"Chris and Bob (Ortolani and Sons) did a SUPERB job. My wife and I have been in our home for 40 years. We don't remember ever being more pleased with any work done by anyone for us over all this time. We not only got a great paint job, with lots of carpentry to put the house in condition to be painted (replacing bad siding, rotted and damaged trim, bad exterior door sill, etc) but we believe we received excellent value. Not only was their work excellent but the whole job process was smooth. Chris and Bob were consummate professionals, finding things that needed doing and doing them without prompting. We felt they went above and beyond. They probably feel they were "just doing what was required" which is one of the things that makes them special. My family was in the painting business. I know how hard my father and grandfather worked to achieve the high the standards they set for themselves and what they did to please their customers. I saw the same level of care, skill, and meticulous attention to detail in the work that Ortolani and Sons did. I can provide lots of examples. "Summary - We hired Titanium Construction for a large job (room addition plus a complete kitchen remodel) and it went very well. We're extremely happy and would hire Titanium again. Details - The original, barely functional kitchen in our cape opened out onto a decrepit deck. The deck needed to be replaced before it fell down so we brought Ben and Titanium Construction in to see what our options were. After talking with Ben and an architect we decided to tear down the outer wall, build a new living room with deck off the kitchen, and completely redo the kitchen. It was a huge job that was done very well and the results have exceeded expectations. Ben at Titanium was great to work with. Very responsive, taking the inevitable curve-ball in stride, and selecting a great team to complete the work. We needed carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing and Ben ably arranged it all. We need to make special mention of Rafael and Ronaldo, who were the two carpenters who were on site basically every day. That consistency, and their obvious skill, was key to move the project along but what we'll long remember and appreciate is just how nice they were. This was a lengthy project and it was genuinely great to have them at our house throughout. Overall, the quality of the work was excellent. Everyone at Titanium listened to whatever thoughts and concerns we had and addressed them. The project has been a huge positive for us and the house. We would not hesitate to recommend Titanium."

From the beginning communication was poor, I was not told any updates and my house was left unlocked everyday with lights left on after the team left. When the project was done I had to have them come back to fix the overspray and paint splatter on my walls. My stove and counters were not covered when painting resulting in paint getting into these surfaces. The painting edges on all cabinets and on the trim was messy and all over the place in which I was told to wipe off with a cloth. My basement was left a mess and the painters helped themself to pieces of wood they assumed was scrape to use as painting supports- they ended up being pieces of a personal project I was working on. My wood floors were scratched by them trying to remove paint from my floors. At the end of this I was told this was normal practice and to hire a cleaning crew. Felt disrespected during this entire project."

Exterior painting services FAQs
You should paint your home exterior every five to 10 years, on average. Climate and surroundings can affect how well paint holds up. Wood siding will likely need a fresh coat of paint every three to seven years. Paint on brick tends to last about eight to 17 years, on average.
Calculate the square footage of the area you want to paint. Divide the square footage by 350 (the average square footage a gallon of paint covers). Multiply the number of gallons you need by two, as you’ll likely be applying two coats of paint. For a more accurate estimate, subtract the square footage of the windows and doors from the initial square footage total. It’s a good idea to plan for an extra gallon of paint to make sure you have enough to finish the job.
To calculate the square footage of a home exterior, painters multiply the length of the wall by the height of the wall to be painted. Then they add the total square footage for all of the walls to be painted. To calculate the price, they multiply the total square footage by their cost per square foot to prep and paint. Additional costs may factor in such as repairs, additional trim, and walls higher than the first story.
The cost to paint the exterior of a house ranges from $1,900 to $4,500 or about $1.50 to $4 per square foot, depending on the size, height, and complexity of the home layout. Other cost factors include your location, the type of siding (e.g., wood, aluminum, brick, stucco, etc.), and the kind of paint (e.g. oil-based, latex, acrylic, etc.). Painting the trim a different color or painting intricately designed trim can also increase the cost.
You should apply at least two coats of paint when painting the exterior of your house. Two coats of paint provides better durability and more even coverage than just one coat.
