated my home as if it was their own. The work included replacing a chimney liner to go all the way up to meet code. This required removing the hugely heavy wood burning fire place insert. Two caps were put on top of chimney, some re-pointing and waterproofing. All within only 2 hours. The A Rating rating is well deserved!"

"We recently moved into a new house. Had MacDonald's check out the chimney. Discovered we lacked sufficient venting of our furnace. They put in a long flexible vent. They seemed very knowledgeable. They showed up a bit late after not showing up for the original date (heavy rain). Always responded to phone calls, though. Feeling much more safe now."

"Robert replaced the roof on our house quickly and efficiently. He answered all of our questions (we had a lot!) and always had a good attitude. He also installed a skylight for us and even picked it up from the store since we couldn't fit it into our car. Pleasure to work with!"

"Everything went wonderfully with this company.  They were very professional, listened to exactly what my problem was, and explained to me how they were going to diagnose the problem and/or solve it before doing any actual work.  Once they started, the team (three people came) worked together like a well-oiled machine.  One was in the room with diagnostics, one was at the fuse box looking for possible problems there, and the third went into the crawlspace beneath our house to look at the physical wiring.  Once the problem was found (there was a faulty wire beneath the house that had come loose from the junction box), it was fixed and tested within minutes and another full diagnostic was done to make sure there were no other possible issues.  They cleaned up after themselves very neatly.  They also replaced the light switch with a dimmer switch at no extra cost!  Well within my budget, and came in even lower than their original (FREE) estimate!  I would highly recommend this company to anyone in the Bergen County area.

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

No, range hoods do not necessarily have to be vented outside. Ductless or non-vented range hoods are available, which are common in condos or small kitchens where connecting to external ductwork isn't feasible. These hoods operate by taking in air, filtering it through charcoal filters to help eliminate smoke and odors, and then recirculating the cleaned air back into the kitchen. However, while these recirculating hoods are more versatile, venting to the outside is still the preferred and more effective method for completely removing smoke, odors, and gases from the room.

Ensures safe electrical connections and proper venting, improving kitchen air quality.

A range hood is an exhaust fan for your kitchen, and several types and styles exist. They are meant to remove grease, moisture, and fumes from your stove. Although some models filter and recirculate the air, the most effective ones remove the air through a duct that’s vented to the outdoors.

By positioning ductwork for optimal airflow and reducing potential leaks.

Most residential range hoods have a CFM between 200 and 600. A higher CFM means your range hood is better at removing smoke and odors from your kitchen. The measurement ultimately depends on your stove’s width and heat output as well as the size of your kitchen.

Compared to the average size of a stove and kitchen, 350 CFM would be the minimum recommended rating for the average kitchen. However, selecting a higher CFM range hood would guarantee better ventilation to match your cooking habits, whether they’re minimal or extensive.
