"Mike R was a delight to work with. Answered all calls and texts promptly, honest and experienced. His crew was fantastic. They were professional, courteous and hardworking. They had to adjust to using their equipment in a tight space and did it with ease. The job encountered an obstacle and Mike stuck to our agreed budget and fixed the problem. Such a pleasure to work with overall and the driveway looks great. Very happy customer"

Small jobs welcome

"I hired John to fabricate and install a motorized front gate for my driveway and two adjacent doorways. He listened to my ideas and thoughtfully drafted a plan that took into consideration my vision as well as the technical limitations of the materials and surrounding structures. I could not have been more happy with the results. I have never had a single problem with the gates and he even went above and beyond what we had planned to weld a concealer conduit for the cabling after the gate was installed. I get compliments on it all the time and it really leveled up the curb appeal and quality feel of my home. I definitely recommend John if you are in need of someone who is a problem solver and innovative thinker to bring your vision to life. Thank you John!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Common alternatives to a gravel driveway include concrete, asphalt, brick, stone pavers, and permeable pavers. Concrete and asphalt are generally the most affordable options. However, concrete can be prone to cracking in cold climates, while asphalt may soften in areas with high heat and direct sun exposure. For enhanced curb appeal, brick, stone, and permeable pavers are popular choices, though their installation can be more expensive due to intricate designs. Stone pavers offer a natural look and are sometimes installed with gravel around them. Both permeable pavers and brick driveways provide excellent drainage, which helps prevent flooding and reduce water runoff.

Sealing coat asphalt after 6-12 months and then every 2-3 years is recommended.

Even with regular maintenance, most driveways don’t last much longer than 30 years. Alligator cracking is a clear warning sign that your driveway’s foundation is failing, and cracks that are deep and wide can let water in, causing more damage. Standing water is another red flag. If your driveway doesn’t drain properly, it’s going to degrade slowly. Finally, if you’re seeing dips or uneven patches, that’s a sign the base layer or soil is shifting. If these issues pop up, it’s time to replace your driveway.

Recycled asphalt is a durable choice for a driveway, but doesn’t have the same appearance and low maintenance as standard asphalt. For long driveways in rural communities, recycled asphalt can make a great choice. Recycled asphalt is 20% to 30% percent less expensive than standard asphalt and is better for the environment.

Asphalt is not a type of concrete. While both are a common type of pavement, asphalt is composed of aggregates (like sand and gravel) and bitumen; concrete is a mixture of cement, aggregates, and water. Here are some of the key differences between asphalt and concrete driveways.
