"Preston called less than a minute after I submitted my request. He quoted a price and an arrival time and delivered on both. He was cheerful, funny and engaging, a real delight to work with. He fixed the clogged drain and gave us advice on how to avoid the problem in the future. We'll definitely call Preston next time we need a plumber!"

Customers say: True professional

"Still Services recently updated all of the plumbing lines in our home in addition to re-plumbing our bathroom in conjunction with a remodel. The original plumbing was not vented properly and Still Services took care to make sure everything was brought up to code and in superior working order. Everyone at Still Services was incredibly easy to work with; from the owner Matt who came to discuss the scope of the project and provide an estimate, to Kirsten in the office coordinating and communicating, to the technician, Stone, and his helping hands who performed the physical labor. I couldnâ t be more pleased with how smoothly the process went and with the exceptional final product. Still Services was respectful and accommodating in regards to our time, space, finances and in answering any questions I had along the way. I will without question hire Still Services again in the future should any plumbing issues ever arise. Additionally, I look forward to working with them when itâ s time to upgrade our homeâ s heating and cooling system."

"John called as soon as I started my project in Home Advisor. His estimate over the phone was the lowest of four by close to $100. He seemed to know the exact problem I explained. We scheduled an appointment for the next day. Michael called to let me know he will be on time if not early. He was 25 minutes early and got right to work. Within the hour he was done, as anticipated. The cost was toward the lower end of the estimate John gave. And the work was done and once again my tub drained! I know who I am calling for all my plumbing stuff now."

"We hired Budget Dry to review our basement problems and hired them to do the waterproofing project, install new basement windows, install the Santa Fe dehumidifier, and recently they installed our back-up battery system. We highly recommend them -always courteous, get the jobs done quickly and neatly, and always respond when we need their advice/want to purchase new filters. A great company!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

In older Northampton homes, plumbing lines share tight wall cavities with electrical conduits and heating pipes. Opening walls for repairs exposes these overlapping systems. If your home relies on steam radiators or baseboard heating, water supply lines run parallel to heating pipes, requiring careful coordination to avoid disruptions. Always hire licensed contractors to identify active knob-and-tube wiring or nearby gas lines before starting work, keeping your property secure and functional.

Helpful?

Protect your family during plumbing upgrades in MA by keeping children and pets completely out of work zones. Disturbing older pipes releases hazardous lead dust or asbestos fibers, requiring certified specialists to manage the area safely. Because winter projects require shutting off your heating system, create a reliable backup plan to stay warm. Finally, always flush your water lines thoroughly after service interruptions to ensure your drinking water remains clean.

Helpful?

Combining plumbing with other upgrades is a smart approach for older homes in Northampton. Opening walls reveals outdated electrical wiring or poor insulation, making it practical to address multiple systems at once. You should also coordinate interior work during the cold winter months to avoid frozen ground issues. Scheduling trades together streamlines the permit and inspection process, reducing your total project timeline and minimizing disruptions to your daily routine.

Helpful?

During a plumbing project in Northampton, you must actively participate in several key phases. You are responsible for approving permit applications and verifying your contractor holds a valid state license. If you upgrade your water service line or relocate a meter, you must coordinate directly with city officials. You also need to finalize fixture layouts early to ensure compliance with state codes and provide property access for mandatory rough-in inspections.

Helpful?

When planning plumbing projects in MA, prepare for surprises hidden in older infrastructure. Homes built before 1980 feature asbestos pipe wrap or lead solder, requiring professional abatement. You must also account for mandatory local permit and inspection fees. Additionally, contractors frequently uncover past freeze damage inside walls or deteriorating clay sewer lines underground. Address these underlying issues immediately to ensure your new fixtures operate safely and efficiently for years.
