"I highly recommend using Reliable Insulation for your home needs. I used them for attic insulation, underfloor insulation, vapor barrier, and putting a screen over the vent in my attic. They were very professional, honest, and hardworking. They did a thorough inspection and estimate and were very honest about what my house needed. They were in constant communication with me about what was going on. They were able to add on a few extra projects like adding a 2nd attic access and putting a screen in the attic. They were careful to lay down tarps to cover the bed and items when they were going to cut drywall, and left my house cleaner than when they came. I would absolutely use Reliable Insulation again!"

"I very much enjoyed my experience with C&S Fencing and Insulation. All my interactions with them were pleasant; their bid was easily the best I got; and when Shawn arrived he got the job done very quickly by himself. I like watching an expert at work, and today was an education in efficiency. Kudos to C&S Fencing and Insulation!"

"They were prompt in following up on my inquiry for quote. I was given a time for when they would be available for the site visit. They showed up when scheduled-inspected my attic for what I needed to do to obtain the suggested R rating. I elected to accept their quote & was scheduled for installation within a week. They showed up on time & work was done in timely manner. They reviewed the pictures of the insulation they blew in -measure tape -I required an average of 10? -due to the settling of the 20 year old insulation that was put in at time my unit was built. The crew was very professional, courteous & respectful. They did a great job and I was pleased with everything & everyone I worked with during this project."

"The owner came down to give us an estimate on what it would take to fix standing water issue in a house we were looking at purchasing. He performed a thorough inspection on what was causing the water to sit in the crawlspace and went over what would be required to keep the moisture and water from affecting the structural integrity of the house. While we did not end up purchasing the home, we greatly appreciated his willingness to come down and do an inspection and give us an estimate. They were recommended by my stepdad who had them do a crawlspace encapsulation on his house. He said they perform first class workmanship and were professional. The owner also came back after the work was finished to ensure that everything was done correctly. Would recommend to anyone needing any work done on their crawlspace."

"Two pros expressed concern about forcing foam or blown insulation into the vaulted ceiling with old bat insulation. The Reed pro offered workable solutions that would meet the goal but unrealistic in their scope."

"Excellent work (cleanup after raccoons, removed old insulation, repaired vents, installed both blown-in and batt new insulation) by great staff. Exceptional cleanup; very hard-working skillful crew. I would highly recommend this company and their billing and construction staff. I plan to hire them to do additional work this fall."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

While not always necessary, you can glue a drywall ceiling in addition to using screws or nails. Drywall is typically secured to ceiling joists with fasteners, which is often sufficient. However, adding construction adhesive can offer benefits like preventing sagging, bridging gaps, and reducing air leaks for better energy efficiency. It may also be used for specific acoustic or insulation needs. On the other hand, many professionals advise against it because properly placed screws make the drywall structural, glue doesn't add strength, and it makes future repairs or replacements significantly more difficult. Ultimately, it's best to follow local building codes and project-specific requirements to decide if adhesive is right for your ceiling.

Common causes include water leaks, settling, and impact. Address underlying issues to prevent recurring damage.

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.

Most handy homeowners can tackle removing texture from unpainted walls. Removing texture from painted walls is a bit trickier. Paint acts as a sealant, so you can’t soften the texture with water. Instead, you’ll have to add a layer of drywall compound known as a skim coat. This process is messy and takes some practice.

Most drywall used for interior walls of homes is 1/2-inch thick. This size strikes a balance of being easy to handle and hang while being thick enough for the durability needed on interior wall applications.
