"Ed Riley is extremely knowledgeable about what causes lighting and how to protect from it. He explained to me which and how structures develop static electricity that lead to lighting discharges in a way that the physics made sense to me. They were also reasonably priced and kept their word. Definitely recommend them."

"The evaluation to determine generator size was excellent. Very detailed by a very knowledgeable gentleman. Answered all my questions and further advised those things I should want to follow on installing my generator. Optimize were right on schedule the stated day of installation. Excellent young crew, very knowledgeable and worked together very well. They were able to install the generator and electrical, had to wait on trenching the gas line as to wet and muddy in my back yard. Follow the end of the week, once things dried up they trenched and laid the gas line and test rain the generator. Optimize applied for all permits, a complete turn-key job done excellent. Electrical questions, answered by experts

Common signs of faulty electrical wiring include frequent circuit breaker trips, flickering or dimming lights, burning smells near an outlet, buzzing or humming sounds, electrical shocks or tingles when handling outlets of appliances, and hot or discolored outlet switches. If you notice one or more of these signs, hire a licensed electrician for an average cost of $50 to $100 per hour to diagnose and make necessary repairs.

You can determine whether you have a double-pole switch by examining its wiring. Unlike single-pole switches, which have two brass-colored terminals, double-pole switches feature four. These switches are typically only found near high-powered appliances such as electric furnaces or water heaters. If you’re unsure what type of switch you have, contact a local electrician to confirm.

The most common reason a GFCI outlet would trip even when nothing is plugged in is if there’s a problem at the circuit breaker end. This could be an overloaded circuit, with too many appliances plugged into it, or another type of fault. If a GFCI outlet keeps tripping, it can also be because it is faulty and needs replacing.

Schedule regular inspections, clean fixtures, and replace worn-out components promptly.

A voltmeter measures the voltage of AC or DC electrical current. Unlike a multimeter, measuring voltage is a voltmeter’s only function. Voltage is the potential difference between two points within a circuit. Measuring voltage with a voltmeter can help identify wiring issues or determine whether a battery is dead.
