His crew was able to get the pump running, and got the pool spotless in time for the holiday weekend. I was throughly impressed with there knowledge and attention to detail. "We called Ranieri Construction because a combination of ground settling and a sloppy repair made our concrete pool deck not only cracked and uneven, but also unsightly. Lou Ranieri explained that they couldn’t fix the cracks as they were, but would have to remove the filler from the first repair, grind down the uneven surfaces and stain the whole surface to achieve an even color. Once the plan was in motion, Andrew Ranieri worked tirelessly to grind down and level all the surfaces – this man is a definite perfectionist and the even surface is better than we ever thought was possible. A skim coat was applied and, once hardened, the whole area was cleaned and stained. It’s beautiful! We can’t say enough about how diligent Lou and Andrew are in their, often backbreaking, work. Once completed, the work area was left spotlessly clean. This is the type of company all should strive to be – a company where work ethic, integrity and the correct way of solving a problem are paramount. Thank you, Ranieri Construction! You're the best!"

"We are very pleased with our new tile flooring, Wellington was responsive and very nice to work with, he showed up when promised and finished the job in a timely manner. He even went above and beyond and helped out with some basement remodeling/carpentry. We would hire him and his team again!"

Chris, Brian, and the MCM staff were extremely helpful, responsive, and professional. Our inground pool is probably at least 50 years old and surrounded with concrete, and suddenly started losing water at such a great rate that we knew we had a major leak somewhere (but definitely not the liner.) I scouted around for a reputable firm to find the leak for us; MCM gave us the most reasonable estimate,  and with a clean record with the BBB I felt confident in engaging them. They arranged to help us out as soon as possible, they showed up on time, and did an excellent job at finding our main leak, and all the minor leaks as well. We arranged with them to fix the big leak (which was no small job, considering the age of the pool, and the location and condition of the lines) and once they had fixed that we were able to run the pump and filter without further problems. (Water is WAY too expensive where we live to have to keep filling the pool constantly all summer!) We had already had part of the concrete apron around the pool excavated to fix the one leak, so rather than reconcrete that part only to have it - and more - dug up again in the future, we decided to have the whole area excavated and to have MCM Pool come back to replace the entire line. Which they did. As busy as they were with pool closings, they were able to squeeze us in and replaced the entire line. MCM Pool did a great job all around - they kept in touch, showed up when promised, did the repairs quickly and effectively, and charged the most reasonable rates of any pool company I contacted. I would definitely use them again if I ever need any future pool repairs or service.

Install Above Ground Pools questions, answered by experts

An easy way to know whether your sand filter has enough sand is to check how full the filter is and what the sand looks and feels like. The filter container should be two-thirds to three-quarters full of sand. Look for interior marks indicating the ideal sand level. If you put your hand into the sand, it should flow through your fingers without clumping. The filter pressure gauge is also an easy indicator—the right amount of sand leads to normal pressure, while too much or too little sand can cause high or low pressure.

No, shock and chlorine are not the same thing, though they are related and both are used for pool maintenance. Regular chlorine, often in the form of tablets, is a sanitizer used for routine, day-to-day maintenance to keep a steady chlorine level. Pool shock, however, is a highly concentrated dose of chlorine used periodically for a more intense cleaning. It rapidly raises chlorine levels to fix issues like cloudy water or algae growth and also eliminates chloramines, which are byproducts of regular chlorination. Because their purposes and concentrations differ, they are not interchangeable, and proper pool care typically requires using both.

Concrete pools are very durable but can crack if not properly maintained. The most significant risk is winter weather and low temperatures when water can seep into crevices and freeze. To avoid damage, use the proper winterization chemicals, and don’t completely drain your pool. Concrete pool repairs cost around $75 per linear foot for small cracks.

The number of gallons in your pool will determine how much chlorine you’ll need to add to your pool for the first time. Chlorine levels should fall between 1 and 3 ppm. It's crucial to read the instructions on your chlorine packet to determine the number of tablets to put in the water based on your pool's capacity.

It’s best to avoid having wrinkles in a new pool liner. Since pool liners are very thin, it’s easy to have slight wrinkles in the liner upon initial installation. This might negatively affect your pool’s visual appearance and lead to tearing and holes in some cases. You’ll want to ensure proper measurements and accurate alignment during the installation process to prevent unsightly wrinkles from appearing.
