"Awesome professional installation services were provided by Joe B. and Tyler S. Of West Shore Home of a new walk-in shower. The new shower replaced the old original tub and ceramic tile. A vent pipe was rerouted by the installers and a perfect installation was achieved. Highly recommend West Shore Home."

"DDR was a great company to work with. The pricing was out of this world; almost half the price of other companies I had talked to. They got their work done fast with great quality. They make sure to match everything with how it is upstairs. They did all of the trim work the same as I have at the rest of my house and also did the door knobs and hinges black like I have at the rest of the house as well. Any problems or concern I had they were sure to address quickly. I liked that I got to pick out everything I wanted. I also liked that I could hire somebody else to do the flooring and painting, but that they had the option to go through their subcontractors as well. I ultimately decided I wanted to get my shower tiled and not have a shower insert and they helped me get linked up with somebody to waterproof the shower for tiling work to be done . From signing the contract to inspections everything took less than four months."

"The company was very timely and helpful. I had spent a week trying to find someone to remount my undermount sink to a granite countertop. I was lost and then used homeadvisor. The company contacted me swiftly. I was in a pinch and they were able to come the next day, complete the work in less time than I expected and for a reasonable price. They were personable and professional. I am grateful!"

"I looked for years for someone to repair a tile bathroom job that had been poorly done, including regrouting significant areas. Grout Medic did the job and demonstrated complete professionalism all the way. It wasn’t cheap but they delivered. Showed up promptly, did what they were contracted to do (and a little more!), and Jeremy was a pleasure to work with. I would not hesitate to work with Jeremy in the future."

"Fully gutted and remodeled kitchen with a wall removal. Installed and rearranged appliances, countertops, cabinets, tile backsplash, hardwood floors. Teams were professional, hard-working, responsive. Great consultation when I needed advice. Quickly and fully addressed any concerns or questions. Relationships with subcontractors positive. Would definitely use them again for contracting/remodeling needs."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can tile over existing tiles in a bathroom, but it is not always recommended. For this method to be successful, the original tile surface must be clean, flat, and free of damage such as cracks, unevenness, mold, or mildew. While tiling over existing tiles can save time and money, there are potential drawbacks. The new adhesive may not bond properly, and the process adds extra weight to the wall or floor. Additionally, the increased height of the surface could interfere with door clearances. For the best and most durable results, removing the old tiles before installing new ones is generally the better option.

You should always use caulk instead of grout where the tile meets the wall. This will help your tile installation look great and last a long time. When you accidentally use grout for the corner seams, you end up making the tiles too rigid. So as the wall shifts over time, your tiles have no wiggle room. This can lead to tile damage, which will eventually require you to do at least a partial reinstallation.

Flooring transition strips can be secured to the subfloor using glue, nails, or screws. For a more secure installation, especially in high-traffic areas, using screws or nails is recommended as it reduces the risk of slippage. However, if aesthetic appeal is a priority, glue provides a cleaner, more seamless finish without any visible holes or screw heads.

It’s easiest to start from an edge as it gives you a straight line. A problem may arise if your edge doesn’t line up perfectly, in which case it’s best to start from the center. Some think that starting tile from the center adds a focal point in the center of the hearth.

Ideally, you should remove tile before installing hardwood floors, but there are good reasons not to. Removing stubborn tile can be a labor-intensive job that adds days to the project. The subfloor beneath the tiles could also be damaged during the process, meaning you’d have to repair the subfloor before installing the new hardwood floor.
