We hired Olde Tudor Painting 12 years ago to paint the exterior of our home and because the quality of work was so outstanding and lasted so long, we decided to hire them again this summer. Jon and his crew haven't lost their touch! They worked everyday the weather allowed and were courteous and efficient. The site was kept clean and organized. Jon is pleasant and patient while we changed our minds (several times) about color choice. Pricing was reasonable. Highly recommended.

We couldn't be happier with the job Olde Tudor Painting did on our house. From the moment we contacted Jon to the moment the job was finished, our experience was outstanding. Jon and his team were extremely professional, punctual, friendly, fast and reasonably priced. We were about to put our house up for sale and realized (at the last minute) how desperately we needed a paint job. I asked around for recommendations and Jon's name kept coming up. So I gave him a call. And I'm so glad I did. Jon responded immediately and told us he was confident he could meet our tight deadline. After giving us a recommendation about paint color (more on that later), Jon ordered supplies and within a few days, got to work. He went through the house, fixing imperfections in the wall (there were many), precisely painting all the crown molding and baseboards and leaving us with beautifully smooth, crisp, fresh walls. After a few days of work, the house looked amazing. Normally we don't like having service people spending a lot of time in our house -- it just feels intrusive. This wasn't the case at all with Jon. He's so friendly and personable, and cleans up so thoroughly at the end of each day, it didn't feel at all uncomfortable to have him around. He even gave us plenty of painting tips that we'd definitely use... except we'll hire Jon to do the job for us so we'll probably never have a chance to put them to use.If you're curious, our house sold within a few days, after just one open house. I can't say that Jon's work was responsible, but it definitely didn't hurt! And as for that color recommendation Jon gave us: Our real estate broker was so enamored of the color and quality of the work, he brought his daughter and son-in-law to our place to see it before they painted their new place.Bottom line: I strongly recommend Olde Tudor Painting for anyone who values professionalism and high-quality work. We will definitely be calling Jon whenever we need painting.

Jon did a terrific job!  He not only helped us select colors, but also was a true professional in every aspect of the painting job.  I emphatically recommend Olde Tudor Painting to anyone looking for a quality job done at a reasonable price!

Jon was a consummate professional from start to finish.  He did almost all of the painting himself.  He worked around our schedule and the presence of a dog and two kids.  He did an excellent job painting and responded immediately to a request after full payment to paint three small additional spots.

VERY unhappy with the entire experience with Jon and his company. The job took months to complete because there were days/weeks when no one showed up. Stairs treads were removed and left open for 5 days until I reminded them that Halloween was approaching and they needed to be fixed before that. Paint started peeling down to the bare wood less than 3 months after the job was completed. From the peeled paint, it seems that there was one coat of primer and one final coat, not 2 as contracted. Jon was not available with any reliability nor did he respond to emails or phone calls for days. He was most available when he needed to get paid. My delay in submitting this report is that we tried working with him after the job was completed to have the problems remedied. It has been YEARS of emails, certified letters with return receipts and empty promises and lots of excuses to complete the job as promised. His excuses ranged from the irresponsible, that crew was not good and he won't use them even if he could find them to the absurd when he told us that wood was not meant to be painted. I would not recommend this company at all.

They did a good job. I used them only once so I can't say much about them. They cleaned up after themselves very well. I would recommend them.

I was very please with the quality of work performed. The efficiency from which it was done was excellent, and I thought they were very professional. There was no unusual damage to exterior plantings that would not be consistent with complete house paintings. I found the painters did their best when entry to the home was necessary. The workers did their best to leave interior orderly.

Horrible. Irresponsible messy painters. They destroyed the shrubs, played loud music, came into the house and stole money and other objects. Stole one bicycle panier from the garage and got paint on the other one, left their ladders in the yard all winter, left the storm windows around the house until asked to put them back in the windows in November, left a disastrous mess in the sunroom included a shop vac left behind I had to move into the garage. Owner of the company did not compensate for his workers or apologize or even acknowledge the mess.
Response from OLDE TUDOR PAINTING
"THIS JOB WAS COMPLETED OVER A YEAR AGO. YES A SHRUB DID GET DAMAGED BUT IT WAS INEVITABLE, AS THE OWNER, AND THE PERSON WHO HIRED US, OF THE BUILDING HAS POINTED OUT IN HIS REPORT ABOVE. WHY WOULD WE TAKE PENNIES FROM THE TENANTS JAR COLLECTION. IT DID TAKE US A DAY TO MOVE HER "STUFF" AROUND, AS BEST WE COULD, AS SHE WAS IN THE APT, SO WE COULD GET TO THE WINDOWS AND MAYBE WE KNOCKED OVER THE JAR, BUT... WHY WOULD WE TAKE ONLY ONE BICYCLE PANNIER AND LEAVE THE OTHER? THE OWNER OF BUILDING WAS OK WITH US LEAVING THE LADDERS, OVER THE WINTER PERIOD. WE AND THE OWNER OF THE BUILDING DEALT WITH THE SITUATION AND THE JOB PROFICIENTLY."

Great service all around. Fantastic attention to detail and I appreciated the thorough clean-up. The fee was very reasonable given the work done.

They did a terrific job, especially with the detail work in our kitchen. We used three different colors in that room and they were very helpful in suggesting ways to enhance the multicolor effect. They also painted the trim and our bookshelves. The job took about two weeks but we are very pleased with the results. They also cleaned up after themselves very thoroughly, which is a huge plus. Unfortunately, I don't remember the price, but it was reasonable.

This was a small paint job with no time line. We told Mr. Gummer whenever we could scrape and paint two coats of paint on dormers. He fit us in and we were happy.

If I were able to create the ideal house painter, he or she would look a lot like Jon Gummer of Olde Tudor Painting. Jon is a real human being, one who understands how difficult it is to have one's house disrupted, to choose colors that seem to change once they appear on the walls, and to have people traipsing in and out for weeks at a time. Jon took the time to talk to me, to learn what I liked and how I lived, to suggest approaches I would never have imagined, and then to advise me when I wasn't sure about the decisions I'd made. Once or twice he counseled me to live with a color for a while before deciding to change it; other times he readily agreed that ''we've made a mistake.'' As a consequence, I trust Jon and what he says to me--a rarity in this business. So if you are looking for an honest, creative, understanding, and talented painter, Jon Gummer is your man!

I did a fair amount of research and interviewed two other painters before selecting Olde Tudor Painting. The high Angie's List rating was a big factor in my decision. At first, I thought the contracted price was high, but after the crew started working, I changed my mind. They say that the secret of a good paint job is in the preparation, in this case, scraping and sanding. This was a very hard working crew that just kept at it. The house was in bad shape with lots of layers of paint and lots of peeling from previous bad prep jobs. This was the most thorough cleaning of a surface to be painted that I have ever seen. They (both Jon & the crew) checked in with me several times to make sure I was happy with the way the job was going. The crew was very workmanlike and very meticulous with both painting and cleanup. This was a three-color job, so there was lots of detail work. Overall, this was a very impressive job. It exceeded my expectations.

The project took about 2.5 weeks to complete, but was done in a very thorough and meticulous manner. I would absolutely hire Olde Tudor again and plan on having these folks perform an exterior project before the end of the summer.

Jon is a pleasure to work with. Courteous, frank, and witty. His crew left some trash behind, but that was a very minor issue. Completed all work as promised. Good quality at a fair price. We had a tight schedule, between finishing renovation work and needing to move in, and he worked with us to fit our job in to his busy calendar.

Great quality job! We were very happy with the work. Everyone was very nice, timely, polite, etc. They answered all our questions, cleaned up well each day, etc. Their price was a bit more than others, but because they were so highly rated, we decided to pay more to get a quality job. It was worth it! They were very responsive during the actual project, but not as quick to respond during the quote process. There was some confusion on the quote which we redid a few times, but all worked out well in the end. Again, we were very happy with the work.

First I must say that Jon was incredibly efficient within an hour of my call he was on his way to my house and shortly thereafter we had a quote and it was the best quote of all the Angies List painters we called. He was incredibly patient with our indecisiveness. We flip-flopped on colors many times but he stayed with us. He did A LOT of extra work on the job (including painting a return duct, and putting in a new light fixture) without extra pay or any grumbling. The work was incredible! His folks were masterful no tape, all detail work done by hand. They were there on time every time, and were both quite and accommodating of our baby's sleep schedule. They left the place immaculate every morning and were consummate professionals. They completed the job absolutely on time and on budget and we were proud to have their sign on our lawn! Jon was smart, humble and great to work with. We were so happy with his work that we are now considering doing the rest of our house!

Olde Tudor painting did a great job. This by far was my best experience, as a homeowner, with a contractor. The crew was very professional and hard working. Jon Gummer, the owner, was generous and good humored, even when complications arose on our end. Overall, I feel like I live in a whole new house. The paint job has given the house new life. I would gladly hire Olde Tudor again.

JON'S COLOR SUGGESTIONS WERE VERY COMPLIMENTARY TO THE END RESULT. HE AND HIS WORKERS WERE VERY ATTENTIVE IN LEAVING THE WORKPLACE CLEAN AND TIDY AT THE END OF EACH DAY. WE INTEND TO USE OLDE TUDOR PAINTING IN OUR FUTURE NEEDS. WE CERTAINLY RECOMMEND HIS COMPANY TO ANYONE.

THEY DID A GREAT JOB. JON CAME OUT VERY QUICKLY AND GAVE AN ESTIMATE. THE PRICE WAS WELL BELOW 2 OTHER ESTIMATES WE RECEIVED FROM OTHER ANGIE'S LIST COMPANIES. THERE WERE 2 WORKERS AT OUR HOUSE FOR 7 DAYS. THEY WERE VERY POLITE & QUIET, WE BARELY EVEN KNEW THEY WERE HERE. THEY CLEANED UP VERY WELL EACH NIGHT. JON'S PRETTY QUIET BUT VERY NICE ABOUT PAINT COLOR SELECTIONS & SUCH. HE CAME THE FIRST DAY OF THE JOB TO MAKE SURE THEY HAD ALL THE DETAILS CORRECT. HE ALSO CAME OVER THE DAY AFTER THEY WERE DONE TO CHECK OUT THE WORK AND MADE SURE WE WERE HAPPY WITH EVERYTHING. WE WERE, EVERYTHING LOOKS GREAT.

WHILE THE JOB IS NOT YET COMPLETE, SO FAR I AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH JON AND HIS CREW. JON IS WILLING AND VERY SKILLED AT OFFERING ADVICE ON COLORS. HE EVEN DROVE THROUGH MY NEIGHBORHOOD LOOKING AT HOUSES AND COLOR SCHEMES THAT I LIKE! HIS EMPLOYEES WORK HARD, SEEM HAPPY TO BE DOING WHAT THEY ARE DOING, AND CLEAN UP THOROUGHLY EVERY DAY. THEY ARE ALL A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY HIRE JON AGAIN, AND, IN FACT, HE WILL DO THE HOUSE INTERIOR IN THE FUTURE.
