Customers say: Quick response

"Stuart is professional, thorough, responsive and very knowledgeable. He patiently answered all of our questions throughout the inspection and we left feeling like we had a great understanding of the home we're buying. As for the inspection report itself, I intend to reference it for months and years to come as I prioritize improvements. Stuart was also able to turn the report around quickly to accommodate the timelines of our purchase. I would 100% recommend him to anyone in need of home inspection services."

Customers say: True professional

"Hiring Mark to do a home inspection for a property that my wife and I are buying was worth every penny of his fee. Mark was available to do our home inspection the day after I called him and he was punctual. He spent over 2 hours and carefully inspected and ran each appliance that was in the home, checked the hot water temperature, checked each and every light and outlet throughout the house, garage and attic and did a complete inspection of the underside of the home. He also inspected the roof, exterior of the home and made recommendations. He provided us with a 45 page inspection report within an hour of the conclusion of the inspection and picked up on some marginal items that I had not noticed. Mark is a knowledgeable, professional, and qualified home inspector and I would not hesitate to hire him in the future."

"Jason had come out to do the inspection and then again with another gentleman to do the remediation. Jason was able to schedule the appointment within days for the remediation. They estimated 2.5 hours and they were done just before that time frame. They were quick, efficient, cleaned up after themselves and very friendly. attic looks great! I would use them again!"

"Beantown Home Improvements completely transformed our home. After several months of research, quotes, and hesitation we chose to move forward with Beantown Home Improvements. Jim had done some work for us in the past and after seeing his company grow some more over the years we knew we could trust his company again. Beantown was upfront with all the details, cost, and timeline. His employees were very professional and courteous. Each day his crews showed up and worked from sun up till sundown. Each day the work site was cleaned up as if no one was there. There was constant communication throughout the entire project. We were blown away by the transformation of our home when the project was complete. Beantown Home Improvements does not disappoint. We will continue to recommend Beantown Home Improvements to everyone."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

Hiring a reliable home builder is an essential task, but there are a few questions you can ask a potential builder to ensure you they are trustworthy and up to the task:

  • How long do you expect the process to take?

  • Are you fully licensed and insured?

  • How much of the work will you subcontract?

  • Will you pull all of the necessary permits for the job?

  • How long is the builder’s warranty you include with your work?

  • How do you handle resolution for issues I might have with the finished product?

  • How much experience do you have?

No, home improvement loan rates typically do not drop during certain times of the year. Interest rates go up and down based on economic conditions rather than on the time of the year. Some banks may offer slight rate discounts around the same holidays every year, but this is a marketing decision rather than a decision based on the time of the year. If you want to use a home improvement loan to fund your remodeling project, the best option is to shop around at different banks for the best rates.

Many experts agree on a twice-yearly schedule for DIY foundation checks and professional inspections every one to three years, depending on the condition of your foundation. Visually checking your foundation twice a year will ensure that it is not damaged during severe summer or winter weather events. Extreme temperature changes impact the soil surrounding the foundation, as do lengthy rain storms. Both issues expose the foundation to excessive moisture, which is not good for its overall health and stability. Call a pro if you notice any damage or changes during your DIY check.

Asbestos is commonly found in certain older homes, depending on the time period in which they were built. Asbestos use in home construction began in the 1920s and peaked after World War II before being limited by legislation in the ’70s, so a house constructed in 1880 is unlikely to contain asbestos, while one built in 1950 is much more likely to. Research a home’s history to determine the time period when it was built and any renovations made since.

Inspections include examining flue liners, interior walls, fireplace assembly, and materials for obstructions, build-ups, or signs of wear and recommending necessary action.
