"Movers on the Go did a great job with our recent move.  They were timely, friendly and professional, fast, and careful with both our possessions and the building, and very reasonably priced.  We have some large furniture that had to be moved through some tight spaces in our old condo - they were careful with both our furniture and the building.  At our new house, they kindly put boxes in the rooms we requested, making unpacking easy for us.  Per my request, they wrapped all of our large art pieces in moving blankets, and everything came through the move in good condition.
This is our second time moving with Dominic and his crew, and they did a great job both times.  We're very satisfied and highly recommend Movers on the Go!

"The experience was mixed feelings.  They did a nice job moving but there were a lot of damage to some furniture.  But they made good on it.  I was able to resolve the issue with the company.  It is a small company.  The owner was very responsive and was accepting of the damaged that happened to my stuff.  We had good personal service from the owner.  The movers themselves were very pleasant.  I think the damage took place while are stuff was on storage.  We had it on storage for nine months with them.  Their storage facility was actually very nice.  We looked at a lot of moving companies and that was our main concern because was that they have everything in storage.  Their warehouse was dry and well maintained.  The price was good.  Everything went well except that during the storage, the most expensive piece of furniture we have got damaged.  It was not a lot of damage, it was just that the cost was pretty high.
The cost was just for moving, the storage was more than that.   "

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

Moving a washer and dryer can be difficult due to the appliances’ weight and size. If you need to move these appliances up or down stairs, then it will be more challenging. It also depends on the type of dryer you have, as a gas dryer is more complicated to disconnect than an electric dryer. The difficulty of the task also depends on whether you’re easily wheeling the washer and dryer up a moving truck’s loading ramp or lifting them yourself.

Yes, in almost all cases, it is worth the investment to hire professional piano movers. Pianos are not only heavy and bulky but are also often expensive and delicate instruments. Attempting to move one yourself poses a significant risk of damage to the piano, your home, and can lead to serious personal injury, especially when navigating stairs. The average cost of hiring professional movers (around $400) is typically much less than the potential cost of repairs, replacement, or medical bills that could result from an unsuccessful DIY move.

There are several effective ways to save money when hiring a moving company, primarily by handling some tasks yourself and being strategic with scheduling. Consider these methods:

  • Pack Your Own Belongings: You can significantly reduce costs by packing and protecting your items yourself. This includes wrapping delicate items, organizing them into boxes, and taping the boxes closed. You can use towels, clothes, and suitcases to pack belongings and protect breakables.

  • Provide Your Own Materials: Source free packing materials from friends and family, or reuse boxes and bubble wrap from a previous move.

  • Schedule Strategically: Book your move well in advance. Rates are often lower if you schedule your move on a weekday during the off-season, which typically runs from October through April.

  • Compare Quotes: Get moving quotes from at least three professional movers in your area. This allows you to compare services and choose the best value.

  • Ask for Discounts: Inquire if the moving company offers any special coupons or deals.

  • Purchase Moving Insurance: Protect your investment by purchasing moving insurance, especially for expensive or antique belongings.

  • Divide the Labor: While you can save money by packing, it's wise to leave the more dangerous and physically demanding work—like loading, unloading, and moving heavy furniture—to the professionals.

Services typically take 1-2 hours, depending on the unit and complexity of the relocation.

Hiring professional movers is usually worth the investment. These moving pros have the expertise and experience to get the job done quickly and safely, saving you time and potentially avoiding damage to your belongings. Professionals are especially a good idea if you’re moving long distances or large, bulky items, like furniture, pianos, or vehicles. Pros will also know when you need moving permits based on where you live and whether or not the moving truck will block traffic.
