"The work has not been completed yet due to weather conditions. But Mr. Laday responded in a reasonable time. He discussed the job on the phone and came to the scheduled appointment to personally review the work to be done. He gave a very fair estimate to do the work. He was very polite & knowledgeable. He is waiting for a few days of good weather to do the job. It has been raining everyday for over a week. Due to some underground wiring that must be completed we need 4 or 5 good days of drying out before he can start and complete the job in a 5 to 6 hour period. We are in a holding pattern on the job until a weather change. I believe he can do the job with no problem. I have total confidence in Mr Ladsy!"

"Ed Riley is extremely knowledgeable about what causes lighting and how to protect from it. He explained to me which and how structures develop static electricity that lead to lighting discharges in a way that the physics made sense to me. They were also reasonably priced and kept their word. Definitely recommend them."

"i decided to go with phil at optimize egs because they offered the best price and they were the only ones to offer to bury my gas line. the other companies were ok with the gas line being attached to the exterior wall. very unprofessional looking. lastly, their workers took pride in their work. to the point that before they left, one of the workers to the time to wipe down my generator and made sure it was clean looking. awesome company and would definitely do business with again"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For a smooth electrical project in Opelousas, start by confirming your contractor’s credentials and researching necessary permits. Coordinate with the utility if you’re upgrading service, and get HOA approval if required. Schedule work outside of peak storm months to avoid delays. Arrange inspections early, and always call 811 before digging to protect underground lines in Opelousas’ older neighborhoods and rural areas.

Helpful?

In Opelousas, enhance electrical safety by installing tamper-resistant outlets and GFCI protection, especially in rooms prone to moisture. Place outlets higher on walls where possible and use childproof covers. For pets, secure cords with protective covers and ensure outdoor connections are weatherproofed. Consider pest-resistant wiring and moisture barriers to address Opelousas’ climate and local wildlife, making your home safer for everyone.

Helpful?

In Opelousas, electrical safety should always come first. Address urgent issues like flickering lights, burning odors, or outlets that feel hot right away, as these can signal serious hazards—especially with frequent storms and high humidity. Upgrades like adding outlets or new fixtures can wait, but don’t delay too long, since moisture and local weather can accelerate electrical wear and increase risks.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Opelousas, choose corrosion-resistant wiring and moisture-rated electrical boxes to handle the area’s humidity. Use UV-resistant materials for outdoor work, and select THWN-2 wire for wet locations. PVC conduit is recommended for underground runs. Whole-home surge protectors and generator transfer switches are smart upgrades for storm preparation. Always follow local electrical safety codes for grounding and GFCI installation in damp spaces.

Helpful?

After finishing any home electrical upgrades in Opelousas, schedule a required inspection to ensure compliance and close out permits. Keep all documentation for insurance and future reference. Due to local humidity, test GFCI outlets monthly and consider annual checkups. Install surge protection for storm preparation, and notify your insurer of major changes. If you use medical equipment, register with the utility for emergency restoration.
