Sorry, looks like this review got stuck in draft mode for quite a while. But the good thing about that is everyone gets to read a review with an update 1.5 years later on the quality of the work completed! In late 2020 I had recently moved into my new home and the gas water heater wasn't working properly. It was leaky and at least needed the pressure relief valve replaced, but the tank was well past it's expected lifetime. The techs were very helpful, kind and knowledgeable. The valve replacement wasn't going to work because repairing the tank could damage it further, so the tank was replaced instead. The price was very reasonable and installation was done really well. They did a great job with cleanup too! One and a half years later and the tank has had zero issues! I would definitely recommend them for heavy jobs like this or more simple ones around the house. Thank you very much!

Mike was great. Very responsive. Gave good advice about a low-disruption and cost-effective solution to our problem and got the work done quickly. Definitely "our" plumber!

Great experience with Provost. Admittedly, I do not know a lot about plumbing, so it would be hard to comment on the technical aspects of the job. However, the parts I do know about, and most homeowners are in the same boat, were all phenomenal. Those parts are communication, timeliness and the finished result. I actually found Provost due to my initial plumber not returning or initiating any communication. I grew frustrated and called Provost due to a great recommendation (of their work). They immediately called me back and from there were in constant contact during the whole process. Because I had several contractors working on parts of the job the scheduling was tricky. Provost was able to work with them and move forward as they did. Finally, everything works great! Overall, it was a very professional, friendly and positive experience.

Russ was excellent. Our home is historic with old plumbing and he kept us informed of our options to unclog the drains and used several methods to get them working, without damaging the existing pipes. He is very knowledgeable about plumbing and materials used in the 1930's and before, and took that into consideration before performing any work. One sink drain just would not clear, so he scheduled us for a second visit, giving us time to clear out a closet, and carefully measured and cut through a small section of closet wall to get at the piping. After clearing the clog, he replaced and updated a section of piping, and was very helpful about how he thought it best to repair the wall. My husband did some minor carpentry, and both our sinks are clearing better than they have been in many years. I would definitely use Provost Plumbing and Russ for all our other plumbing jobs. He is nice, professional, and prompt!

We had water dripping inside the cavity of the master bath ceiling. I left a message at the Provost number and Russell returned my call within the hour. I told him that a rarely used toilet upstairs was likely leaking. Russel came by and resealed/replaced parts in the toilet. Unfortunately, the dripping resumed later. Russell came out again and opened up the ceiling to have a better look. He thoroughly tested everything in the attic bath and put a camera through a gap in the attic subfloor. Turns out the dripping was from a vent pipe going through the roof. Russell was very professional throughout and did not charge me for the second visit even though he worked for several hours. I would definitely call Provost for all my future plumbing concerns.

This story begins long before we bought our dream condo, when some fool decided that an ejector pump system would be the best way to deal with our below-grade kitchen. Our troubles began once we moved in -- 3 years ago-- and began cooking regularly, the way one does when trying to eat well and not go out all the time. The pump backed up constantly, flooding the hallway and leading to amazing fungus sprouting from the wall. We called many different plumbers, most who refused to help, given the strangeness of our set-up (these pumps are almost never used in a kitchen, but typically for bathrooms or septic systems). We had some plumbers come out who I will politely avoid naming, who charged us for work that didn't do any good... eventually we got to the point where we could not use the kitchen sink or dishwasher without first checking the pump, as at any time it might unpredictably overflow. This went on and on, but then Provost came to our rescue! Although it took us a few tries to coordinate a time, we finally met Russ, who sweated through FIVE HOURS of intense labor, discovering and repairing the poor workmanship of at least 2 previous plumbers, successfully re-installing an alarm system, and providing us with an enyzme cleaning system to use as well. He insisted on closing the cabinet on the whole thing, which we did with trepidation, as we had gotten used to not trusting the pump. "You really shouldn't have to touch it again," he told us. "But call me if you have any problems!" It has been 3 weeks and we have yet to call, which feels about as close to a home-ownership miracle as we can get. I will sing the praises of these guys across Boston.

I tried to clear both of these myself, unsuccessfully. Clearing one sink was complicated by some old and delicate piping that we didn't want to damage. He stuck with it, was very careful, and managed to clear both without needing to open walls or cut and replace pipe. Hurray!

At first it was suggested that the whole commode be replaced, but it was found out that the bowl was intact and that only the tank be replaced. This replacement was done and the new unit worked fine and nothing else was needed to be done. Great service, good workmanship and will recommend this company to others.

Mike and Russ were truly a pleasure to work with. They make a great team. They are very professional and meticulous in their work. Mike was very flexible in scheduling the work to fit our needs. Mike did the initial inspection and estimate. He was punctual and gave us a very reasonable estimate detailing the work that needs to be done. He has over 30 years of experience in the industry and is actually an instructor for all the gas inspectors in the area. So you can be sure he knows the regulations and building codes. Russel does the work and he's truly a perfectionist. The final work he did looks like a work of art. He's also very nice to talk to and never impatient if you have questions about what needs to be done. He is efficient, thorough, and cleans up in the end. Mike follows up with us even after the city inspection to remind us to install gas monitors. We would definitely use them again for our future gas and water plumbing needs and would eagerly recommend them to all of our friends. Too bad Angieslist doesn't let me use A+++ to differentiate them further!

Russ and Mike adjusted their scheduling work to get our house's plumbing working again so we could move out of a hotel room and back into our house. Russ even came on a Saturday to finish the work when our washing machine water line burst and started leaking. Russ was polite and good with our two young children, particularly showing our three year old son some of the plumbing work he was doing which our son was keenly interested in. He worked quickly and while I am not a plumbing and thus cannot judge with expertise the quality of the work, all of our pipes are now working better than they were before the freeze. Now that our insurance approved our claim Provost will be getting our heating system up and running, something I trust them to do well and quickly. Highly recommended!

Our bathroom tub would not drain. Several services were unable to fix the situation. We contacted Provost (Russ was our plumber) to see if they could help - we selected them based on the other reviews here. First phone discussion was excellent - the plumber asked for a description, asked some pointed questions and assembled a picture of the issue based on the conversation. He made an appointment to come see the situation himself - showed up on time, was great to work with and we made a plan together on how to fix the pipe. Plumber came back again with appropriate tools and supplies and spent the day on the problem. Our particular issue was not straightforward yet he diagnosed it well, provided clear explanations, and offered several solutions (both pros and cons). Work was completed and we are very happy with that. Site was cleaned up afterwards. During this time, Russ stayed in contact by phone to remind of us appointments and also to give updates on when he would arrive. Overall excellent - I cannot write enough good things. We would absolutely hire Provost again. This particular job was about replacing parts of a 90 year old cast iron pipe in a bathroom that was remodeled about 10 yrs ago. The remodelers did not replace all the pipes at the time and this is the consequence - clogged but not amenable to a drain-snake. We could have ripped out everything at a cost of many thousands - Russ provided a solution that should last until next remodel.

Highly Recommended. I had trouble finding someone that would work on a steam heating system. Mike at Provost responded to my message on Angie's List. He gave me a no cost, in-home estimate, worked around my schedule, communicated his availability well and showed up on-time. His work fixed the problem, in one visit, for less than his estimated price. He replaced a broken water level sight glass on the furnace, 2 radiator float valves, and balanced the system. We are now comfortable in all rooms vs. previously being hot in some & cold in others. We are very happy with the outcome and would recommend Provost highly.

Technician was delightful. However, the price was very high, and the technician tried to charge me for the consultation fee. He did call the office and they confirmed the error. They also had preferential pricing if you enrolled in various levels of plan. I was very uncomfortable with all of this.

Russ was great- very knowledgeable and friendly. I had a few items on my list for him to take a look at, including a few leaking faucets and clogged toilet. He fixed the toilet quickly and explained everything as he went. We'll need to replace our bathroom fixtures soon and will be giving him a call again!

Russell responded to my initial call in a very timely manner and I was able to set an appointment within 2days. Russell arrived in the time frame he stated. He walked me through the entire process explaining everything and showed me the materials he was using to fix the problem. He did an excellent job and cleaned up afterwards. I have a second bathroom that needs some work and I will definitely be calling Russell.

It took two visits, but only because we needed to get a part. Provost handled the warranty issue for us.
