Classic Copper Works uses time honored German copper smith techniques handed down from father to son and passed on to our highly skilled artisans. "Ordered and paid for custom awning that was to take 5 weeks. Its now been 16 weeks and still waiting. Owner is at best noncommunicable and at worst, rude. I'm now wondering if this is a scam and not a real business."

"The tech guy showed up and spend most of his time trying to sell me a new unit that I didn't (and don't) need. He said he blew out the line, but it was still overflowing after he left. My regular guy came out a day or two later, blew out the line and all was fine."

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Shreveport's hot summers, high humidity, and frequent storms require roofing materials with strong wind and UV resistance. The City of Shreveport recommends scheduling roof replacement or repair during cooler months to avoid heat-related delays and ensure worker safety. Choosing roofing systems with proper ventilation and high wind ratings is essential for protecting your home from severe weather and prolonging roof performance.

Helpful?

When hiring a roofing contractor in Shreveport, prioritize those with a valid Louisiana contractor's license, strong local references, and proven experience with roof replacement and repair in the region's climate. Verify insurance coverage and check their standing with the Better Business Bureau and the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors. Ask about manufacturer certifications, storm damage restoration expertise, and detailed warranty terms for both labor and materials.

Helpful?

In Shreveport, most roof replacement projects require a building permit, which must be obtained through the Shreveport Building Inspections Department. According to the City of Shreveport and the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council, permits are generally not needed for minor repairs under one square of roofing, but always confirm requirements before starting work to avoid penalties or project delays.

Helpful?

Roofing projects in Shreveport can reveal hidden costs such as replacing rotted decking, addressing structural issues, or upgrading attic ventilation to meet local building codes. Additional expenses may include disposal fees, permit charges, and emergency storm damage repairs. The Shreveport Building Inspections Department and Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors recommend budgeting for unforeseen repairs discovered during tear-off or inspection.

Helpful?

In Shreveport, regular roof maintenance includes annual inspections for storm or heat damage, cleaning gutters to prevent water backup, and trimming tree branches that overhang your roof. The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors advises checking for loose shingles or leaks after major storms and treating for moss or algae due to local humidity. Seasonal maintenance, like clearing gutters in fall, helps extend your roof's lifespan.
