"From the first meeting. Rob was knowledgeable on the type of doors and windows I needed. And the additional work involved. Thru the process of install they discovered rotted wood which they replaced without hesitation and came in within the budget. Great team of workers."

"I had an old storm door that did not stay closed. I contacted Shoreline Home Services through Home Advisor. Mr Swanson came to my home very quickly and we looked at the problem. It was determined that I needed a new storm door. Mr Swanson helped me with the selection and ordering of a new storm door. When the new door arrived it was installed without delay. Installation was expertly done. From start to finish working with Shoreline Homer Services and Mr Swanson was an excellent experience."

"Excellent! David and his Team were Great! They replaced a rotting board below a patio sliding glass door. They showed up on time, completed the project the same day, were able to move a 700 pound granite step, and did this all in heavy rain. I would highly recommend David and his Team. "Mr. Pontes and his team did a wonderful job on our outdoor enclosed porch. Some of the projects were: Removal the old carpet and disposal, replace the screens around the whole room, install new vinyl floor 100% waterproof, scrape and sand the wood ceiling, painted wood and siding, one coat of stain on ceiling, one coat of clear Polyurethane on ceiling and many more things also. This is the second time I used his expertise for a job. Once again, everything turned out great! Thank You Mr. Pontes!"

Doors questions, answered by experts

Spacing a door is tricky since you need to leave enough of a gap for the door to move freely and not get stuck when the slab and frame contract and expand in dry and humid conditions. The ideal gap between a doorframe and slab is 1/8 of an inch. If the gap is any larger, the door will feel drafty. But if the gap is any smaller, the slab can get stuck due to weather changes.

Yes, you can add a door to your basement—it might even be required, depending on building codes in your area and whether or not you’re using the basement as a bedroom. A basement contractor can give you some advice on installation and help you add a door to your basement.

The lifespan of your door depends on the door type, its wear and tear, and the weather conditions in your area. For instance, front doors last between 20 and 60 years, depending on the material. Garage doors, on the other hand, last between 15 and 30 years. Interior doors don’t get hit with the elements and can last between 20 and 50 years, if not more.

Yes, new steel doors add value to your home. They improve curb appeal, increase home security, and make your home more energy-efficient. High-quality steel doors are durable, low-maintenance, and insulate well against hot and cold temperatures. Potential buyers often appreciate the added protection and aesthetic upgrade, so new steel doors can help your home stand out and increase its resale value.

Depending on the type of French doors you choose, they may be more expensive than sliding doors. Generally speaking, a single in-swing or out-swing French door will cost less than a sliding door, as it contains fewer materials and is easier to install. However, sliding doors usually have a slightly lower price tag, especially when compared to the standard double in-swing or double out-swing French doors.
