28 years hands on experience in Masonry repair and restoration including; Historic masonry preservation, Chimney liner installations, foundation repairs, concrete repairs, masonry waterproofing, Hardscape and landscape projects are welcomed also. Owner Jeremy Truscott is the sole employee, present on all jobs and responsible for the execution of all work. Note- Not inclined towards pursuing low bid corner cutting projects or band-aid fixes that merely hide the appearance of a problem. Fix it once, fix it right or not at all. "Nightmare experience with this shop. Paid almost $5000 for a gas fireplace insert including installation. At the appointment almost 2 months later, the installers came but did not set the gas fireplace up safely/correctly (my plumber told them) and then left to go to another job, leaving mine unfinished. Barry ran my credit card through for the final (third) payment, after failure 1st visit, without my permission when the fireplace was not safe or useable. The second time the installers came, they did not call or page my plumber as had agreed upon. The installers took a sledgehammer to the top of the chimney damaging the crown and the top few rows of bricks of the chimney. Instead of fixing the liner which needed to be near the top of the chimney, they shortened the chimney! Put a top on that was clearly used as it was dented and rusty, not new. Barry was rude and did not return my calls or emails. Barry left the installation with damage and unfinished. I had to hire a professional mason for thousands of dollars to repair the damage and finish the installation. Worst home improvement experience in 35 years I have owned my house."

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Ensures safety and compliance with local codes, preventing leaks and related hazards.

Temporarily capping a gas line—for renovations or during travel—doesn’t require a permit. If you plan to remove a gas line and cap it completely, you’ll need to apply and pay for one through your town or city. Depending on your region and its local codes, you may pay between $25 and $100. To avoid a gas leak or other hazards, some cities take the job of permanently adjusting or capping a gas line out of the hands of homeowners. Instead, they require hiring a professional gas plumber.

Most qualified local plumbers in your area should be able to help with this job. However, it's always best to check with your utility company before starting any gas-related project. Speak with them about your needs and request recommendations for licensed plumbers who can pull permits and properly install the line.

Not all gas fireplaces need a chimney. If you install a ventless gas fireplace, it will release low levels of combustion byproducts back into your living space (instead of pushing them outside through a chimney or vent). Ventless fireplaces burn fuel efficiently, so the emissions are minimal—but they could bother people with allergies or respiratory issues.

Capping a gas line costs approximately $125. The final price varies from $75 and $150 depending on your contractor’s hourly rate. To completely remove a gas line and cap it at the base can cost up to $250. Most contractors will charge a flat fee instead of by the hour since capping is often part of a larger project.
