"I had just moved here, to a house that needs a lot of work. Bob Phalan was thorough, skilled, and effective. For the initial assessment, he found that the frame around the basement door had been ajar for years, which was one reason it leaked air so badly. He replaced the entire frame, as well as the door. It's beautiful now. For the window, he put in an energy-efficient Harvey replacement with a lot more glass, so the basement isn't as dark. He worked around a thicket of electrical cables and plumbing, which limited his access, but the results look great. As a result, the basement is five degrees warmer now. The first-floor rooms are warmer, too, because there are several places (fireplace, plumbing) where the basement air leaks upstairs. I'll get to those soon...
