"Installed a french drain and two pumps last fall. Also had half concrete basement floor leveled... Gave me one of those lifetime warranties. My house is on water table, a particularly bad one. Every solution created 2 new problems because I have a river underneath my house. (Not the fault of any waterproofing co.) Wendell and his crew have been at house multiple times in order to improve my situation offering many different options. These guys have worked really hard here and can be recommended solely on the hard work they put in after the contract was fulfilled. Best price too."

"The installers came out on time at 8:30 am and completed the installation later that evening. Explained everything, labeled all the pipes, and were careful to put everything back in place and clean up before they left. Overall very professional and polite. Would definitely recommend this company."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

It is safe to flush the toilet even if the pipes are frozen, and this may even help clear out the pipes. But if the supply line is frozen, the toilet won’t refill itself until it’s thawed out. You can still flush by pouring water into the tank to refill it.

You can unclog a double kitchen sink by plunging the side with the garbage disposal. Cover the drain hole on the other side first to avoid creating a mess. Plunge up and down until the water starts to drain. You can also pour in baking soda and vinegar to try and dissolve a clog.

Plumbers will typically take one to two hours to install a new drain pipe, but that timeline can vary based on the area’s accessibility, the drain length, and the type of drain line. Replacing an easily accessible p-trap under a sink could take as little as a half an hour, while replacing a larger section of drain line behind the wall could take as long as three to four hours. When hiring a plumber for your specific installation, ask them to provide an estimated timeline to get a more accurate assessment.

Sometimes when a pipe bursts in a house, it makes a clang or popping noise; however, that doesn’t mean you’ll hear it. Newer pipes tend to be quieter than older pipes. Plus, a pipe can easily burst out of earshot, especially if it’s a floor or two away from you.

If you do hear an unusual popping noise, consider hiring a plumber to inspect your pipes. Most of the time, you’re more likely to notice a burst pipe either from a visible leak or because water won’t run out of your tap properly.

Yes, you can technically use a utility knife or straight blade to cut through PEX pipe. However, this isn't an ideal method simply because you won't get the same clean cut that you'll get with a pipe cutter. A utility knife will likely create angles that weaken your push connections. If you use a utility knife, score the pipe with the knife along your marked line several times before making your final cut.
