"Hugh's Energy is a quality company and it starts at the top with owner-President, Tom Dromgoole. Tom made a site visit to my home to discuss details of the insulation including the process, timing, and outcomes; he answered all of my questions. He also came the day of the insulation to check on how things were going. His crew, led by Parris, was excellent - knowledgeable, efficient and clean. If you are considering insulating your home, just call this company and save yourself time."

"We had a great experience with Chris and his team on the insulation of our walls and attic. Very professional and worked within our budget. He explained in detail the benefit and savings of blown-in insulation and we are happy that we chose this route as we definitely have noticed a decrease in the amount of oil we use each year and the house feels much warmer. We also reached out to Chris when we were ready to update our pressure treated deck and replace it with Trex. Another professional job completed by Chris and his team. Very fair pricing, clean up and disposal of old deck top notch. We highly recommend ECO Insulators for your insulation or renovation needs."

"Vendor was able to complete and interior framing project in record time and was able to do a patch work job on an area of my roof that had been damage by a falling tree. This was completed in a 24 hour period. While on site, I requested advice on future siding work that needs to be done later this Spring. Vendor was very helpful and I will be using them to do the work required."

"From our initial meeting with the salesperson about siding project the was very thorough and explained all of our options. The whole Pro Home Services crew was very professional and helpful whenever we had any questions. We're very happy with the way that our home looks from before, we have received many compliments from our neighbors and friends. We can not  thank Pro Home Services enough for the great work that they accomplished, work was completed in the amount of time that was said in a neatly manner.   Words can not express our gratitude to Pro Home Services for the diligence of the workers."

This is probably not your roof:
But, if your roof has damaged flashing, missing shingles, curling, blistering, buckling, rotting and algae growth (which appears as dark or greenish stains), you probably need a new roof.
If you’re roofer doesn’t talk about these, you’re talking to the wrong guy:

"Jeff and his crew were wonderful! I couldn't be happier with both the results and with Jeff, Bruce and the rest of the guys. I was very nervous going into this project, because my home dates back to the 1830's and I didn't want to loose any of the charm or character while at the same time I wanted the energy savings and ease of use of newer products. Jeff explained what my options were, and the pro's and con's of each, and helped me to make an informed decision. My windows now function and look beautiful, my siding is vinyl but you would never know by looking at it and there is energy saving insulation under it, my roof doesn't leak anymore, and I have an extra room off the kitchen! Jeff, Bruce and the rest of his crew were on time, finished in a timely fashion, cleaned up when the job was finished and kept me informed throughout the process. I would definately hire Jeff and Bruce again!"

"Sara Ibora, the designer,  is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. She listened to our ideas, showed us different styles and layouts she had done and then visited our home to get a feel for the project and take measurements/pictures. Once we had a basic concept in mind, Sara went back and developed some plans along with illustrations to show us how it would all come together. She worked with the contractors to make sure that our dreams could fit into the budget we planned for the project -even with all the upgrades we needed to bring our home up to code.
The cabinetry she recommended is beautifully made and totally fits our house. From ordering to delivery  there weren't any problems - everything was packed nicely and labeled properly - everything arrived undamaged, and the contractor had no problems with assembly.
After the kitchen was finished in April, Sara contacted us twice after to make sure that everything was OK and to see if she there was anything we wanted to change or add. We thought of a wine rack and she had someone in her office drop it off at the house for no extra charge."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

The best way to reduce heat upstairs is to release it by opening a window. Hot air rises, and if you can create some airflow by opening a window upstairs and also one on a lower level, the hot air should be pushed out of the home. Remember that fans pointing out the window do a much better job of circulating air than fans pointing into the home.

Insulating a stone house is an expensive and involved process because it requires building a double-walled house. The walls don’t need to be the same thickness, but they both need to be thick enough to handle any structural demands and meet fire and safety standards. The insulation (usually foam or fiberglass) is then installed between the two stone walls.

R-value stands for resistance value and is a number assigned to insulation that states how good the insulation is at heat transference (insulation). The R-value of injection foam is around 4 which homeowners will be happy to know is actually quite good. Another benefit of injection foam versus fiberglass foam is that the colder it gets, the more injection foam retains its resistance properties, whereas fiberglass tends to lose its efficiency in colder temperatures.

When temperatures are too cold, it can keep ice from melting, and products like ice melt and rock salt are ineffective. Water turns to ice in temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Ice melts on its own when temperatures reach above 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ice melt loses effectiveness in temperatures below -25 degrees Fahrenheit, and rock salt works in temperatures 5 degrees Fahrenheit and warmer.

The amount and type of insulation your home needs depends on your location, climate, and the specific installation area (attic, walls, or floors). Your local building code will typically determine the minimum required R-value. For specific recommendations, Energy Star suggests the following R-values: homes in the Southern U.S. should have R30 to R60 in attics and R13 to R25 in floors and walls; homes in moderate climates need R38 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls; and homes in northern states require R49 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls.
