Customers say: Super punctual

"they did a great job. i would absolutely call them again if I have any masonry needs. they had good communication, did high quality work, were reasonably priced compared to other estimates that i received from other contractors. they also found and suggested a few other things that i had not noticed that were absolutely needed. finally, i added to the scope of work at the last minute and they handled it with no issues. overall, i suggest them highly and have already recommended them to others.

"The technician that came out was great! He left the house clean (no soot), was very honest and upfront about what he was doing and what he saw. He gave several recommendations to getting our fireplace working, in a range of pricing. He also found our dampener, which was tucked away in the chimney, but we thought it was lost for the last several years!"

"Starting with Vinny who came out and explained everything and what could and could not be done in our manufactured home made it simple to understand. We liked the options that he gave us and the quote was very reasonable. Deybib and Manny came on time the day of install, they were both knowledgeable and professional. They made it fun watching them put a hole through our wall. They explained everything and explained the working of the stove. I would definitely recommend Shamrock to install any wood stove for sure. Thank you guys!"

". We decided to convert three of our four fireplaces from wood to gas. They originally used to be coal so they are smaller than normal. Ben came out and gave us an free estimate and told us what we needed. The fireplace in the dining room did not have a basket so we bought a great basket plus three burners, starters and artificial coals. We called Ben after all the items came in and he set up a date to come out to begin work. He told us it would take two to three days. During the whole process, Ben always showed up on time, cleaned up after himself and was very professional. He completed the job on time and the work he did was excellent! I recommend him highly. Our fireplaces were small since they were coal, so he had a challenge to get the burners in. We chose artifical coal instead of gas logs in keeping with the period of the house. It turned out better than we could have ever imagined.

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

One disadvantage of a wood furnace is that you need a constant supply of wood to run it. Even if you have a good amount of wood on your property (or have another way to get affordable wood), you’ll still need to chop it, store it, and re-fuel your furnace with it to keep your house heated.

Yes, in most cases, you can remove a fireplace while keeping the chimney. This process requires sealing the chimney at the bottom where it connected to the fireplace and capping it at the top. It is essential to consult a chimney professional or inspection specialist beforehand. They will need to determine if the chimney's structural integrity is sufficient to remain safely in place without the support of the fireplace.

Avoid using abrasive cleansing powders on natural stone, as these products could damage the porous material. Using bleach is also a poor idea because of the porosity of the stone. Avoid using a scrub brush with metal bristles, as they could scratch the stone. If you know who manufactured your stone or who installed the fireplace, you may want to contact that entity for any advice on cleaning it safely.

The easiest fireplace to build is an electric fireplace. These aren’t true fireplaces but can mimic the look of a traditional fireplace. True fireplaces, made of brick and stone, are complex and require professional installation; adding them to an existing home is demanding and expensive. You could spend $30,000 to have a real fireplace installed.

You can find replacement stove parts for popular brands at local hardware stores or major retailers. However, you might find the best deal by directly buying online from the manufacturer. While there are some universal parts, the manufacturer can also help you find parts that are specific to your stove’s make and model.
