"It took longer than anticipated due to the fact that Bob hadn't installed the Trex system before, but he was meticulous and careful, and the deck looks great and keeps the patio underneath dry so that we can enjoy it even in wet weather."

Small jobs welcome

"I have used Mr. Handyman three times so far and will definitely use them again. It's been a joy to have a qualified person in my home who can take care of all the things on my TBD list, be they large or small, in a positive and professional manner. I think I had 9 things on my list the first time they came out, and everything was taken care of that same day. They are competent, focused, and there to help. Prompt, dedicated, great communication, and all the tools and supplies to get the job done. I felt their prices were reasonable, especially as the work was completely done when they left - no punch list, no coming back another day to finish. Cleaned up really well, too. I'm 100% satisfied."

"The experience we had with CRM was truly excellent! Amanda from Customer Service communicated professionally and was always available to answer any questions or concerns, and kept us updated throughout the project. The professionalism of Derek, Handyman, was also exceptional. He communicated every step of the way in building a beautiful deck for us. He is a master carpenter whose work is stellar, from railings with solar caps, to stairs, flooring, sides, etc., his knowledge and expertise were above and beyond. We will definitely be having Derek do future projects for us and are so grateful for Derek and Amanda in making this such a positive experience."

"This team arrived promptly on time, examined the areas of my front porch that needed repair, explained clearly how they would go about each task, and gave me a fair price for the entire job. Then they completed the work on time and left the porch vastly improved and the front yard immaculate. During the whole project they were professional, courteous, tidy, and a pleasure to have around. I recommend them highly!"

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

The average pool loses one-eighth of an inch of water every day. However, how much your pool will lose depends on various factors, such as water temperature, climate, and weather. Warm water will evaporate more quickly than cold water, and pools in low-humidity climates will experience faster evaporation. However, this doesn’t mean you’ll need to constantly refill your pool.

Coping is the material that lines the perimeter of a pool and seals the transition between the top of the pool wall and the water. Decking surrounds the poolscape and extends far beyond the water's edge to provide a safe walking and lounging area. In short, coping is the border between the decking and the pool itself.

Calcium lumps in a pool are calcium deposits that form when a pool's water parameters are not in the normal range. They can float around on the surface of the pool water, making it look and feel dirty. The most common causes of calcium lumps in pools are calcium hardness above 1,000 ppm, alkalinity over 120, and a pH over 7.8. Keeping your pool’s calcium levels, alkalinity, and pH levels within the normal, safe ranges is the best way to prevent calcium lumps and other problems, including damage to the pool surface.

Pool leaks most commonly occur at joints or where different materials meet. The most frequent leak spots include:

  • The Pool Skimmer: Where the plastic skimmer meets the pool's liner or shell.

  • The Pool Liner: Tears can develop in vinyl liners, especially those between 5 and 20 years old. Leaks also occur around the liner's edge.

  • Fittings and Accessories: Areas around return lines, the main drain, and pool lights are common culprits.

  • Pool Equipment: The pump, filter, and filter housing can also leak.

While leaks in underground pipes are less common, they can be costly to fix. It's usually best to check the more common spots before investigating the plumbing system.

Home inspectors only check swimming pools if they have expertise in that area. During a standard home inspection, they focus on the house’s structure, roof, foundation, electrical, plumbing, and other components. If they examine your pool, they’ll check the pump and heater. If you want a thorough pool inspection, hire a pool inspection specialist.
