"I called them before Thanksgiving because my heat was not working at all. They were able to come out that night and worked on it. They had to replace a bunch of parts and the total was around $1350. They left system seemed to be kicking on. However, heat on the third floor continued to not work , they came back and flushed the system the next day. Started to work. That night the worker told me they would come back and replace the third zone regulator (valve not sure what it is called) free of charge and service the heater 2nd week of Dec. When I called tht week to confirm the guy on the phone said there was nothing on the books. Was supposed to call me back to schedule something and never did. Meanwhile, my heat up stairs wouldn’t stop heating and I could not reach anyone there. I mean I paid nearly $1500 for them to fix the problem and it was broken. Still. So I called back. Spoke to the same guy again the Friday before Christmas. He apologized for not getting back to me because he was “out of the country”. But said he could get someone there the 23rd and then said he.could possibly get someone there the next day and that he would contact me. Never contacted me and then when I called to confirm they were coming on the 23rd I got a voicemail, left a message , and never got a call back. I am so disappointed but so frustrated that I went to Home Depot and bought the part they said they were going to replace and now my heater works. On top of that I believe they over charged me for the parts because I paid significantly less than they charged me. I will be finding someone else to service my heater. I do not appreciate the way I kept getting jerked around. I called them based on reviews here and I am shocked there are not more negative ones. Would of have gave a worse score if it wasn’t for the fact that the guy who came was very nice and efficient. Too bad the business seems to be poorly run and the customer service sucks!"

We at The Funny Farm are factory trained to service array of high efficiency boilers and have years of experience dealing with your boiler and hot water needs. We offer system design, installation, startup and service. Whether you are a homeowner or contractor, we will work with you! We are grateful for those that chose to protect us, contact us and ask about our military and first responder discount. Being a family owned and operated business, we treat you like one of our own, eager to learn about you, your spouse, children and dogs too! Our goal is to provide you great customer service, that is timely, reliable and cost effective. Whether it be designing a new system or servicing the existing system, we are here to help. Here are some things to think about: If your boiler is not serviced annually, it may void the manufacturers warranty. Boiler and heating systems that are not maintained annually, wear down faster and need to be replaced sooner than those that are. Annual maintenance allows us to find potential future problems ,which we in turn, notify you of the problem as well as the cost, so you can prepare ahead of time. We are factory trained to work on HTP, Lochinvar, Bosch, Buderus and Weil-Mclain high efficiency gas and propane fired boilers and water heaters. We also help your home be more "green" by advising you on new programmable thermostats and high efficient pumps!

Knowing how long your existing HVAC units can last is essential to determine if you need a repair or replacement. Typically, most modern air conditioning units can last between 15 to 20 years, and most furnaces can work properly for 15 to 30 years. If your HVAC system is on the older side and you decide to replace one unit, it might make sense to replace both simultaneously to save on costs and future hassle.
While different HVAC contractors might offer higher or lower prices than competitors, the best time to replace your HVAC system is when customer demand is low. The beginning of summer and the beginning of winter bring the most demand for HVAC systems, so if you can, consider replacing your HVAC units in the early spring or fall. Many HVAC companies offer special off-season coupons that help lower the overall cost.
The average cost to hire an HVAC contractor is between $50 and $150 per hour if charging hourly. However, some HVAC contractors will charge a flat fee by the type of service they are performing—for example, an inspection can cost between $150 to $500. Keep in mind that emergency repairs—which are made after business hours or around major holidays—generally cost more than scheduled repairs.
Yes, most states require HVAC technicians to be certified, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed HVAC technician could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
The average cost of HVAC repairs is around $350. However, that price can be as low as $100 or as high as $2,000 or more, depending on the repair. For example, replacing a capacitor is a relatively inexpensive repair, ranging from $100 to $500. However, a compressor repair is a more expensive repair, ranging from $750 to $2,000.
