We are a locally owned family business serving the Northshore, Baton Rouge, and Greater New Orleans Area. Services include sales, service and installation of all makes and models of central air conditioning systems. After hours and weekend calls are available and we are licensed and insured statewide.

"If your looking for a professional, that is courteous, respectful, quick to respond, takes pride in their workmanship and offers very reasonable prices, then Broom's A/C and Heating is who you want to call. Josh immediately took my call and was able to meet within 2 hours! I was very impressed with his professionalism and knowledge. Not only was everything explained in detail, but also in a way that I could understand. My complete HVAC system , along with the ducts, had to be replaced! I couldn't believe how very reasonable his estimate was and this included a "top of the line" HVAC system! Being a Friday, he couldn't start until the following Monday. They were here first thing in the morning and his apprentice/foreman Derek quickly got the men to work. While they were Tearing out the old system and ducts, Josh was picking up the new unit. Josh's crew were, not only professional, but were "work horses"! 90% had been torn out by lunch! Derek, like Josh, took the time to answer any questions I may have had. Tuesday they began the install. Job was completed by end of the day! Josh made sure I was satisfied and showed me the best way to run system for maximum efficiency. He also sets up a date/time to return in a week to check on everything and "tweek" the system, to ensure it runs as efficiently as possible. Josh takes great pride to ensure the customer is happy and their installations are second to none. As he put it, this is his company and the work done is a direct reflection of him! Josh will do everything in his power to ensure his customers are completely satisfied!"

While both have advantages, a split system is generally cheaper than a ducted one. Because they are less invasive to install, the labor costs are lower, and they can be more energy efficient. But, a ducted system might be worth the investment if you run it more frequently. 

If possible, avoid placing furniture in front of a return air vent. A blocked air vent can cause your HVAC system to use more energy, which in turn can lower the life span of your unit and raise your energy bill. Furniture can also trap hot or cold air, damaging your furniture or appliances. 

Professional duct installers suggest leaving between six and 12 inches of space in front of an air return vent. If you must place furniture in front of a return air vent, try to aim for putting furniture over a floor vent instead of in front of a wall vent, and avoid draping curtains over any vent system.

A dirty AC filter can lower the efficiency of your system, so depending on how dirty it was, you may notice a temperature difference when you clean your filter. You can try other solutions if your AC isn’t blowing as cold as it used to.
