"The Curtice Group finished our bathroom renovation in early April 2023. We can give a wholehearted positive review for Scott Curtice’s coordination of the project including keeping to and even improving upon the original schedule, cost transparency throughout, and thoughtful approaches to both design as well as any problems encountered. Scott was an excellent communicator all through the work, being both accessible and responsive to our concerns and questions. Proficient management of the timing of subcontractors by Scott and his project managers was key to the success of the process. All of the above contributed to a great result. The bathroom work included a complete change in the location of the original plumbing and an extension into another room. Scott designed a bathroom that fits our needs, which includes a lot of storage as well as a feeling of spaciousness in what is not really a big space. At the outset, he recommended vendors, always with the caveat that we could choose our own. He also accompanied us to a vendor for the main plumbing components of the bathroom. For access during the work, he created a temporary entrance that would allow access to the work site without going through the rest of the house. In addition to the bathroom, we changed multiple interior doors, replaced the original basement windows and door, changed multiple lighting fixtures and did additional carpentry work. We also addressed remedial plumbing problems in the basement as well as in another bathroom."

"I first heard about Kinsella Built via a recommendation from one of my co-workers who had used them for a kitchen renovation and raved about how it came out. Prior to reaching out to Kinsella via their web form, I had tried to contact multiple contractors to discuss my project and received no response. As a result, I had low expectations for receiving a timely response (or response at all) so you can imagine my surprise and delight when I got a response within 10 minutes of submitting my form. This proved to be a good omen for the rest of the project. The scope of my project was to do a full remodel of my kitchen and half bath in my condo (e.g. demo to the studs & install all new walls, cabinets, fixtures & appliances). The kitchen and bathroom share a wall and occupy a space of about 95sq ft, with the kitchen taking up about 60% of that space. It's a small space and going into the project, I anticipated that there wouldn't be much that could be changed in the way of the configuration or layout. During my first consultation with the project manager (John), he highlighted a number of options I hadn't considered which could both add storage space and also create the appearance of more space in my kitchen. Throughout the design phase, John was remarkably responsive and insightful which was a welcome change from prior experiences with contractors I've used in the past. John was very hands on throughout the project and accompanied my wife and I to look at countertops where he offered guidance based on recent trends and how they could be accommodated within the constraints of our kitchen space. He also made himself available to respond to random questions that came up during the lead up to the project work on everything from door knob finishes to appliance sizes to cabinet measurements and everything in between. Over a number of weeks, I developed a level of trust and rapport with John that helped put my mind at ease to the point where I ultimately deferred to his judgement on most project decisions. The project took about a month to complete and I was traveling out of town on a different time zone for the vast majority. John kept me up to date on the status of the project throughout and despite a few delays due to resource conflicts and timing of inspections, the remodel was completely finished by the time we returned from our trip. While we had an idea of what the kitchen would look like in our heads, the end result really exceeded our expectations. I'm a stickler for precision and the cabinets and appliances were all completely flush, no major gaps anywhere. Our kitchen looked noticeably bigger due to some of the design tweaks that John suggested. All in all, we were very happy with the end product. I can't recommend Kinsella Built enough - it was a pleasure doing business with them. Looking forward to collaborating with them in the future."

"Mike and his team did a great job of upgrading our Westwood condo: the unit was beautifully repainted, hardwood floors were smoothly installed, and the master bathroom remodel was exquisite - all completed in a matter of 2 weeks! This was the second time we hired Mike in as many years (he did an amazing job with our house in Dedham) and both times, we were fully satisfied with the work, pricing and professionalism. I highly recommend his services."

"Humberto and his team were terrific! They refinished the walls in 3 rooms of our house and their work was top notch. They removed wallpaper, sanded, plastered and painted our walls so that now they look pristine. I asked them if they could put in new doors and they did a great job with that too. I would refer this team to friends and family and will be using them again for other projects."

"I want to sincerely thank and highly recommend Marco Polo home Builder! While I was selling my house, the buyer’s inspector believed the attic needed repairs. One company quoted me a staggering $15,000. Thankfully, I had a general contractor from MP home Builder come take a look. He spent a lot of time carefully inspecting the attic and determined that it actually met all the requirements — there was only a small issue that needed to be fixed. They only charged $600! From $15,000 to $600 — that’s not just a price difference, it’s a clear example of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. MP home Builder doesn't lie or exaggerate just to make money. They are genuine, responsible, and truly care about doing the right thing. In today's world, a company like this is incredibly rare. What’s more, MP home Builder also does HVAC, furnace, electrical, and other types of work, and their prices are much more reasonable than other companies I’ve dealt with. If you're looking for a company that is honest, detail-oriented, fair in pricing, and trustworthy, this company is absolutely the one to hire!"

House Leveling questions, answered by experts

A sinking foundation can be lifted, most often by installing piers to re-level and support the weight of the house. Depending on the cause and extent of the sinking, other methods to lift a foundation include underpinning and mudjacking. Consult a foundation repair pro to determine the best way to lift your sinking foundation.

Concrete leveling is absolutely worth it if you have sunken concrete slabs and want to restore them to level, especially if the slab is part of your home foundation. Concrete leveling is less than half the price of replacing concrete sidewalks, patios, walkways, and pool decks, and it’s about a quarter of the cost of replacing a foundation. If you also treat the underlying problem, it can be a worthwhile and permanent solution.

Many contractors offer warranties for their work. Confirm terms before starting the project.

It’s best not to perform mudjacking in the winter unless the ground temperature remains above freezing. Freezing temperatures can cause the slurry to harden too quickly, compromising its strength and longevity. Concrete is also more susceptible to cracking and splitting in cold temperatures, so there’s a higher risk of damaging the slab during the drilling and lifting process in winter.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.
